Just watched his first episode. Very funny performance, although predictably the character was a whinging jakey. Unfortunately, the actor took his own life.
Some of you are too young to remember when we got pea and ham far a chicken and we all thought that is clever but now in 2020 we are making chicken from peas and yams now that’s really clever
LOVE this, thanks so much for posting. Been looking for ages. I say it at least once a week when I get home made soup...'Pea and ham? From a chicken? Now that's clever'
Search for ..... Sylvester McCoy Knorr Stock Cubes Moira Advert .... it’s there... another classic. I first saw that ad at maybe 5 years old, and to this day still use the expression “aye a’suppose” all the time...and I’m not even Scottish..!!
This misses the point of the original ad.The ending has been cut where the wife went to a "hen " night in Inverness and there's male strippers. That was the whole point of the gag. That's why it was liked. Not this one.
We still say ‘fae a chicken? Now that’s clever’ every time pea and ham soups served up 😂
Every time I make myself pea soup with ham, I sit down to watch this while eating it. :)
this Ad still gets talked about after all these years!
Yup 😂
aye 🙂
Talking about it at work right now.
Can confirm!
Still lol
2022 and this just made my day ❤️memories and still say it to this day 😂😂😂😂
Happy Heavenly Birthday Ian McCall, who played Hughie, he sadly took his own life age 76 in January 2002
Some ads stay in your memory for ever.
It bring we back this advert!
Brilliant. ❤
I've been waiting forever for someone to locate and post this :)
The guy with the tash is the excellent Phil McCall...great Glaswegian actor who appeared in 2 episodes of Minder as the legendary 'Scotch Harry'.
He did the bizzo.
Just watched his first episode. Very funny performance, although predictably the character was a whinging jakey. Unfortunately, the actor took his own life.
'Pea and ham? oot a chicken? Now that's clever'..Love it!
There was an auld guy near us, we called him pea n ham huey.
Scotch Harry did the bizzo!!

Can i remind you its FAE not FROM.
@@steviemacmuttley nope, he says "from" you can literally hear it! I always say "fae" - but oor memory was wrang!
Brilliant. Brings back some great memories... :-D
Useful to point people to whenever I say the (frankly astonishingly confusing) words 'from a chicken?' whenever I'm offered Pea & Ham soup :)
I DO THE EXACT SAME THING!!!
get the wording correct FAE a chicken not FROM...
I remember when men worked and came home to a dinner made by their wife.
Yeah it fuckin sucked lol my grandad once had a proper schoolboy temper tantrum when his wasn’t ready yet… he was a grown man with 3 kids.
This is just brilliant. Brings back loads of memories. Like other folk though, I'd love to see the Moira the chicken one again too.
Search for ..... Sylvester McCoy Knorr Stock Cubes Moira Advert .... it’s there... another classic. I first saw that ad at maybe 5 years old, and to this day still use the expression “aye a’suppose” all the time...and I’m not even Scottish..!!

A classic ad
I must be getting adverts muddled up. I thought the guy said he knew they were having chicken soup because because his wife had been to a hen night.
God I remember this advert...
always remember this advert ..wonder why?
Phil was the bizzo check out the two eposodes of Minder he was in
Does anyone recall a knorr Stock cube ad from the 1980s with an instrumental symphony playing over a Scene of a farmers field ?
love it!!!
I love that Huey's wife (Who is never named) gets the best line: "No, Huey. This'll be the pea 'n ham."
HUGHIE not HUEY
@@steviemacmuttley Depends on what side of the Atlantic you are on. Are you too young to remember the rock band called Hughie Lewis and the News?
No true Scotsman is called Huey.
Pea and ham from a chicken
FAE a chicken ...its slang Scots not posh English...
Classic!
Phil McColl (the driver)
He's brand new!

That was an entirely different advert, you can see it here: Knorr Stock Cubes
That was an entirely different advert.
Idiot - wrong advert.
