    The new clutch that I need for this car is on the way, so stay tuned! I can't wait - it's been a real killer not being able to fully drive and enjoy the car. But what do you think of the clean up results? I was really happy with how it turned out!

      The car is looking great, much better than my 2003 daily. I haven't washed it for 10 years, since it has the classic VW clear coat peeling. Looking forward to the vidoes once you've replaced the clutch & you start having fun with the car.

      Looking fantastic, and I don't even mean for its age.
      I share your enthusiasm for putting effort into cleaning up a new car and seeing what difference can be achieved. I believe it reinforces a desire to really look after a vehicle if you spend the time cleaning it.
      I've just picked up a 2011 caprice V and am looking forward to giving it a real thorough detail, swirl mark removal etc.

    Not sure if anyone has mentioned it because I can’t be bothered reading too much of the comments but the lower bumper grille was never a factory accessory. A lot of dealers bought them in to sell but they are indeed an aftermarket accessory to make the XR look a little more like a F6.
    Also another note about them, they do restrict air flow a little to the radiator. As said before the F6 does have a lower grille but it also has a larger radiator to help make up for the cooling

    • @MotoringBoxTV
      @MotoringBoxTV  4 роки тому

      Yeah a few mentioned it, very interesting. I imagine there would be some restriction, but probably not enough to worry about. Hard to imagine the Typhoon was given a bigger radiator just because of the front grille - it probably had more to do with the higher power output.

    .... Well done Mate, I have a suggestion related to the color/keeping it straight/Modding it closer to 2020.
    Fit some LED headlights, override the LDR (Light dependent resistor) on the dash with some black tape (under the sensor cap), leave the stalk on 'Auto'
    and you now have the headlights as 'permanent running lights'. (They will time out when you pull the key out).
    Don't skimp on the LED's, Don't skimp on anything related to safety, purchase some tyres that stick like 'feces to a blanket' in the wet.
    You will need to perform an alignment if you fit LED's. Might even need 'spacers' to bring them into range of the adjustment.

    Honestly dude from an ex detailer, you do not need to use a buffing pad to apply wax. Just use your hand, i think people think it's like a polish that needs working in. A wax seeps into the pores of the paints and you just wipe away the excess. Wax application is very quick, i feel using a machine would slow you down heavily. After a clay bar, everyone should take the time to do a jeweling stage to their car just to make it pop, before applying a protectant. Your paint will thank you for it! Good video none the less.

    • @MotoringBoxTV
      @MotoringBoxTV  4 роки тому +1

      True - but for me it's a really quick way of applying it. I just make one or two passes across the panel, let it sit for a while and then wipe off the residue. Does the job.

    Another great video mate!
    I've had my TE50 ceramic coated and was blown away with how it turned out.
    Maybe a ceramic coat for the BA down the track?
    Cheers mate.

    Nice job. Do you do anything to the black trim on the doors and mirrors? From the service records I know my G6E was parked up for a few years by a previous owner and I suspect it spent most of that time under a tree. The sheet metal scrubs up well but the trim is covered in some sort of crap that is coming off a little bit each time I wash it. Wondering if there's any shortcuts.

    Haha I cleaned my engine bay a few weeks back, then a few days later you put up the engine bay video. I just polished and waxed my car on the weekend and here we are again. 😂

    I have no clue about those centre caps on the wheels but, with our old BA MK2 use to lose them all the time back in 2004-2011. Never sure if they kept falling out or if people were taking them while in the shopping centre. Always something I will never be able to work out lol.

      The replacement caps were a very tight fit, I don't imagine they'd be ever coming off by themselves!

      MotoringBox that’s what the dealership would tell us, was very weird. That car had bad luck with multiple people hitting it etc

    Another really well presented and shot video keep it up. On the car wash part - I'll admit I cringed that you didn't at least use two buckets or wipe in straight lines to minimise swirling - but be careful with clay bars and using soap/water as many brands actually deteriorate with water and do need a more dedicated spray lube for the process or you will be left with horrible smudges everywhere.
