More people should watch this video. I've been teaching Leave No Trace principles long before I even learned the organization even existed. Yeah, I'm old. @ no if i was on a trail and someone told me to turn off my phone i would get pretty mad, Like if its bothering you that bad can you not go somewhere else. leave no trace but people that are nit picky over things like phone light.....thats just plain lame.
Insects build homes in and under them, fungi decompose them, mosses grow on them, as they break down, they form the soft-soil loam that keep trails healthy... the list goes on. Have you ever been outside before?

I don't recall background light from cell phones or iPads being any kind of issue. Be a good trail citizen but don't get weird about trail etiquette.
Great... ruin others night vision...staying up past "hikers midnight" inside shelters DOES cause unnecessary noise too. YOU are "that guy".
