Seeing things like this reminds you that this is what life and enjoyment is really all about. Give me this over fancy cars and dinners. These are the things that brings true peace and comfort.
My hats off and a lot of thanks to all of the volunteers who maintain all of the trails in this great country. Without you and all the good you do we would not have the trails to hike and enjoy. A extra thank you to the good folks who maintain my favorite trail , The Florida Trail
Love the AT. We have section hiked many parts of it in GA, NC, TN :) we always practice leave no trace & also pickup items that others have left behind whenever possible. We have even been food & water trail angels which is really gratifying to us & the people we have met. Sadly, I just watched this video as it comes shortly after the heartbreaking fires that just occurred in the Great Smoky Mtns & around Gatlinburg, TN. & Also all of the AT is closed currently in this area that your video focuses on. This has to be very heartbreaking for all of you as well as to many others, I hope that you are all safe & well.
Can anyone identify what that is they are building? Maybe an elevated walkway in a muddy area? It doesn't look like a low spot, but that's my best guess.
Hey, John! These structures are called "turnpikes," and they elevate the path above areas that are frequently wet or boggy. This helps prevent erosion and lessens the need for more intense renovations in the future.
What a beautiful group of people. Thank you all so much.
Thank You! For the hard work!

Konnarock! Mid-Atlantic!
They are trail magicians, more correctly.
We won't argue with that description!
