@@slevinchannel7589 It doesnt confuse me. Another synonym would be enchantive or augmentative. Enhancers simply make themselves or objects/tools they hold better, stronger, faster etc. It is also not a falsely named category, it is pretty on point.
Mineta is also not an enhancer, he conjures balls from his head. Please try again. Momo is also not an enhancer, she is a conjurer. She doesnt enhance her body nor does mineta, they each create something from that body. That is literally not enhancement no matter how you look at it.
I think you personally are looking too much into this. Also, if it is ‘many’ as in characters don’t understand enhancements I would maybe agree with you.
But more strongly, I think Togashi himself barely understands it since like Manipulators the type has some pretty soft limits. We don’t ‘know’ if you can just enhance your healing factor like deadpool as an ability or enhance your bones to make yourself invulnerable or something.
Both types are just under utilized. What you might be thinking with your examples, even though they are the furthest thing from enhancers are manipulators.
Which also manipulate the body just to make it more confusing, but it is not limited to that. So no, Enhancers are the easiest type. Basically “I make myself or things I hold better then before.” With the limit only being range since support enhancers, uhh, supposedly are very rare since most just want to make the body stronger.

I would argue that he is a a conjurer. His hatsu allows him to create hxh content on a daily basis, on the condition that he must gain subscribers constantly thus his ability to conjure a subscribe button.
He is a manipulator... He makes you love HxH and hope for it's return regardless of how unlikely it seems. He does so by injecting videos into your UA-cam feed consistently

If you are an enhancer you seemingly have the most potential for learning other nen types as you are the only nen type without a 40% aptitude in another type, its lowest being 60% meaning enhancers can have a pretty good all around arsenal.
Take transmuters for example. They have 100% proficiency in transmutation, 80% in enhancement and conjuration, 60% in emission, and 40% in manipulation.
Except every Enhancer that we've seen in the series so far only relies on brute strength. We don't see any of the diversity in application of other Nen categories as we do with other Nen users with affinities for the other categories.
The Only Exception I can think of off the top of my head is Isaac Netero, and even then he's the exception and not the rule.
Except for Specialists. Some of them can use Hatsu from other categories at 100% efficiency.

@@FarBeyondStrange There is no reliable source which confirms that Netero was an enhancer. The places he is labeled as an enhancer are databooks, which were never confirmed to have been written by the author of HxH, and have a lot of contradictions with the story.
Saroojan Vasanthakumar The definition is that specialist’s dont follow the normal rules of nen. Some, like Kurapika, can use 100% of each category, while others may just have a power completely outside of the normal abilities

@@aceclover758 yeah, there’s usually some sort of “power” that forms plots, like quirks in my hero academia, and cursed power in jujutsu kaisen, that’s used as a sort of power level. Hunter x hunter did it really well, making it very diversified for lots of opportunities to create interesting abilities, and just in case things don’t make sense, they also added in specialists

Speaking about the Zoldycks.
I think the reason why black haired Zoldycks are manipulators is because their mother is one.
Since Maha is of an older generation, he could have gotten his allignment from an Enhancer marrying into the family.
My guess is that Netero uses enhancement to speed up his prays and attacks?
It seems like his speed comes from the condition that he must be grateful, which may or may not have been unconsciously set.
I don't think Enhancement is involved in the process, it's just the result of Netero's natural training. I think this is especially true because using aura to increase your speed is a waste of aura that could be used for combat. Why do that instead of creating an ability specifically designed to increase speed? And the Kannon's Condition is that Netero must perform the praying motion.

Man, it seems like Enhancement could be really versatile. Make a standard object into a weapon or shield, enhance a bodily process - make people horny by enhancing sex drive? Make yourself super-smart by enhancing your brain? Reflexes via the nervous system? I dunno, I feel like Enhancement is a little under-utilized, but I haven't kept up with the manga more recently...

A chart from a recent HxH chapter basically implied this is what Komugi's ability does, she's an enhancer. Although, with the insane restrictions of only being limited to Gungi and requiring her to kill herself if she ever loses, it's WAY more powerful than a more general application of this concept should be.
Well, enhancers also get two parallel affinities. Transmuting and Emission. So they are in a position to transmute their aura and then detach it from themselves. They really should use that more. If Silva can throw his balls despite being a natural transmuter and Zeno can send his dragons out (that has to be emission and manipulation right?) for miles despite being a transmuter, then natural Enhancers should definitely have tons of power to both transmute and emit simultaneously.
About netero being an enchancer, it's interesting to point out that he kinda fits hisoka's scheme, because he spent a big part of his life training ruthlessly with the only objective of becoming as strong as possible and finding an oponent as strong as possible, also what @Big Dylsaster said makes sense, and would explain why he's so proficient in every other nen type except specialization.
In the anime it's hinted at that his power comes from that same simple mindedness and determination of doing the same training regime every single day, and it appears he developed his 100 type guanyin much later in his life.

@@Binks129 Well, Kastro didn't put any conditions on the use of his clone, and Netero's Bodhisattva is more of an emission/conjuration, instead of Kastro's conjuration/manipulation.
Andrew The Mighty That’s true and not really, the only emission one would be Zero hand. And he has to do certain movements to manipulate the statue with each hand. So I’d say it’s Comjuration/Manipulation.
But yeah he does have a high cost in that he has to pray each time.

Recently, Komugi was confirmed to be an enhancer, implying that she unconsciously uses the ability to enhance her mental acuity. In my eyes, this completely blows open the door for all kinda of other applications of enhancement. Melody, as an emitter, should have some decent skill with enhancement and that could be how she can hear people from kilometers away or discern their mental state just from hearing a heartbeat. On the other hand, it could just be a supernatural non-nen ability like Gon's keen sense of smell. On the other OTHER hand, there's really no proof that Gon's sense of smell is not also enhancement as it seems even better in the Chimera Ant arc, after he's learned how to use nen. Anyways, I just think this Komugi reveal makes enhancement almost as versatile as something like transmutation as there are so many aspects of the human body that you could enhance, even more aspects of non-human entities you could enhance.

@@nenmaster5218 That is likely the case, but there's also the possibility that the Devil's Song is somehow imbued with the post-mortem nen of its composer, meaning that it would basically be like a forced nen awakening for anyone who hears it (and survives ofc). In that case any ability Melody got from hearing it would still be nen related.

I always thought that Netero's enhancement focus was speed, thus he took advantage of this and made a soft condition (pray before every attack) to make his Bodhisattva stronger. He might had also develop Guanyin when he ventured into the dark continent to better deal with the giant creatures there (or to safetly attack from a distance).
He developed it from his 4 years of elightmentnt training

Many think Enhncment is the strongest type despite having many limitations and weaknesses on its own
Enhancers are seen as very strong because they can put out as much offense as they can defend themselves. They also tend to get stronger at quicker rates since most of their Hatus’s are basic applications of Nen but honed to the highest degree
I think Netero only makes sense if you broaden your perspective of what can be enhanced.

@@Drip_Wooper yes, conjurors and manipulators get the shorter end of the stick in terms of raw power or growing stronger quicker but in exchange, their abilities are more versatile and use a lot of contracts, conditions and restrictions
Manipulators like Shalnark are the most feared since once conditions are met, the battle is over and the manipulator wins
Gon being a child making his hatsu a child's game gives it more power. Personality, sentiment, and significance lend themselves to nen.
While there's a good chance that could be true, it's mostly powered by the conditions of saying an entire phrase before he has to attack

@@kaltakus I don't think he has to say the entire phrase, but even then it takes a while to charge up because of how the ability functions. He's basically placing alot of aura into his attacks so like Ko, but it hits much harder. This causes it to require said charging time which makes it rather slow.

you could enhance your eyes for a faster reaction because light still needs time to get to your eye, or boost your speed by strengthening your leg muscle. you could even enhance your muscle density to a point you become a spear, skin hardness(thought processing, half-sleep had awake), brain usage, fingernails( nail knife), liver( more immunity to poisons), stomach(faster digestion to gain more nutrients), heart(also speed) there is a lot of possibilities
you can get crazier and enhace growth hormone production allowing you to grow parts of ur body having huge hands or huge legs or huge ears that you can use to fly.

It's pretty much, they don't fit into any category.
Specialization doesn't have the standard boundaries. The advantage of Specialization is unpredictability even compared to the most versatile Nen categories, but as a disadvantage it possesses the lowest affinity for Enhancement. And Specialist abilities still require Conditions (also known as Restrictions and Limitations).

Ok so I got an idea for an enhancer ability
The person focuses their nen on one part of the body but instead of just plain nen what if the nen is constantly rotating like a spiral so that it's kind of like a drill to go through somebody

I feel that would be more of a transmutation ability that could be enhanced with enhancement.

* enhancing the healing ability of yourself or others
* enhancing the cognitive abilities of yourself or others
* enhancing the sleep quality of yourself or others
* enhancing the strength, agility, speed, flexibility, balance, reflexes, or endurance of yourself or others
* enhancing the properties of physical objects and weapons (basically a super powerful shu)
* enhancing the mood or mental states of yourself or others
* enhancing the flavor of food or some other sensory experience
* enhancing breath and lung capacity of yourself or others
* enhancing the appearance of yourself or others
* enhancing the strength or properties of the skin, hair, nails, teeth, or senses of yourself or others
* increasing the volume of a liquid, possibly allowing for some kind of hatsu that uses water or fluid
* possibly the ability to temporarily trace some of the nen abilities of others
* etc...
ArticBlueFox96 enhancing the mood/mental state of someone as well as appearance is manipulation. Illumi Zoldick did both of those. And enhancing the taste of food is just transmutation. Like how the water test changes the water to taste sweet.

I am not referring to changing or manipulating the mood/mental state of someone, I am referring to taking the natural mood of someone and boosting it.
I am also not referring to the manipulation of someone appearance into something else, I am referring to taking the natural positives of someones appearance and boosting that as well
I am also not referring to changing something that taste poorly into something that taste good, I am referring to finding the natural flavor of a food and boosting that as well.
I think that these examples fall into enhancement.

@@R0-83-RT I would imagine that both enhancers and manipulators could do that. Manipulators would be more effective, but I would expect that an enhancer could enhance the pain receptors in someone's nervous system to be stronger.

Personally if I were a enhancer then my ability would be to heal all my wounds almost instantly by having the condition of having to be asleep or unconscious .
Then turn my aura into electricity like Killua. Also using the healing to skip the many years endured to become familiar with electricity
Isn't that two types of nen? You can probably heal fast with enhancement but one of them has to be 100% and the other 80%.
You cant perfect both. Either being as strong as killua or an instant heal. If you choose electricity, then you won't heal as fast

Well that’s the case for many series that use energy. It’s not stated but they enhance their weapons just how they do their bodies.

Listening to this. All I can think of is the Fighting type moves in pokemon like, Bulk up that raises the physical attack and defence of the user or the move 'Power up Punch' could be a Hastu as the users needs to it the opponent with a punch to increase the users strength.
But this is just my own option.
Enhancers are the powerhouse of the cell.
Netero being an enhancer makes sense. The 100 hand was able to toss around and kinda do damage to meruem. It would make sense that netero would enhance the power of the 100 hand through this way. He also probably makes use of enhancement to be so damn fast.
Ahhhh all these main characters having basic raw unconverted powers: Gon Jajaken Naruto Rasengan Goku Kamehameha and Ichigo with getsuga Tenshou. But yeah just basic raw unconverted energy attacks. Cool but basic
You need to be a Emitter to make the Dragon Ball style . Emitter can Separate Aura from their body

You forgot to mention Kurapika's Heal Chain which uses Enhancement to heal his wounds. Also Netero had trained for a very long time and it was until he finished his training that he developed the Technique so his Nen mastery was pretty high allowing him to use other disciplines, Bisky herself is able to use Manipulation while being a Transmuter, and I believe the Bodhisattva contained all his enhancement aura to strengthen itself being virtually an unstoppable force and I believe the Zero Hand is still Emision not transmutation.
It is also possible Netero had developed a Specialist skill, since it is mentioned that later in life, highly skilled Nen users can gain one.
I must be an enhancer, because whenever I see you uploaded a new video I simply hit like without thinking about it.
10:58 I think Maha Zoldyk is Zigg Zoldyk and he went to the dark continent because like Killua he probably stopped being a assasin but I find it strange still that he's a enhancer because Zigg Zoldyk had white hair apparently. Also on the Zoldyk family correlation chart it basically says he has nothing to do with the family which adds on that he probably was a ex assassin.
In the case of Netero, I think he is Enhacement by birth, and Specialist for his dedication to 10,000 fist of gratitude.
Specialists are all those who achieve mastery in a particular art, including sports and disciplines. In this case, Netero spent 40 years perfecting his 10,000 fist of gratitude.
This is my own explanation of Netero's Nen
Netero spent 4 years perfecting his 10,000 fists of gratitude. And the Hyakushiki Kannon uses so many Nen categories because Netero is so good at using Nen. It's possible to use multiple Nen categories so efficiently, but you can't do it like Kastro did.

That's a really interesting idea! I do think it's a very risky move. Wobble seems to like Kurapika, as... far as babies can voice their opinions, for all we know she just likes the shiny, red eyes. But even if he manages to get Wobble to trust Bill one hundred percent, Nen beasts act independently from their hosts. If the Prince's Nen beast, which we don't know anything about, feels threatened, it will kill Bill. And that's the best-case scenario. What if an condition is accidentally triggered? Prince Momoze's Nen Beast nearly wiped out the room in a couple of seconds and she was a pretty docile little girl.

Maybe netero enhances his body while using his hatsu to move even faster so the 100 type gyanyinbodishatsfa (excuse my spelling) could use attacks even faster. Combined with his raw physical strength that could help explain the speed of the attacks. Just a thought

I think enhancer is misunderstood a lot, i think even by the HXH characters, but i don't know about togashi's plans for it. However, the question is about what it "enhances", exactly? The rest, like manipulators, conjurators, emitters, and transmutation are self explanatory. Manipulate, make things appear, emit, make things change, etc. By definition then, enhancement is enhancement too ( i don't know how definition stands in japanese). So, in theory, nen users could enhance a property of its object, for example the sharpness of a sword, not just strenght or toughness. Enhance their nen, but also they may be able to enhance others.
Remember about the objects said to contain the nen of their authors when they are masterpieces or they have put their wills on them? Would an enhancer be able to call or increase the nen of such objects, to awaken abilities within them? And what if an enhancer choose to do the reverse? Instead of enhancing, having an ability to decrease its properties or something?
Maybe they can reach an specialization too, but its very difficult.
Enhancers enhance their body and physical objects like Shu. It doesnt enhance Nen itself, it enhance durability and power

@@aceclover758 You are vastly underestimating enhancement. It can clearly be used for much more. What does rapidly growing a plant have to do with improving strength/durability? What about Gon instantly turning into an adult? Enhancement can obviously be used on more abstract conceptual traits than just the raw strength of a physical object. It's probably just that enhancers can be relatively simple combined with the fact that standard enhancement is already a pretty powerful tool for battle.

What Gon did is unknown and seems similar to Bill in terms of what he did with his body, but on an extreme level but in theory, any Nen user can make a contract like Gon did: gain all the power they ever would have but death is the price or at least, not using Nen again
Enhancement, to me, is considered the most OP since one can dish out just as much as they can defend

But the most definite term of Enhacement is being able to use your aura to enhance your own body and objects.

I think that palm’s ability works by enhancing her natural clairvoyance.
One idea I have for an enhancer is to enhance the speed of your movements, to the point that you can run as fast as Killua or even faster. I also thought about slowing things down, but I’m not sure how you could do that with enhancement.
I thought of the same idea but with combination. Enhancement, transmutation and emission. Speed, acid or lava and being eble to shoot them
If I was an enhancer I'd max out my defense and focus my attack on my hands and staight objects only. So ticks swords and stuff like that

Wink blue and merman clairvoyance are enhancements of gyo. Just a theory though.
I think Palm's powers related to clairvoyance don't use an specific type of nen. Before her transformation, she needed that strange object she calls the Mermaid Corpse, that looks like is actually the corpse of a magic beast (like the Kirikos from the hunter exam arc). After her transformation, we see that she has a ball in her forehead that looks like the ball in the mermaid corpse. Also, she has scales now (mermaid scales?). I think Pouf and Pitou blended that object with Palm's body. There's also that scene where Knov says her blood is precious, so probably the mermaid corpse only works to her. Maybe she has some mermaid blood in her veins ?
If I were an enhancer I would create a Hatsu that enhances my healing factor so that I could heal any wound (even fatal ones) but at the cost that however long that ability would take to heal naturally is deducted from my life-span so say it would take 3 years for a person to regrow their head after being decapitated that would mean my head would regrow in seconds but my life-span would be cut by 3 years. Sounds OP but it would be quite risky since I can only activate and deactivate it I wouldn’t be able to specify which sounds to heal meaning every time I get a tiny cut while my ability is activated I would lose some time off my life meaning if my opponent knew about my ability they would just continually bruise and or cut me until I die of old age assuming don’t end up deactivating the ability and leaving myself open to be killed. (If the ability was activated I would be able to survive any wound even being decapitated but it would still cost me my life later down the track) if I died without activating it I would be able to activate it after death but at the cost of half my lifespan.

That was mostly for the chimera ant arc but you can see throughout how the more he learnt about nen the more darkness you could see in him. His blind determination to learn nen allowed for him to fall into that darkness by the end even though it really wasn't the cause.

Enhanced is so Miss used i feel like there are some ways to use it which would ve cool like strenghtening one part of the body only as a restriction for a stronget defends or attack while also enhancing the reaction speed so you can react way fastet and bettet with it and just ßove your defends point to react to the attack another could be to use emission or transmutation to make it into a Wind blast or something which you then enhance

I'd like to point out that enhancement allows you to enhance the properties of objects, technically the human body is an object, so are your neurons, you could use enhancement to enhance the speed at which your neurons fire off, receive, and respond to the reception of neurological signals. Muscle memory is just the ability of neurons to trigger a bodily response being made easier overtime by repeated use, using the application of enhancement i stated earlier you could do a specific technique once and enhance your neurons as you do so, and if you enhance them enough, establish a firm neurological pathway that you maybe didn't have nearly as well developed and make something you had only done once into a reflex if one practiced this application of enhancement enough to make it powerful enough to do so. Perhaps enhancers already do this to a certain degree because many of them excel at physical exploits, particularly fighting which heavily relies upon muscle memory, reflexes, and motor skills or as i like to call it motor neuron intelligence, because really it's your body's intelligence applied to interaction. Enhancers could enhance the photons as they come out of a laser pointer to be of significantly higher energy than the laser pointer could have ever produced by itself, and light mofos on fire. You could enhance the rate oxidation in the cleaning chemical lye and toss a measuring cup of lye powder at someone and melt their face off instantly. Wing stats enhance the properties of objects. Enhance. Properties. Objects. Honestly based upon that definition i would say enhancement is the best. The subatomic particle that produces gravitational forces exists in just about all matter we've encountered, that means that gravity is a property of objects, and as a pre-existing property of an object it can be enhanced by an enhancer, therefore an enhancer who does judo could adjust the local gravity around them as they are throwing someone so that the gravity increases just after they have passed the point that their victim is now plummeting to the ground, thus making the face full of planet that person is about to receive, that much more devastating. Or.... I could go on and on forever. Enhancement is a hammer. Hammers use leverage, mass, and acceleration to produce force. When i was 7, i used a 7lbs sledgehammer to flip a table by placing the handle under one edge of the table, rested it on a chair part way up the handle so to have a fulcrum and then dropped the head of the hammer, my mom was pissed, but i didn't get a ass beating until after the hammer was away because she was afraid of the sorcery i could do with it. If you truly understand information then you can achieve what others think is impossible because they do not.

great work.... youpi's ability to create limbs, wings, eyes are innate (just like Bats have echolocation), you forgot to mention enhancing items is Shu, when Uvogin threw the rock to Rabid Dog he used enhancement, Kurapika's healing ability is enhancment, Netero used enhancement on his training, also Gon's adult mode is enhancing his growth and lastly the pros about enhancement is that they use less nen on their abilities.

Enhancers can reinforce their bodies with their aura, which means that part of Netero's ability is the speed at which he moves. The samurai in the Phantom Troupe (forgetting his name) probably reinforces his sword, as well as using his En to determine where his target is, and uses his Nen flow to strike the target as soon as they touch his bubble.
I'm sure enhancement could be used in a lot of versatile ways. Increase in both offence and defence of the user and objects. An enhancer could probably control the mass and density in themselves or objects. Like make themselves heavier or sturdier and also increase the human physical limits as well. Speed,strength,agility,durability and raw power.
@Lalrivunga Hnamte the enhancement could mean in a sense that you either increase the quantity or mass of the atoms hence the water divination. I'm sure they might have wanted to go with the addition to the element or atom and not the change in it's state for enhancement
@Lalrivunga Hnamte I understand you but I'm saying that the enhancement in the show doesn't go strictly with it's laws. The water divination didn't even make sense too. Looking at all the enhancement type abilities, they seem to use nen aura or nen in general to make explosive attacks or strong defenses.

Discussion: i think Netero was a natural enhancer, but transformed into a Specialist. Being a specialist can happen through many ways, usually through time and special toward the user. Netero spent many years praying before his punches. I believe the bodhisattva was a specialist type, given his age and all the things it could do. Whenever he put up the praying hands, it would appear and all of his abilities seemed to be executed at 100%. His abilities were extremely powerful for him to only be an enhancer. Hope this comment finds people!

@UCL_hm9sg6XR4J1TWI9Cs8Mg Transmuters can only change the shape and quality of their aura to mimic natual properties. The aura surrounding holy chain does do either. It would be a conjuration and enhancement ability.

I would use enhancement with manipulation to create a hatsu that would amplify my attack that I transfer through the top layer like such as skin, for example if used on humans it would attack the organs without leaving so much as a bruise, this is if I was a combat user. If I had to use a more basic, I would simply use a attack
About Palms Black Widow, I actually think that it uses transmutation along with manipulation in order to work, since it doesn't seem to draw directly from her hair but takes the qualities of her hair, and dissipates the way a men construct would once she's finished using the ability

I know it was probably translated to "eh-rig-eh-ron" by some more official source, but Bills hatsu is in homage to the novel "Flowers for *Algernon* ", with its bolstering element mirroring the procedure that gave Charlie *enhanced* growth of his mental state by an outside source. I'm fairly sure his ability is supposed to be pronounced Algernon.
