  • FORMENTERA 2021: The first time I saw images of Formentera Island was during a screening of Julio Medem's film "Sex and Lucia" (Lucia y el Sexo) back in 2001 in NYC. I was so intrigued by the beautiful cinematography in that location that I promised to myself that one day I would travel there. And so we did to "Ibiza's Hippy Sister"! Peter and I during our first trip to Spain in 2014 had the opportunity to spend a day on this under-the-radar Spanish island which can be reached within 30 minute by Ferries from Ibiza. Back then we rented some scooters to travel around (only 12 miles long) and get to explore some of the sites including the spectacular beach of Ses Illetes and Trucadors (shown in Medem's film). Coming back to Formentera during the pandemic was surreal as we got to appreciate Nature's beauty in a much less crowded space. With only 24 hours and somewhat overcast weather that didn't stop us to savor every minute of it! Formentera is the smallest and more southerly Balearic Island of the "Pityusic Islands"" (Pine Islands) group comprising Ibiza, Formentera, as well as various small islets. Some music fact Trivia: Joni Mitchell wrote her 1971 album Blue on the island while Bob Dylan once lived in the Cap de Barbaria lighthouse on the island as well as 1960-70's hideaway for Bob Marley, Pink Floyd, and Jimi Hendrix!
    Hope you enjoy it. CHEERS!
