    Does Alan speak Tibetan?

Certainly does. She is a native speaker.

@@azice01 thanks! That’s awesome. I wasn’t sure if she was still learning to speak it. I saw one video where some Tibetan friends were helping her pronounce the lyrics of a Tibetan song. Maybe shes not used to a certain variety of Tibetan. Or maybe I misinterpreted. In any case I think it’s spectacular that she identifies so strongly with Tibet despite the hostility of the Chinese govt

@@kcashinb she is Qiang. she isnt singing in chinese in this video. she is a native Qiang speaker. Thats the fore father of tibetan language.

@@kcashinb she is born in Sichuan. Qiang language is similar but its not completely tibetan. I would say its just a dialect of tibetan. There is no hostility by the chinese government, china is getting richer, its not 1950s anymore

@@kcashinb why don’t you travel to Tibet instead of repeating the narrative you were taught.

Alan just plays on Tibetan exoticism but is the typical artificial dolly-looking pop star with weak wispy vocals that Chinese Korean people tend to like. No thanks, real Tibetans like full-throated Tibetan vocal talents like Lhakyi and Ngodup Dolma who sing authentic Tibetan melodies. Even in the pop genre, Yangchuk Tso and Wotsoma are better than her, Alan is big just because of her Chinese fan base.

Haters gonna hate. And while I get your criticism that’s just a choice she made to appeal to a larger fan base. She did get her start by going to Japan first after all.

@@zeitgeistx5239If you ‘got my criticism’, what was the point of responding with the juvenile internet clawback of ‘haters gonna hate’. Good for her if she’s raking in the moolah from her Chinese fanbase. But I’ll categorically stand by my point that East Asians have bad musical tastes perhaps because their own pop genres are totally imitated from the most pedestrian commercial western pop as their own traditional folk music I sounds like caterwauling. OTOH even with a minuscule population, Tibetans have a medley of folk and classical operatic genres with many tremendous singers taking it in new directions. And I do resent that instead of them Alan is being propped up as a representative of Tibetan music just because the Chinese fanbase have shit musical taste.

@@MrMrbokchoi There are other Tibetan artists who sing in the pop and even hip hop genre, who are leagues better than Alan, with absolutely superior vocals and talent composing their own songs. I listen to everything from Beethoven to Bob Marley, from Mongolian throat singing to Hindustani classical to Bollywood tunes, I admire many artists across the Tibetan folk, classical and pop. Genre ain't the issue, Alan's lack of talent of certainly is my bugbear. She will only appeal to Chinese mass audiences numbed by their synthetic imitative cantopop style music. People have differing tastes depending on their aesthetic development, I don't like Rachmaninoff and if someone explained to me how I didn't have the superior ear to appreciate him, I would listen to the reasoning and accept his viewpoint. Chinese pop culture taste is objectively shitty, so keep all your virtue signalling about 'equality of opinion' and 'artists choice' to yourself, and instead invest all your concern for equality, freedom and democracy in changing the oppressive political climate of your country. Your government literally imprisons and tortures Tibetans for even making a political statement, your army shot into unarmed protesters in 2008 and killed about 400 people in Tibet, so back off Bok Choi.
