I always like to see your roof videos. As a Winnebago owner, I’ve learned I have to inspect my roof every few months. I like Winnebago motorhomes but do NOT like their roof design. Thank you
Amazing work guys. Its a shame how they kind of cut corners at the buyers expense. Motorhomes are not cheap and they are in need of constant repair. You actually amaze me at the detail and time you take to make sure the job is done right. We appreciate your work and keep the videos coming
Great videos. Well done (and addicting)! Q1: How do you know inside Luan is OK? Have you ever replaced that? Q2: Styrofoam has to be fractured in that coach. Does canned foam return full strength? Does it matter as long as new luan is glued down good? I am considering a 2014 Winnebago Vista 35B,
Hi James. I ran into you at Carefree Dist the other day. Your videos are always informative and entertaining. We do a lot a roof jobs at the RV service shop I work at, not far from Cassone's. Roof insurance work on RVs is labor intensive and very expensive. That kind of damage on a lower end motor home that old would have likely been totaled by the insurance provider. I'm glad they got it covered, I'll bet that claim was well over 15k.
This is eye opening, really tells you about the quality across all of the Winnebago products. I thought that Minnie Winnie was bad… If there was a way for you to do full tear down reviews on new rigs, you’ve really got yourself a UA-cam series! 😂
I have had 3 Winnebago's including a Minnie Winnie I have been impressed by the quality, but I am meticulous about maintenance. I have not really had problems with Winnebago's two of them had solid sheets of aluminum as the roof and were extremely durable and strong the last one I had was a fiberglass roof like the one in this video and although I wish they had an aluminum frame like my current Holiday Rambler Endeavor other than that I personally find them to be excellent quality! Better than most I also own two Forrest river toy haulers and have had a lot of experience with RVs. Winnabeggo is near the top in quality in comparison to most brands in my experience!
You do very nice work! I know you mentioned in another video that you really don't care for roof coatings. We were thinking of RV armor which has a lifetime guarantee. But I would love to hear your opinion as to why you don't really care for them or I should say coatings
Thanks James... Is there a number per liner foot for new roof install? Or just a parts & material with labor charged? Just curious as an old retired auto repair shop owner.
Love your videos. Have you ever had to repair a floating roof, fiberglass laminated to particle board? The reason I ask is I have a 2018 Sonic SN231VRL . The roof, front and rear are all one piece. Like many others it flexes and warps. In the event of a rupture, how do they repair it. Will it flex the same if they cut the bad part out and try to patch the hole. What do they use to patch it. Or do they have to replace the whole roof?
I hope you are being well paid for these roof repairs. The process looks extreme with alot of heavy manual labor. Add to it the heat from Pheonix in the summer and it better be raining money for these jobs. Well done.
Love the videos! Curious, I have watched many of your videos on WB roof issues but have not seen any for View/Navion sprinter class. Are they slightly better constructed (hoping)?
When you put new ply down on a roof, does it need to be sealed before installing the new membrane? If so, is there a recommended product to seal with? Thank you
Beautiful job, guys. I Need advice, please. 2002 Journey WPK32T, the filon has not pulled out of the radius rail, yet the filon is loose from the radius edge going the entire length of the RV, both sides. It now has an air gap (I can push and see it go down and up) from the radius plus one foot parallel to the edge, from end to end. Should I cut the filon right at the end caps inward a foot so I can lift the filon and reseal it with contact cement? After reattaching the filon to the plywood and radius, I would do the geocel to the tuck point. The filon itself is in one piece and in good condition. Please let me know if I am on the right track. Taking the end caps off might be overkill since the lap sealant will reseal the edge where the end cap overlaps the roof filon. On the other hand, is it best to remove the end caps, and I am overstating the effort to R&R?
Love watching your videos. I have a quick question for you. I have a Super Flex roof- can I use Dicor sealant on it? I keep reading different answers online. Some say you can only use super flex sealant and some people say they use dicor anyway. I can’t find a definitive answer. Can you help?
New roof looks wonderful, I can’t explain it but your roof repaired videos are some of my favorites, I watch them all. It does look like a costly repair, about how many man hours are involved in that roof repair?
Can you make a video of the different kinds of roof materials and what kind of sealant you use on each one ? I have a 2003 Endeavor with a aluminum roof that the seams are taped and the tape is coming loose . I need to know what to do and what sealant to use . I like your channel it has a lot of good information thanks Robert
Thanks James. My 2005 Gulfstream diesel toy hauler actually sustained golf ball sized hail in 2019 after which water penetrated the EPDM. I had already bought the roof coating with plans to re-coat BEFORE the hail storm hit....what a shame. Now I have roofing ply that has partially de-laminated ply/ with some rot. Main issue presently is that 4 ft. X 9 ft plywood is difficult to find. I wanted to have 3/8" plywood to replace my decking. I can find 1/4 " ply and lauan . What is your thought on having the repair shop remove most of the original sub roof ply, staple 1/4 ' ply to the wood trusses, and glue 1/4 or 1/8" lauan to the plywood before gluing the EPDM down ? I wanted 3/8 in. ply for additional strength for foot traffic since I have a 2' x 2' escape/roof access hatch and may add solar panels in the future. Have you had any issues like this ? JwgK in Houston, TX
You haven't seen my roof 😂 No seriously, it's much worse. I'm rebuilding it right now and it's just terrible. The rebuild is going better than expected though!

What did you charge for that roof? Mine was done for 3k as a training special. There's a guy in GA that charges almost $10k to $15k for a complete new roof.
To give an example, my brother in law is getting a new TPO roof on his 2010 Winnebago Journey and it was not nearly as bad as this one as his roof is still strong enough to support people. Part of his blew off in a windstorm. His is going to cost $18,000, but luckily covered by insurance.
