Tuesday Evening, BFD B-Shift was dispatched to the 9300 block of Lee Road 279 for a report of a residence filling with smoke. The caller was reporting a smoke condition inside the structure without flames.
Upon arrival, firefighters found a single story, wood frame, residential structure with no signs of smoke or fire from the exterior. Upon further investigation, firefighters found a moderate smoke condition inside the residence. Firefighters used Thermal Imaging Cameras to locate the source of the smoke, and after further investigation, a moderate amount of fire was located underneath the residence with possible extension into the interior. The call was then upgraded to a working structure fire bringing additional resources to the scene. Firefighters had to access the fire by crawling through a void space underneath the residence that was approximately 30ft in length, and 1 1/2ft in height. The fire was quickly extinguished without any extension into the interior of the residence. The cause was determined to be faulty electrical equipment, and no injuries were reported on scene.
Beulah Fire Department responded with three apparatus, four personnel, and were on scene for two hours before returning to service. Salem Volunteer Fire Department also responded to the scene.
