    A month walking and camping the Jeju Olle Trail in South Korea. In the final part of the series we finish the 425km Olle Trail, completing our circuit of Jeju Island and venturing to Chuja-do.
    Our final stretch starts on Route 13, heading up the west and north coasts all the way back to Jeju City, before taking a ferry half-way back to the mainland to complete Route 18-1 on Chuja Island.
    The highlight of Route 13 is undoubtedly Jeoji Oreum, where we decide to camp for the night and are treated to a spectacular sunset and sunrise. We tackle Route 14-1 and most of Route 14 in a mammoth day, the furthest we’ve ever walked! From the dense forest gotjawal and O’Sulloc green tea fields of Route 14-1 to the idyllic Geumneung Beach, it’s quite the day.
    At Geumneung we camp by the beach, get up close with haenyeo (Jeju’s female free divers), cafe hop and enjoy a well earned rest day. Continuing on we wind our way around the coast to camp at picture-perfect Gwakji Beach. Route 15’s Handam Seaside Walkway stops us in our tracks numerous times and on Route 16 we tackle more oreums. Route 17 takes us past more beaches and coastal trails, finally making it back to the Ganse Lounge in Jeju City, a month after we started.
    With just one Jeju Olle Trail route to go, we jump on the ferry to Chuja Island to complete Route 18-1. We toast our grand finale with our much loved makgeolli (fermented rice wine) and just like that, our Jeju Olle Adventure is over!

      @@GoingTheWholeHogg Not yet. The pandemic delayed my relocation plans to 2022. I'm planning a couple trips before then, and the Jeju Olle Trail will be one of them. I'm an over-planner, so your detailed videos and maps are perfect. If you don't mind: When would you say it's too cold to hike or solo camp? I have some camping experience, although not solo, but find it less enjoyable when it's too cold. Are there rental options available for camping equipment?

    • @GoingTheWholeHogg
      @GoingTheWholeHogg  3 роки тому +1

      @@malinda.malinda I'm sure you'll have a great time when you finally make it there! Glad to provide the info you need to plan your trip. I'd say November or December to April could be a bit chilly, and then of course July - August will be pretty hot. So, if possible spring and autumn are perfect! I don't know of anywhere to rent camping gear, but there are many outdoor shops where you could buy camping gear.

    Awesome guys! I plan to hit the Olle trail this summer if Coronavirus disappears into thin air. Other than camping out, how was finding cheap places to stay along the way? I don't think it's possible to book them in advance if one is constantly moving. I hope in June/July, the small hotels and pensions along the coastlines are not fully booked.

    • @GoingTheWholeHogg
      @GoingTheWholeHogg  4 роки тому

      Sorry for the late reply, just found your comment now! We had no problem booking accommodation last minute (the day before) through booking dot com for the few times we stayed in places instead of camping (we walked it mid-May to mid-June). We had data connection on our phones every day, so just jumped online and found somewhere. We've written 4 different blog posts covering all of the routes and linked to possible hostels/pensions/hotels, etc. along the way, you can find links to each blog post in the video description, or find them on our Korea page on the blog - bit.ly/32Grmkf. It was usually cheaper to book online than just show up. I think tourism will be down this year on the island. Of course, there will be plenty of domestic tourists as always, but I wouldn't be concerned about everywhere being booked up. The peak season for domestic tourism is usually the end of July/start of August when most people have their summer vacation. Hope this helps and enjoy the Olle!
