    I'm watching your channel from Japan. In our country, we don't have good enough guidance about tummy time. I wish I'd know it much earlier... anyway through your videos I learnt how important tummy time, how to do it, and how to have fun. And English you speak is beautiful it's helpful for me who learn english too :)
    Thank you so much for the excellent information videos!

    Many thanks for your helpful videos. My son is 4 months but absolutely hates tummy time. He finds it very frustrating and tiring and will cry so hard to be placed back on his back. Any tips please?

      We started with our son in a much more reclined position ie on your belly in the recliner or on the ball with him back far enough to keep his body at a 45 degree angle. This way they aren’t struggling as much at first because gravity isn’t pushing as hard on them at this angle. The rolled up towel technique she uses helps too, or maybe try a wedge? Also starting with just one minute and slowly working your way up to more as he tolerates should help. I think all babies are different though so as long as you are working on it and they are making little bits of progress at a time I still think that’s good!

    This was so helpful showing the many ways to do tummy time bc I dont think my son is doing this good bc i dont do tummy time bc on the floor he doesn't like it he starts breathing fast and he looks like he gets worn out fast and i feel bad so I pick him up but the Football hold is perfect I'm going to try that.Thank you. At least until he can hold his head up better. 👍🏽

    My son is 10 weeks old and he hates tummy time. I have tried all possible positions for tummy time, even bought a boppy pillow and he still hates it. He cries a minute after I put him on his tummy. Every time I put his arm upfront he moves them on his sides and that doesn't help. I start worrying because he is 10 weeks old and can do it at all. Any advice ia appreciated.

    I love the lights under the blanket idea! Sorry this is slightly off topic but my five month old rolls all the time to his tummy but once he’s on tummy time can’t figure out how to roll back and gets so frustrated trying. Is there a good way to help him figure it out? Thanks for your videos you are so relaxing to listen to and I also love your baby led weaning videos because we are near that age and I’m trying to learn everything!

    • @mhollenbeckful
      @mhollenbeckful 6 років тому +1

      Mrs. Nomad yes!! I know they will figure it out eventually but I want to help him as much as I can to speed it up!

    • @MrsNomad-qt1yh
      @MrsNomad-qt1yh 6 років тому +1

      Michelle Martel I wouldn’t mind waiting it out but she flips over in her sleep and wakes up crying a few times a night. Also, I read that rolling from back to tummy uses more strength or muscles than tummy to back. So maybe they’re able to go from tummy to back but they just haven’t discovered that they have the skill.

    • @nekoleamber
      @nekoleamber  6 років тому +5

      Thank you so much for your kind words!! It sounds like he is on the right track and will likely get to rolling to his back soon, but if you want to "segment" the rolling to help him with "steps". For example, when he is on his tummy, help him roll to his side and then allow him to do the rest of the work to get to his back. Placing him on his side may allow him to teeter and figure out what muscles he needs to use to go backward instead of forward. If he continues to roll forward instead of back when on his side, start to slightly tip his hips back so he can feel the movement. As I am sure you know, making it playful and fun is most important and how most of the learning happens :) Hope that helps!

Or may be when she gets hair it may cover that ?!

      @nekoleamber  5 років тому +1

      Hi there!! Has your pediatrician had a chance to look at your daughter's head? Many times plagiocephaly is easily corrected with a helmet. This is something your pediatrician would work with you on to see if it is necessary. When your little one is awake, try to reduce lying on her back as much as possible. Babies heads are still very soft until around a year old and can be shaped with proper orthotics.

    I have a question relating OT school. I am currently in undergrad and I am debating whether I should go the SLP or OT route. I plan on working within the pediatrics field. However, the only concern I have with OT (and this may sound petty) is the toileting aspect. I love the holistic approach to OT, but having to toilet kids isn't quite for me. I am from LA, and I know you graduated from CSUDH which would be my first choice. My question is, did toileting play a big part in your grad program? Also, do you deal with that once in the pediatric field? Thank you so much in advance!

    • @nekoleamber
      @nekoleamber  6 років тому +2

      Hi there! Haha I hear ya! It isn't my favorite either, but typically you are doing simulation instead of actually toilet-ing. It is unusual that your therapy session will align perfectly with their need to use the restroom. So you will break down the skills needed to do the actual task (e.g. reaching behind you, folding toilet paper, cleaning a doll, etc) and have parents apply the newly learned skills at home. We certainly do help kids with the toilet as needed, but you would be surprised how minimal it is. If you are in a SNF or hospital, that is a completely different story! But it sounds like you want to work with peds. :) As far as the program, the only time you will be encountering that is during your fieldwork rotations. I had to do it a lot when working in the hospital and SNF but very rarely when I was in my pediatric rotation. Hope that helps!

      You can start whenever and incorporate tummy time into their routine so doing tummy time when doing your diaper routine would be perfect but I’d do ten minutes each session three times a day. I haven’t started yet and my baby is almost a month. Starting the first of January.
