Excellent review! I purchased the high step XPress 750 version. It is the best tuned ebike that I’ve owned so far. It’s also very powerful and fast. Lectric e-bikes absolutely knows what they are doing when it comes to designing and building e-bikes. Trust me, this is the ebike that you want to buy.

How load is the motor? Someone said it’s not too quite

@@davidwollmer8694 I think the motor is a little quieter than average 750W motor. However, it’s not quietest motor out there. I am of course speaking specifically about the 750W of which I own. I do not know about the 500W.

For me the decision between step through and high step was because of my use case. If I were prioritizing a comfortable ride on high PAS, step through would definitely make sense with seat suspension and a seat with a lot of cushioning in the sit bones. However my priority was a fitness bike, so a high step allows for a more forward ride, better power delivery for my legs, and the seat is more adequate for the forward position. I'm really loving my Xpress 750 high step. Last weekend I went on a 48 mile trail ride and only used 29% on PAS1 (extend to 160 mi range!). Very comfortable for me and I was able to use a lot of leg for the whole trip. Definitely an excellent bike for more then one kind of rider

Great review. We went with the Xpress 750, but after seeing this review, I think we would have been happy with the 500 watt motor. For us, having the upright riding position with the sweptback handlebars was key. So we ordered the step-throughs. We recently swapped out our regular hybrid bikes straight handlebars with some North Road sweptback bars and that made a huge difference in riding comfort. We're sold on the more relaxed upright riding position.

Wife and I went on a picnic today. Hauled 2 extra batteries, food, ext. Probably an extra 30 lbs or so in back basket. I weigh around 185. Went around 30 miles.
And I felt the dreaded wobble repeatedly I've heard others talk about.
Anytime I went over 15 mph and turned or braked I got the frame flexing.
So I'd say the xpress step through is definitely not a cargo bike in any way shape or form.
Never felt that on any of our other ebikes.

Great bike! especially for the price. My wife and I are going to be getting our first ebikes. We have gone on 1 rental ride, which used a Trek step thru with mid drive. My wife felt it was a bit big for her. She, as well as some shorter riders, prefer to be able to have their feet on the ground while stopped and still seated. For full leg extension, my mtn bike setting makes it so I cant do that, but I have no problem steadying the bike with one foot on the ground, and my other foot on the opposite petal, or just standing over the frame. But, if giving up leg extension to gain more confidence and feeling of control by being able to have both feet on the ground, then that is the sizing we will get for her. I saw another reviewer that had one video that showed his 5'4" wife trying out 7-8 bikes he had on hand. She liked having her feet on the ground while stopped also, and found only 2 of the bikes to be comfortable to her. I mention all this as it might be of service to some viewers to have a short segment in your reviews, especially the step thru or 20 inchers, to have your wife on the bike to show how the bike fits. I think this would help my wife to know what to look for.

That what the step through is for. Just slide forward off the seat to put your feet down.

I was only able to ride mine for about 4 miles before the motor stopped working. Customer service ordered a replacement but will take until the end of October to ship since it's a new model. Hopefully I won't have any issues with the replacement

Id love for the $1000 model to have an upgraded battery option so you don't need to spend $400 more to get the 750w. I'm guessing for now it is intentional. Would also love to see Lectric never use the push button shifter again. An 8 speed trigger shifter would be a huge improvement.

This is a pretty awesome bike (I have the high step 750). The torque sensor is quite unique and really lets you ride the bike in a lot of different ways. Its actually quite torquey, its 0 to 20 on the throttle is pretty impressive, even had the front wheel bump up a little on occasion lol. My single complaint which applies to almost every ebike is that the gearing is not set up to pedal at a lower cadence while approaching top speeds (28 in this case). While this bike is better than some due to the 11T rear sprocket, the 46t crank is a little too small and what happens is that riding PAS above 24-25 gets kind of non-sustainable and I think that is because the rpms are just too high at that speed to feel like maintaining for long. The 750 watt motor routinely throws up >1300 watts so I don't think its a power issue at all, just a gearing issue. I will be replacing the front crank but that looks a bit of a pain because it appears that the chain guard is sort of molded onto the frame and a bigger crank would bump hit it so I will need to try and remove that part of the chain guard and see if I can get a 50t or 52t in there. Other than that, this is a really cool bike - love the sound too. Not super loud but somehow I like it - don't know why. I have a bike with a pure torque sensor and a few with cadence sensors and this is definitely my favorite, hits the sweet spot in between somehow. Also there are a lot of custom PAS set levels which allow you to work differently between levels and throttle and what not....

Thank you for this very thorough review. For me, 500W is more than enough for riding around my area, but it I was to ride out to Saguaro Lake which is more mountainous, I suppose the 750w would be best. But I doubt whether I would venture out that far. My only concern is those swept back handlebars. Looking at your hand position, it doesn’t look natural. But I would have to try it to see how it would feel. Since Lectric Bikes is not far from where I live, I can certainly give one a try.

Thank you Ryan, for this excellent review! My wife and I ordered the Xpress 500 for her using your affiliate link, based largely on the great information you've provided here. She previously rode an Aventon Soltera.2, and this will be a huge improvement in the riding experience for her. When riding on flat ground, she likes to ride with minimal assistance from the motor, so I expect she'll get excellent range. I'm wondering how much heavier the Xpress 750 is versus the 500? In their specs, Lectric shows the weight of both bikes to be the same, but I would think that with the smaller motor and battery, the 500 would be a couple of pounds lighter. I'm sure you will cover this when you do the comparison review between the two models. Thanks again!!

How do I instal a rear cargo basket? Lectric's baskets webpage doesn't mention this model is compatible. :/

I just got the 750 Step Thru and my only big complaint so far is the headlight I got is the mini one (same as yours), while on their website and manual pics they show the big "premium" headlight.

I know on the XPeak there is an issue with the front tire hitting a person's foot when turning. Did you notice this with the XPress?

Do you know if the tires in Lectric XPress are tubeless or with inner tube in them? and can you just switch to the other kind of tire, or do you need to switch the rim to?

I have not experienced that with my XPress - I actually bought the stepover because of that concern though I have not heard of that issue with the Cruiser either but I'd defer to others.

Try this one out. If you pedal when you ride like I do, the 750 is the bike for you. I love it. The battery has never fun out in any of my travels. Adjust the handlebar height and change the seat.
