I was wondering why this sounded so extremely different, then I realized it’s bc there’s no clarinet! It’s missing it’s higher version of the melody

Woah, this version somehow sounds a lot more dangerous than the other. The lyrics somehow come off more as a concealed threat in this one, like a cat chirping to attract in a bird before killing it. I don’t know if it’s just me getting that vibe, but I seriously love it
I agree, and I like your metaphor! There's an oddly seducing tone to this version that makes it ring as if there was some deception hidden behind the words...
it's the lack of flutes, the flutes add a whimsical nature to a more earthy and grim sort of sound. Without the flutes, it's more obvious of it's grimness. I also think it's just the way it's sung in the live version has a little more gravel and base, just my thoughts tho.

Same as others here: I discovered this particular song one year ago in my recommendations, and I'm so glad it happened. Your albums were so great; yet I was sad to discover that most of your songs at the time were from a few years before already. And now! This new batch of live releases! It is both unexpected and incredibly great.

The growl on "house" in "house don't feel like home" is so feral and gorgeous. It really sells the fury of discovering that the place that is supposed to be your safe haven is not only failing to save you, but actively harming you.
Usually when an artist I follow releases a new album, I pick through it discerning the good songs from the bad. I can't do that here. Every song here is a friggin' masterpiece.
I think I have yet to find a crane wives song that I legitimately don't like. No matter what I always end up loving it

In actuality, this is insanely awesome. This is the first song I heard from this band, and I love it. It definitely gets me in the creative mood.
I found this band through an animation using this song and quickly fell in love. I have yet to stray away from this specific song, because I have a bit of trouble straying away from songs I know, but I'm sure all your songs are great! Also, to whoever sings this one, you have a great voice! It's so beautiful. ❤
