Nice to see you doing what I do - filiming butterflies! I guess there was no evidence of the Purple Emperor - i've not been able to film one this summer
I started wildlife photography with Butterflies they scored 10/10 at Camera club, if done well. No evidence of the Purple Emperor hopefully not washed away at Bentley Wood . No other photographers or Bananas on the visitor notice board either ! 🤔
Did you find the Sony in-camera focus bracketing feature is just to slow for live insects, even on the slowest setting between shots? To me, it seems Sony has once again not thought thru the applications use. Hopefully a future firmware upgrade will right this & enable the feature to fully compete with the OMsystem focus stacking application.
Well it is the first in camera bracketing system I have used so I haven't worked it out. I selected the shortest time between shots, so I can see what you mean . Any wind or movement can ruin the shot 🤔
@@CamillaISorry I meant shortest between shots. I have the A1 but bought the A6700 for this feature for Insect macro flash bracketing but sadly I don’t think it will suitable for live insects most of the time. Fingers crossed Sony will update the application sometime. Great video by the way.
@@CowboyJoe-d9o Yes that's what I thought, hopefully update coming 🤞thanks for watching and commenting 🖐
Morning mark keep up the great work and mastering the A9iii, I decided not to buy the A9iii even though it’s a great camera I decided to pull the trigger on a z8 instead as it will be more practical and more suited for my use it was a very hard to choose though to be honest I kept swaying back and fourth ,have a great weekend and look forward to seeing your work
Good video mate, how did you find the focus stacking? Olympus seems to have nailed it. All the best Steve.
Yes Olympus is best apparently as the delay between shots on the A9III is slower making hand held windy conditions difficult ! A firmware upgrade should sort this out 👌
@@CamillaI The Nikon version of focus stacking is unusable hand held. You have to go back into the menu and press start to get it going. Nikon needs to sort this out!
Hi! I have so important quesiton to you. What is the max shutter speed with sync flash, to focus bracketing, on ELECTRONIC / MECHANICAL shutter?
For example OM-1 is 1/100 on electronic shutter, something around 1/250 on mechanical (both sync flash)
I am thinking of using flash for insect photography, but thus far I haven't used it ! The Electronic flash sync is off the chart I believe, but as for how it syncs with the flash clueless at present . Not sure who to consult on UA-cam . Probably ask Sony 🤔
@@CamillaI I think you did a good answer, if Sony doesn't know then who.
@@CamillaI The Sony a6700 is only able to use flash in mechanical shutter syncs at a max of 1/160ss. You can use High speed flash if your flash can handle it but only up to 1/4000ss in mechanical. The focus bracketing feature is only really useable with static subjects. A good place for information about the macro world using flash would be www.youtube.com/@naturefold/videos
@@CowboyJoe-d9o Thanks for the info 👍
Hi I managed to get hold of an A9iii but cant decide weather to get the Sony 100-400 GM or the 200-600 G I have owned a 200-600 G but found it quite heavy. Any thoughts or advice? Your experienced opinion would be greatly appreciated.
I recently sold my 100-400mm GM, originally the only lens in the Sony line up with any reach. Optically it is better and lighter than the 200-600, but the reach is crucial getting to 600mm at f6.3 . So it depends on how far the majority of your subjects are away.
And of course budget ! I now use the 300mm with 2.0 TC to get to 600m at f5.6. Obviously light and sharper and far more expensive. 🤔
@@CamillaI Yes any of the long fast primes are out of my budget, I think a 100-400 GM plus 1.4 tc would be a better bet than the 200-600. ?
@@ajs1501 I would go for the 200-600 f6.3 over the 100-400mm with 1.4 TC 560mm at f8 if you are going for reach. Unless you also use the close focus ability of the 100-400 for macro style shots it has a shorter minimum focus
@@ajs1501 I have the Sony 100-400, 200-600 and the 600 f4. I can tell you that the 200-600 is almost as sharp as my 600. There is the F4 against f6.3 difference of course. I use my 100-400 for close up garden work (Hummingbird Hawkmoths etc) only. I'd use tcs with care and generally on the end of a prime lens only really. You'll be very happy with 200-600.
@@RichardBedford-p3q Which camera body do you use ? I had (sold it) a 400 2.8 and with the A4R the 200-600 was a bit soft and not close to the quality of the 400mm . I am thinking of the 300 2.8 now (with the 1.4,2x teleconverters) , I have a 7r5 and an A9...TIA
