I have one of Charles’s standard Silktone amps, which is more a blackpanel style but with the added feature of a switch to bypass the tone stack. It’s by far my favourite amp right now. Versatile, sweet sound but with a brutally responsive open spund with the stack bypassed. And beautifully made. I’ve been looking for something gritty to compliment the Silktone in a two amp setup and that would also record well - this looks and sounds just right for me. I put my name on the waiting list for the Micronaut a week or so ago (Justin I.) having seen Ryan’s (Demos in the Dark) demo, and now this has just affirmed my choice. Brilliant sounding, dynamic and direct little beast with surprising versatility - and if it’s built like my standard Silktone this will not disappoint.

Makes me proud of my own DIY low watt amp build. I like it better.
The Micronaut is absolutely killer as a bass amp, in my view. The amp has a tremendous amount of midrange, which can easily be tamed with a Boss GE-7 or MXR EQ pedal, or possibly a different speaker/cabinet. I play it through a little Vox 8" cabinet. It sounds great going direct into a recording interface. It is very expensive for what it is, but it's also unique.

Hi JLJ... funny my name abbreviated is LJL... great video. I'm using several amps but the closest thing I have is the Blackstar Fly Mini... a totally different animal, yet pretty cool little amp (owned it 10 years now and still rocks!) I do have some smaller gain amps, including a vintage Roland JC90... with stereo 2x10s ... still loud... but for tube amps my Blackstar HT Studio 20 1x12 treats me pretty good, and my EVH Iconic I0 water had into an orange cab with 2x12 V30s has an attenuator that bites it to 20 watts.... in the room, still pretty loud... and has a surprisingly nice clean and rockin' crunch channel. That little thing is super cool though... I'd like to have something like that in the living room! My wife might even approve... it's so cute! ❤😎🎸🤘🐦🥒

Omg the hum coming through those pickup's would drive me absolutely out of my mind. Sounds like a fun amp though.

It’s not cheap, but it’s good. Would you say the same thing about a $1,700.00 Telecaster, knowing that you can have a Telecaster for $400.00?
Personally I think it’s a wonderful studio tool. You can get an AC30 with Greenbacks for the same price (new), or with Alnico Blues (2nd hand) and they’re wonderful, but completely different.
You can buy hand built pedals for $450.00 and even more. Simple overdrives. It’s all a matter of what you want, what you (think you) need and what you’re willing to pay for it.
I love this little amp so much that I’d be willing to pay this amount of money, but unfortunately my wallet sounds hollow these days. 😊
Let me know when you find a really well built, handwired amp with Soursound transformers for less..

Nope, not for that price. Once you add the price of the cab, you might as well buy almost anything else. An Orange Micro Dark can do this. Or for the head price, you could get a hand built Brunetti combo. One man's opinion.

Soon as those clean tones came in my god. . All I could think of is "Make A Fist" by Phantogram(Live at WFUV). So damn *Futuristic* imo.
