    They are sold here as Diptail Tetras, but other places call them --Hemiodus gracilis “Red Tail Hemiodus”

    Not positive, but think those fish towards beginning of video are Hemiodus gracilis.

    What’s that fish at 12:37 ?

    • @FishTankBarn
      @FishTankBarn  2 роки тому

      Looks to be a wild type molly. Unfortunately the tanks weren't labelled so it is hard to tell unless you knew the speices specifically.

    So tell me... What us the kargest live bearing fish? I have. 75 gallon show tank that I want to set up and I thought it would be nice to get a big live bearing tank started.

    • @FishTankBarn
      @FishTankBarn  Рік тому

      Freshwater stingrays are the largest livebearers but I don't think is what you are going for. For your typical livebearers, I would look into the Pike Livebearer Belonesox belizanus or the bulldog Goodeid Allophorous Robustus.

    Great Vid! Those Gambusia that you caught are almost certainly G. holbrooki, and as you know the three that you showed are females. I hope you got a male or two. If not, you may still be able to get some fry. If you haven't worked with Gambusia before you should know that they are the best fry eaters out there. The only way that I have been able to get fry out of G. holbrooki or G. rhizhophorae is to put a heavily pregnant female in a filtered five gallon bucket with a huge spawning mop and my recoveries have always been small. I had to get rid of my G. holbrooki as I discovered that they are not legal to keep in NY. They were cool fish, I miss them. Good luck with yours.
    Cheers,
    Chris

      Thanks Chris! I will have to check and see if I have males. Hopefully they are hit if I dont have males.

      @@FishTankBarn you may get some melanistic fry. The trait is passed from father to son and is reasonably common in some Florida populations. Definitely a cool fish!
      Cheers,
      Chris
