    Another thing they been using those same buffalos and songs, since I was a kid and they still do

      One song is around 10-15 minutes. These types of dances do 3 sets so one round is about 30- 45 minutes. You dance at least 8 times throughout the day. Total of 24 songs. Kids start dancing as early as 6yrs.

    Wait, did the original range of the buffalo include the desert-southwest? I thought buffalo didn't extend further west than The Rockies?

      John Weiss + In precolonial times, the domain of native tribes had no solid borders, some areas overlapped. They drew no lines and committed to staying on one side. In January, Hopi men would travel to the Plains and hunt buffalo. This dance commemorates that. :-)
