If y'all look closely you will see the eggos when Lucas took them to where eddie was "hiding" which shows he actually took them to Hopper's cabin instead of Reefer Rick's house

Lucas definely sent them to hopper old cabin he needed to send them in a different direction throw come some people didn’t see that
Since there was no explicit reaction, I'm wondering if you guys caught that Lucas took the jocks to Hopper and Elevens old Cabin from Season 2/3! Just a fun detail that hammers home where Lucas' loyalties truly lie as we move into the next episode, which is one of the best of the season! Very excited to see your reaction to it!
I’m with them… I didn’t get that until a reactor pointed it out.
I think the show caused a bit of confusion with Hopper's shackles. The plan was to bend the shackle by hammering it against the railroad rail to elongate it so he could slide it over his foot. That way it would still appear normal. The other prisoner saying he would break his foot introduces the idea into everyone's head, but it was really just a warning that it was likely to happen.
That dinner scene with The Byers and Murray is my favorite comedic scene in all of Stranger Things. Every instance of "schmackin" or Murray not knowing who Argyle is cracks me up so dang hard!
Lucas initially got sucked into the wrong group, but he was still looking out for his friends, at the end he led them to Hopper's cabin as a ruse.
It seems like they missed that Lucas was running from them (a second time). As soon as they mentioned Dustin you could see the wheels turning in Lucas’ head for the best exit strategy. The first episode was him being a hs frosh and wanting a different, “cooler” identity (a reasonable thing to expect of a 14 y.o.), the second episode is when he doubled down and I was actually disappointed in his decision making, this episode was him coming to the realization he eff’ed up (but we all know for most mistakes in life it takes some finesse to but things as close back to normal as possible). Anyway, I say all that to say I think the amount of Lucas-slander has been too much.
How did he double down in the second episode?
Yes, Lucas did pick a lane. He led them to Hopper's cabin. He was simply tagging along with the other group to see things wouldn't go awry
I'm always SO DISAPPOINTED when reactors don't catch on to the long game that Lucas is playing. He was always in the lane with his real friends.
Lucas did chose he led them in the wrong direction to Hoppers old cabin then ditched them.
Jen's great and its cool seeing all her first impressions, but it's really fun when both of them go in blind! My takes tend to align reasonably closely with Holden's a lot of the time so it's nice hearing a bit of a different perspective in their initial reactions
That first growling drawn out“Max” always gives me chills.
Man, the end of this episode, was so damn good. El and the doc, and then finding out Vecna will target Max next. I CANNOT wait for next episodes reaction! Keep up the great work you two!
I mean, i think at the end of the episode lucas did pick a lane. he led them to hopper's cabin on purpose and then ran off leaving them there.
also, next episode is a masterpiece (i assume you've already seen it by now), such a good analogy to overcoming depression.
I'm not sure if y'all caught this, but did you see that Lucas led the Jocks to El and Hopper's cabin in order to distract them. I feel this was Lucas's return to his friends.
The biggest confusion in this season seems to be Hopper deforming the shackle so that he can slide his foot through it. I and everyone else who seems to have watched it interprets it as something like the "dislocate your thumb to get cuffs off" even though he wouldn't be able to walk after.
And then they completely drop that an episode later and don't bring it up again. 😒
The “we can rebuild” quotes killed me everytime😂

Episode 4 and Episode 9 are probably some of my favorite episodes of any show ever. I'm VERY excited to see their reactions to those episodes
I loved the disappointed "Oh Mike" Holden said when El was reading "from Mike" over and over again.
Remember Lucas from the 1st Season/Chapter, he was all about finding Will. He left the group to put himself in possible danger and he did some recon up in the trees outside the Lab. He warned the group that "the bad guys" were coming. In this Chapter, When he saw his team gearing up WITH WEAPONS to find Eddie and the Hell Fire Club, Lucas knew at that point he had to stick with these guys. Maybe even try to find a moment to talk them down. When the jocks were beating on the HFC guys, what was Lucas supposed to do.. He has never been in a fight. Jason was outta his freaking mind with rage. Those 3 guys would have turned on Lucas and beat him like a TRAITOR! Now if those guys were beating on Dustin, Will, and Mike you know Lucas would have jumped in.( When they had armed Government agents in the school trying to take El Lucas Puffed Up his lil chest and told them to " Eat 💩!! " Also people forget that at this point Lucas has no idea what is going on, only what the news has said. And well all know they are wrong. Lucas never saw Chrissy or Fred's body. He doesn't know they have been " Vecna-ed". Lastly, Lucas led them to Hopper's cabin. And then he booked it on outta there.
I judge all reactors by how they react and judge Lucas in this episode.

And his scoffing/eyerolling at Eleven's venting about her feelings as just "middle school girl Facebook posting" feels really weird. Like, Eleven actually HAS been through a lot, she has genuine trauma. That just felt kinda cold and dismissive from Holden.

Thanks for the reaction guys! I noticed that a lot of reactors always seem to miss where Lucas actually brought the jocks in this episode. I thought the show did enough to show to the audience where they actually were. I invite you guys to revisit that scene.
Another thing that really added to the horror element this season was the sound editing. Especially small moments like the turn of a lock, opening a file cabinet drawer or zipping up a backpack, everything was amped up to constantly keep you on edge.
Holden making the pilate joke and then hiding his face was so hilarious 😂
If the Russian guard, that's helping Hopper, looks familiar, the actor's name is Tom Wlaschiha. He played Jaqen H'Ghar, the Faceless man in Braavos that trained Arya, in Game of Thrones.
The similarities between Jen and Joyce are probably why Joyce is my favorite character on the show, even though Max is my favorite in this season. The next episode is one of the best of the whole series imo, stellar acting from someone in the cast lol!
Finally Episode 4 is next!!!!!! Possibly the best last 15 minutes of the whole show up until then. Maybe of the whole show as far as stakes. Can't wait to see your reaction for it.

Murray is such a hilarious character. The first episode of the show he was in, he was so cringeworthy... but grown to where I just love every moment he’s in.
I just love any scene with Steve. He just gives off such a kick-butt vibe. Any scene with him and Dustin is just my favorite. THE BEST BABY SITTER AND MOM IN HAWKINS!!!

That chain breaking scene with HOP was straight up an homage to the film "The Man who broke 1000 chains" with Val Kilmer. Honestly one of his best performances.

The shackles are round, they wouldn't fit over his heel. He had the other prisoner hit them to make them oval shaped so he could slip them over his heel.
If anyone is wondering, song during the big speech is "There is a Storm Coming" by Dance with the Dead. That whole album is amazing.

Wow, I just realized that (and somehow missed on my viewing) that the music they used for the diner scene is a song called "There's a Storm Coming" by Dance with the Dead. It fits the theme of the conversation and events pretty well. Also 80'sesque music.... so there's that.

Sadie Sink absolutely CRUSHED it in this season. Max went from my least favorite character to my most favorite over the course of Season 4. Genuinely can't wait for the next episode!

I think the thing with Hopper's chain was deforming the cuff so his ankle would fit through it (at least slicked with blood).

What Hop wants is to have the other prisoner hit his shackle against the rail in the hopes of turning it from round to oval and making it easier to slide over his ankle. There is of course a chance of injury, perhaps severe like broken bones, but luckily he walked away with contusions and a laceration only.
