Andrea, the thought of you sobbing at midnight over a piece of crochet, is very sad. Don’t bust yourself. We won’t stop watching your terrific program just because you don’t finish a project when you say. I’m sure I speak for us all.
Girl, you are not just a crocheter, you're a crochet master! I am in absolute awe. That blanket is exquisite. You must be so proud of what you have accomplished. And I love your new sweater. Andrew did a fantastic job.
Andrea, what a beautiful crochet blanket you've made!! I started knitting last year after 40+ years of crocheting ... the knitting has been part of my therapy for PTSD and I must say its going quite well, I love it and I love your program.
The interview with Coty was so interesting! I really appreciate the way you give lots of time for your interviewees to talk in detail about what they do, and it's enormously heartening to listen to someone who is taking not only sustainability but also the welfare of both producers and their animals so seriously. Thank you.
I don't even eat cheese, but I must tell you that your makers segments is possibly one of my favorites. I'm so glad because I got to know Wendy and her Burra Bears thanks to you, and now I know of the perfect cheese to get my dad as a present the next time I visit Germany! Thanks
Love your makes! Andrew, no one will notices those decreases. The focus is truly taken by that front panel and Andrea's lovely hair and face wearing a colour that's perfect for her. We've all done that kind of mistake somewhere along the line by the way!
Thanks Carol. I'd rather have made a few mistakes along the way than not have made anything at all. And yes I am very fortunate to have such a beautiful model for my works!
Such good work done by Nomadnoos yarns! That crochet blanket is a masterpiece Andrea 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾. Wow! And the jumper looks lovely, Andrew, you are a great knitter! Thanks for the episode!
Thank you!!
Love that pullover and that blanket. Andrea you are unstoppable.😄 and Andrew you are and inspiration. I taught my husband to knit 2 months ago and he is on fire. He started with a cowl then a hat and is now knitting me a pair of socks. Yay! me. He has been talking about learning to knit since he met you at a EYF last year. Thanks for a great episode.
Spectacular job, Andrea!! I've been crocheting since I was 7 (55+ years), and it pleases me to see knitters picking up the skill! Well done!
Andrew, you should start a T-Shirt line... 'I've got a thing for lace' and 'The world is a better place with a goat tour'. I'd be your first customer!!
This is quite a range of different fiber to learn about, thank you. I also enjoy to heear about the nomads and the goat farm. 😃
The sweater is super beautiful Andrew!!!!🥰
I taught myself to crochet at 21 and I'm 72 now, so it's been lovely for me to learn things and create different items. My BEST THING ever was teaching my mother to crochet and she LOVED IT. Ihave to say..."the blanket is a total WORK OF ART". Congratulations on your skills learned to complete it. WELL DONE.
Well done Andrea! Your blanket turned out spectacularly! That last row story was completely relatable, and I could feel the sense of defeat when realizing the seemingly insurmountable work yet left to do. How much more does the work turn into the treasure it now is; and will be a conversational piece of art on your wall - well done!
Instantly my eyes crinkled with my smile when I saw Andrea wearing your piece of knitted wearable art, Andrew! It has a runway or style magazine quality, with how delicately uniform your stitching was done. The development of your fibre art prowess, from your first hat, two-at-a-time socks, to your first sweater has been a backstory that engages my viewing. Your well deserved kiss of approval from Andrea was well earned! Heheh
It was a treat to see Jack in a cameo 😃
Wonderful episode! Thank you!
Thank you, MrsCarruthers! A few viewers were concerned because of the mention of "leftover" dog food in the last Episode, so we thought it was good to let everyone see that Jack is doing well. (He only eats tinned food when we travel.)
And Andrew, mistakes can be beautiful to! The lace work is exquisite and the pale gold is such a beautiful colour.
Thanks, Bronwen. I'm happy with it. Andrea will enjoy wearing it, which is the main thing, and it's all learning.
Love the behind the scenes information. Love the podcast!
Re: the crochet blanket, I am so glad to know I'm not the only one who has ever cried over a fiber project! :)
The blanket is stunning and the sweater is beautiful!
Your bed(wall)spread looks gorgeous, Andrea!!! You were very brave to take it as a first crochet project! It'll look perfect on you wall! And Andrew, I started using multifocals to knit, crochet and be able to look at my children and watch TV. The only problem is that we get used to them very quickly , and start using them all day long! Congratulations on your knitted pullover! It looks perfect to me.
Fabulous crochet project! Congratulations 100 times over! You deserve to be proud! What an accomplishment! Talk about midnight...I have to finish watching you two tomorrow....
Thanks, Nikki.
I can’t believe how absolutely beautiful your blanket is. Amazing work
Thanks, Meryle.
Andrew, I LOVE your whale shirt in this episode. I'm a huge whale geek and wondered where you got it? Another great episode - thank you!!!
Thank you as always for a wonderful episode!
This time I just have to comment, I am german, now living with my American husband plus kids in Albuquerque and I near fainted when I heard that you are going to Schöllkrippen, where I was born and still have family! When I visit now (of course sadly not this year) I stay in Kahl am Main with mom and which I’m sure you know as well as Seligenstadt, best place to get a load of history plus the best ice cream! Thank you again, now on to actually watching! 🤗❤️👍🏻 xxx Dag (paperdag)
So fun to see the “behind the scenes” I’m so impressed with all that you do! Love your show and all the interesting things I learn with each episode! Thank you!
WOW!!! Your sweater looks Beautiful!! Andrew did an amazing job knitting it. I hope that know how great it fits you.
Excellent, Andrea! Now you know how challenged Andrew has been in learning new knitting techniques :)
Thank you for showing how you build up your livingroom for the interview. No one should doubt that you are doing a great show and spend a lot of time doing it. I enjoy every moment.
Thanks, Charlotte.
Your podcasts are a wealth of information! I am new to knitting podcasts and so excited and thankful to have found yours. I am honored to become a patron of Fruity Knitting. Thank you!
I love both knitting and crocheting - that blanket (or wall hanging) is a very ambitious first project for a first time crocheter. Well done!
Thanks, Wanda.
Another really great episode. Your blanket Andrea is stunning. Well done. The jumper Andrew knitted is so lovely & really suits. I so enjoyed hearing all about the nomadnoos yarns & how it all comes together. Makes it feel real & inspiring!
Thanks, Christine. Glad you enjoyed the show.
What an absolutely amazing and brave project to start learning to crochet on!!! It's stunning.
Quite frankly I can’t imagine you doing a pedestrian crochet project. You are top level with your knitting so you HAVE to do a top level crochet masterpiece. Now that you’ve started at the top, all Crochet is simpler ❤️
Andrea, I can see why you feel so proud, I feel proud of your blanket. It is the most beautiful crochet blanket I have ever seen. What an achievement.
WOW your crochet blanket is gorgeous, great project, looks stunning. Also your new pullover is very pretty, great job Andrew.
Thanks, Roxanne. Now very excited about getting on to our new projects.
Dear Andrea, it's really impressive the amount of work down behind the scenes. Your interviews are always so interesting and it's amazing how many I have learn from you, thanks to this great show. I'm really happy to contribute at my small level to support your work. Congratulations!
You are genius . As a beginner I never thought you'd get there, mainly because Janie never has crochet diagrams/charts to help make sense of the written pattern. I am very visual and struggle with her long written patterns but they are worth it. Brilliant. Jen x
Congratulations on finishing your crochet blanket. As with all your projects it is stunning! I think hanging it on the wall is a perfect solution of what to do with it.Being able to see what you're working on is essential. I've reached the point where for some work I have to remove my glasses completely. Andrew, I love your sweater which looks perfect to me...mistakes are lessons in disguise. . I loved everything about the goats and cheese, especially their tower. Thanks for the backstage/in the wings glimpse. As a former costume designer in theatre, I love all the work in the "black"! A really great interview with Coty! Thanks for a very enjoyable episode. HUgs
Thank you Brenda
Your blanket, Andrea, is absolutely stunning! And as is Andrew's jumper for you! To see the amount of work and the professionalism that goes into creating each interview and episode is just mind boggling! Thank you so much for doing this. I look forward to it every time ♥
What a wonderful podcast. I learnt so much. Thank you thank you 😊
I’m shocked and amazed!!!!!!
Ive been crocheting off and on since 8 yrs old(I’m just 47) and I’d be terrified to comity to that fabulous blanket! So greatly done!! Well done!!!!🥰
Thanx for this lovely episode, so well-made and informative! You both should be proud of all your work, such high quality!
The blanket turned out gorgeous. Andrea you look fab in your new garment mistakes and all. Andrew did a fine job.
Coty has a wonderful approach to the yarn business. Just lovely! The thought of the livelyhood of the spinners is admirable
Those goats are hilarious. That cheese looked good.
Wonderful show!
So lovely! Put that blanket on the wall! It's so beautiful. And I totally understand sitting in front of a pattern and crying. When I started back knitting that was it, but my advice is when you're tired, go to bed and give yourself another day. Unless you have somebody sitting with you or helping. I once finished an embroidery of the tree of life for my Ma at 10:30pm on Christmas Eve because my grandmother was sitting with me finishing up the other side of the treetop. Otherwise, I would have been sitting in the back room sobbing about ruining Christmas for my Ma. :-) You go, girl! Love your show, you guys are fantastic!
One day a very long time from now you are going to be even more proud of that beautiful crochet blanket
Thanks, Salome, and greetings to Victoria!
Lovely work on the blanket! I have been trying to learn crochet after knitting for 50+ years and it is quite frustrating to me! It definitely does not relax me like my knitting, but I will persevere!
What a surprise to hear Andrew suddenly talking about Schöllkrippen...couldn't trust my ears 😀.
I know this village very well. When I was a child I often visited my aunt and uncle who were living there
Great episode, both finished objects are incredible. I can't imagine crocheting anything like that. The pullover looks lovely on you Andrea. Remember the galloping horse test. If you can't see it from the back of a galloping horse, all is good! Thank you!
I have always loved that test, and yes, it is a chance to put it to good use. Thanks, Amy.
I was up at 2.50 am Wednesday and I see a notification that my favourite podcast is on. Yeah how wonderful. Stay Safe and please Stay at Home!
Thank you for the lovely, informative episode. Learned so much and found common ground in “completely reading the pattern one word at a time”. Several years ago I started Danish pattern by Geilsk being drawn to her non-conforming construction and end product. Well the translation leaves much to be desired, but thanks to your inspiration I’ve picked up the 3/4 top and am diving back in with ever so much more clarity having read and re-read the pattern one word at a time. Many thanks that this UFO is on its way to becoming an FO!
Hi Kyle. That sounds great. Hope your persistence pays off, and don't forget that you can at least try to get in touch with the designer if you're really stuck. They learn from feedback and questions too, so I don't think you need to feel bad about that if you've already tried to figure it out yourself. Cheers, A + A.
Your blanket is Beautiful! You did an excellent job crocheting it doesn't look like you just learned how to crochet.
Thanks, Janet. It was a fairly intensive learning experience!
I agree about how fascinating it is to watch how people knit and hold their yarn and needles. I was taught by my mother the same way you were Andrea and have adapted to several new ways as the yrs have passed and my exposure has expanded; one of which has included becoming much faster knitting continental.
10+ yrs ago, I competed in several 'Back to Back' competitions. The competition was started in Australia by farmer Wendy Dennis in 1995 and very quickly encompassed competitors worldwide. The fastest time recorded in 2017 with a time of 4 hrs, 45 minutes & 53 seconds by Team Groenewoud by the Guinness Book of World Records. My friend knit 7-10 sts faster than I did and I was 10 sts faster on the purl row. She knit Danish(her version of continental) vs my English. We exchanged pieces when one of us reached 10 rows of knitting first to keep the tension more even on both pieces. We knit the body pieces because we were the fastest knitters in the group. She used to quote Hazel Tindall's speed as we practiced, which was my first introduction to Hazel and the idea of speed knitting. It was a great experience.
I have since had knitting students that were taught to knit in their countries of origin, who have asked what is the best/right way to knit and I have always said there are no knitting police, so knit the way it is most comfortable for you but always be willing to expand your repertoire in how to hold and perform knitting and purling stitches.
It really is such an interesting topic!
Your blanket is so BEAUTIFUL! Congrats you did a great job! I just had to comment about your blanket right away. Now I need to watch the rest. I always love your videos so when it popped up I had to watch it right away! Btw bifocals are so annoying to begin with but I love mine now. Getting older... what are you going to do? LOL
Funny about the bifocals. Andrea really was annoyed, and then everything was ok. At this point I'd rather keep getting older than not get any older.
I just love your podcast! Love the blanket, new sweater and the behind the scenes tour. I think it’s really cool that your kitchen cabinets are purple. I laughed when Andrew mentioned his 5 year plan. Signed up to become a Patreon and bought some lovely yarn as well. Thanks for another great episode.
Andrea, for your first large crochet project, your blanket is fabulous!
I do hope it won't be your last, trying to make a deadline often takes
the joy out of a project, I find. You're an inspiration🧶
Absolutely fascinating show! Andrea, your first crochet project is gorgeous, I would love to have the time and patience to make it as well. Andrew, your finished sweater is lovely. If there are mistakes in it, I can’t see them...well done. Top notch interviews and again thank you for everything you do.💕
Thanks, Nancy!
Bravo ! I don’t know how to crochet, and I usually don’t like the” crochet look “ of a blanket . That being said , I love your blanket and this is the most beautiful blanket , ( knitted included ) that I have ever seen ! What a marvelous work , you have every reason to be super proud of you ! Lovely Martin Storey sweater ; bravo to Andrew too! bye 👋,
Thank you, Gina. We're both very proud of ourselves too!
Im always so happy when i get a notification! Love you guys!
Andrea, does Mosaic crochet catch your eye? It creates a fabric that’s more dense, and can be used in scarves, hats, purses & totes, pillows, etc. a fantastic name that has recently popped up for me is Tinna Porudottir Porvalder from Iceland...she’s a “hoot”!
She’s all over the net IH, UA-cam, FB
Her designs are amazing!!!
I’ve been crocheting about 3 years and wouldn’t be able to achieve this!!! Well done, how beautiful your blanket is x
Thank you!
I loved this so much, Andrew and Andrea. From that gorgeous mustardy sweater ( mustard/yellow is my new black 😀beautiful Andrew) to that superb crochet blanket ( as that ad in Australia said- you ought to be congratulated!!!) and oh the interview that took us to those primitive countries showing us from sheep to yarn! And finally, the music. Perfectly suited to each segment. I thought I was in a silent movie while you were setting up the lounge room. Loved it!!! So jaunty and apr! And in closing, a piece I LOVE to play, the Well Tempered Klavier!!!! Where’s my piano?? I want to play it now. Brilliant! I’m finally in a position to now become a patron!! I so respect and love what you do. Thank you for yr professionalism, your well researched and intelligent interviews and the rspport you have wth each other. Lu in Brisbane, Australia xxxx
I love Jack in the blanket blocking shot
He's doing a good job.
YOUR BLANKET IS GORGEOUS!! What a marvelous achievement! Could you please give us close ups of the beading & different stitches?
The blanket is a masterpiece Andrea and the sweater is beautiful on you. Andrew I get you completely! A bit of experience and we begin to think we “know it all”! I’ve done the same thing so many times - read a bit, think 💭 oh yeah I know what they mean. I’ve also been convinced there’s an error in the pattern TIL I checked on Ravelry and had to accept that no one who knitted the design indicated any difficulty with the design! The old phenomenon of seeing what you are thinking! Thank you as always for your podcast! I’m so proud to be a Pateron and support all your hard work. Take Care! Roxanne.
Thank you for supporting the show as a Patron, Roxanne, and for your kind words. I can live with the mistakes - hopefully live and learn!
Oh my Stars - another Fun & informative episode!! Thank you so very much for brightening my day. Big Congratulations Andrea on completing Bohemian Blooms. It's Beautiful, & good for you to stick it out. Andrew, "your" Celestial sweater is also Beautiful. Great job you. Never mind the decrease bit. It's still stunning & looks great on Andrea. Thank you for the goats; behind the scenes; Nomadnoos; & continuing to produce such a high quality show!!
Thanks, Michele. The Celestial top is beautiful, Andrea looks lovely in it, of course!
Congratulations on finishing your spectacular crochet heirloom!
Thanks, Reba!
Another enjoyable podcast! Great knitting and crochet, the sweater and blanket are so beautiful! Thank you for the cheese making clip, it’s really interesting to see anything being made by hand. Well, best wishes to you both, your home is very sweet, look how much joy you bring to us, in your humble home. Take care and stay well. 🌻
Thank you, Dawn.
Andrew, the sweater you made Andra is beautiful mistakes and all and truthfully, no one will ever notice it unless you point it out. So don't point it out! The lace is beautiful and that's what people will notice. Great job!
Andrea, I do know how to crochet, but that blanket is absolutely gorgeous, especially for a newbie like you were. Not to mention the challenge of working so many different parts of it to put together. It's beautiful and you did great!
Thanks, Cyndy. You're right, the top is beautiful and Andrea is enjoying wearing it. Just something to remember for future projects!!
I meant to mention this but forgot.... What I wanted to say was about the beautiful music you use on your films and it made me think of this piece that my grandson Lucas introduced to me as it was part of his school work...... Music and art combined. Smetana. The Moldau. Maybe you will put it into one of your river scenes. Love from Belfast and our river , the Lagan.
Hi Christine. That is a stunning piece of music. You'll have to go all the way back to Episode 102, our special river Episode, to find it! Our greetings to the Lagan. A + A.
This afghan is STUNNING!
Truly.
I can only dream of knitting like Andrew, lovely yellow jumper!
What an interesting video! I think you did an amazing job crocheting and it would look good pinned up on that glass door instead of a blanket as a permanent fixture.
Thanks, Elise. We hadn't thought of that about the door - will definitely consider it!
The crochet blanket is quite an accomplishment...beautiful.
Andrea, your blanket is stunning! You’re amazing, thanks for sharing this!
Thanks, Claire. We are still figuring out where it will go on display, but it is perfect coloring for our lounge room.
What a beautiful blanket. You did such a great job. Love seeing how you do your video. Your videos bring such happiness to me in a very sad time. We are elderly ( married 60 years on the 1st of July) and my husband is now very ill, so your shows lift my spirits. Thank you so much.
Penny, it is so lovely to hear that we are "lifting your spirits" - such a wonderful way to put it! And (for next week), congratulations on your 60 years. That is a great achievement. Thank you for watching and for leaving your comment. A + A.
Great great episode! Loved every single item of it! Thank you for your great podcast! I’m proud to be a patron 😊
Thank you for your support, Els! Patrons make it possible.
I must tell you eye excise on you tube its great, that has help many, reading patterns i say read them a few times and take your time your knitting is always great i love to see men knitters. love your video love sent to you all.
Thanks, Pamela. I can assure you I will be reading this next pattern very carefully. It is significantly more complex than the last project. Thanks for watching, Andrew.
It’s gorgeous, a lot of work but it’s worth it, beautiful sweater also
Bravo on the blanket. A work of art. And if you make it a wall hanging, form and function!!!
As always, this was such a great episode! First, I have to give a HUGE congratulations to Andrea on that absolutely stunning heirloom blanket. Your work is gorgeous! Also, the Martin Storey pullover is absolutely beautiful. I was imagining that it was going to be gorgeous and the perfect color for Andrea. Nice to know I was right. LOL! Many thanks for always providing the wonderful and inspiring content.
What a wonderful show! I was very impressed with the over all quality of the show from the “set” to your guests. All so interesting. Well done!
Thanks, Frances.
Beautiful sweater Andrew!! And stunning blanket Andrea! Loved this show!
Thank you, Lynette. Onto the next one now!!
Congrats on your blanket Andrea! Lovely! You are giving me an itch to give it a try...
Your podcast is all around fascinating! Beautiful blanket and sweater. Such amazing talent. Love your episodes.
Thanks, Micki.
Andrew you are the most amazing husband - you knit! My husband still can't get his head around the concept of knitting podcast. "Why? What's the meaning of this?" is what he said. Bless your heart.
I love "What is the meaning of this?" Reminds me of my teachers getting upset at school (-; I find that the more you know about something, the more interesting it becomes.
Your finished projects are both beautiful. Congratulations. It is always quite nice to have that feeling of accomplishment. Thank you for showing Jack--I have been wondering about him. I was hoping he was still around and healthy. Thank you for your program.
Thanks, Kathy. Jacky is doing just fine, we're just about to go for his evening walk.
Thanks for this welcome relief! Knitting everyday under self-imposed quarantine had me a little bored today. Seeing all that yummy goat cheese caused me to dig out the little bit that I'd been hoarding in the back of my fridge. It lifted me right out of my doldrums to taste it, and to see those darling goats frolicking.
The goats were great, weren't they? Glad you had some stocks on hand!
Heard this on the radio just tother day. It was an elderly bloke that was having a hard time keeping his goats in their proper place - “Trouble with the goats is that they have goat thoughts.”
Andrea , your crochet blanket is amazing. It looks like you have been crocheting for years. Andrew did a wonderful job on that sweater (jumper). I finished my stay in place project...Find Your Fade in May . I started on March 12, 2020. Despite the concerns of the world, we managed to complete amazing works!
I am so impressed by the crochet! I have tried and tried and tried but just can't seem to get it understood. You've done a beautiful job and are rightly proud of yourself. Andrew did a marvelous job on your jumper as well.
Thanks, Patti. There's sure to be someone who would enjoy helping you with your crochet if you really want to learn. Just might have to wait until after the lockdown now...
What a lovely episode! Thank you so much!
Great episode. Love both of your projects. 🌺
This was such an exciting informative varied podcast, incredibly more so than usual. I am grateful to each of you for your honesty in sharing your process and of course products. Carry on!
You always look so beautiful!! The sweaters are so stunning!!❤️❤️
How are you guys so sweet?!?!
And where have you been hiding on UA-cam from me for ten yrs??!? Lol well I’ve been here but I’m not certain how long you guys have been but I’m only a few episodes in and I adore everything about yous and your engaging personalities and these videos are priceless!!🥰
It’s a beautiful beautiful blanket wonderful piece of art, most spectacular It will look beautiful on the wall congratulations
Hi there, Thanks for your wonderful presentation, content, music, humor, and camaraderie! In the interview with Coty there were a few shots of a clothes rack to the side of her. Hanging on that rack was a sweater with vivid yellow neck, sleeve band and hem band. The main color looked to be maybe a camel color. It also looked to have stranded color work and lace work in the vivid yellow. What is the name of that sweater pattern? I hope you can investigate and find the answer.
Thanks again for your hard work. You two are the best!
The pattern is Un Bic by Valentina Cosciani.
Great episode, loved the interview and congratulations to both of you for your finished Projects.
Thanks, Jenny.
Great job as usual Andrea 😍👍
Such a lovely show to watch as I work on improving my tension when stranded knitting. Looking forward to seeing your projects. I would like to knit a Jennifer Beale pattern one day. I will enjoy listening to Andrew’s comments as he works on his new project. I have been humming and hawing over that particular pattern for awhile. Glad to see Jack again. I didn’t see him on the walk in the last addition and then when Andrea did exercises with his extra food I was quite concerned about him.
