If you close your eyes and listen, it sounds like Tom Brady talking about fishing. You'll never un-hear it

Fished this same river about a week and a half ago. Everyone was nymphing and catching fish while I was swinging Wet flies and streamers and getting skunked. Going to focus on nymphing next year in early and late season.

It's frustrating being new and prospecting for productive spots. Turns out I was here twice this summer, in May and August, and I had no luck. One tree in the vid gave it away. The August visit I knew was too warm but also, it was raging and flooded. But, now I know where to start. Really, I want to blue line in the region for very small trout but information is not available.

Brookies are good eating. While caribou hunting in northern Quebec, we caught hundreds of Labrador brook trout, and were surprised to see they were pink meat, instead of the off white color we usually see. I was born and raised in Vermont, and have lived here in southwest Indiana since 1966, I miss my trout fishing, I’d have to drive about an hour and a half to fish for rainbow trout here in Indiana.

Hey Jesse, I'm curious as to what your take is on handling catch and release trout, especially Brook and Rainbows. I thought that it was universally accepted to avoid picking up any Salmoninae by the jaw or gill plate, but it was also drilled into me for years to never handle a trout with dry hands, and minimize handling them in general to limit inflicting damage to their protective mucus layer, as any spots with thinned / removed mucus layer will likely result in a fungal infection which can kill the fish. So, for me, it's always been fine net if possible, or gentle wet hands under belly and tail if necessary. Is this all still best practice?
I've seen anglers picking up trout by the jaw like a largemouth, and I often seeing people picking up salmon by the gill plate even before they know whether t's a legal keeper size. Not that I have any issue with the methods I've been using my entire life, I'm curious if most of the anglers you know also do the same.

I cringe everytime "most" of theese youtubers handle trout, wet your hands! Or just get a pair of hemos and don't touch them at all!
