Wow! What a beautiful original example of a Holden bodied 'O' Series Bedford! It's definitely a 1951 or 1952 model though, not a 1946. The way you can tell... Centre strip in the middle of the grille is painted black whereas pre '51 was chrome, Battery is accessed via screw-fixed panel below passenger door whereas pre '51 was accessed via floor under passenger seat, Gearbox is synchromesh whereas as pre '51 had 'crash' box, Headlamp glasses have flatter convex whereas pre' 51 has a more prominent convex. A very tidy and original example though and great to see that it still has its original Holden built table top as well! You see so many of these restored (and often incorrectly) but nothing beats originality. Well done! Shame about the custom number plates not matching the vehicle though ☹️
When I was a child we used to walk down a public footpath that led from Dunstable park to Houghton Regis . On the right hand side was a storage site with a 6 ft high chainlink fence and behind it was row upon row of brand new Bedford lorries . Every so often the fence had a huge gap and there would be an empty space or two where the lorries had been stolen . That was around '67 or 68 . Passenger coaches were all then based around lorry chassis and in order to deliver them they were driven as a bare chassis in all weathers. Just a seat and steering wheel with temporary lights attached. In the winter the drivers would wear ex WW 2 army dispatch riders coats and flying goggles.
You just made a painting project a whole lot easier. Thanks especially for the slow pans of the interior and the rust.

That bedford looks like my 1947 austin 2 ton truck
What a ripper. Sounds great for its age. My '61 J6 doesn't sound any better. At least they're running, I suppose.
