      Standard says 1in, +/- 0.1in

    I appreciate the videos a lot but there was no planeness check using a 0.002in. feeler. This is my main concern and where i feel i needed a walkthrough.

      Planeness check is not required on the cylinder if you are capping with unbonded retainers. Note that the retainers do need to be periodically checked to meet the 0.002" planeness but not on every test. Capping with sulfur/gypsum/neat cement has a different procedure which you can see in our video for that test method. Look up our ASTM C617 video and you can see how we check the capped ends with the feeler gauge for that test.
