You right it was not the best vocal performance. But his voice sounds a lot better in more recent performances I have see. Maybe that is one of the reasons he took the 5 year break??? Can't wait to see them in Dallas this Aug!!!
hmm, could have a point there. took some time out to let his voice recover maybe. i just remember reading somewhere that the reason they don't often play this song live, is down to his voice having gotten deeper with age. you're lucky, they hardly ever come to the UK… and when they do, they sell out in seconds.
The energy in a NIN show is just unbelievable. It's not even because of his presence on stage or anything like that. It's just the mix between both the music and the craziness that it causes to all of US !!!
From pretty much the most metal album. Trent later said he was debating whether he would add Electronics to any of the songs except for happiness in slavery. Just make it mostly guitar/bass/drums.
I don't see why the vocals for "Last" are any more difficult than others in the catalog. It's a simple set of challenge /response set of lyrics and the vocals should reflect that. Face it, Trent is getting old and instead of singing vocals he is bellowing into the mic. It had to happen sometime, fuck, his face is redder than . . . something red.
as a pretty great vocalist in her physical prime, this song is fucking INTENSELY difficult to get through. The whole time attempting it I just found the repeating thought "how the fuck would he do this live". those close to five minutes are some of the hardest to produce in a consistent level.
@@Junkwave_ They're more difficult if you're trying to match the studio version. He's screaming almost the entire song at a rather high octave and the notes stay pretty high for most of the verses. The verses also start at rather high notes and there's nothing really to ease you up to those notes, so you just gotta belt it way up there. It's definitely difficult, but Trent is doing a lot to make it easier by not trying to match the studio version here, which is also why it's in a lower key when he plays it live.
Robin's vocals are amazing at the end! I guess after years of NIN boot camp and touring as well as his little bout with G'n'R, that dude has some serious vocal chops. As well as guitar, synth and style points... I see why Trent wanted him back.
one of my favorites from Trent! will always be thankful for his music, as it provides an alternative to stereotypical reactions to all the bullshit that exists in this world.
God, I Miss n Love NIN ..the Original NIN ..Never thought those days would End, if we could just do it again ..Great 🌹 Prime years of Our Lives .Love to NIN
This performance is sheer aggression and katharsis in action. Reznor’s entire dedication of his energy to the performance, which he always brings, is here so well supported by the energy of the crowd and the rest of the band. Anytime I’m feeling confused and angry, I put this on, and by the end my heart feels understood.
NIN was my all time fav when I was in my 20's. I thought Trent had moved on to other things, till I saw his interview on Dig. Freakin awesome to come back to my roots and find new shoots on old branches. Shows how far I strayed. Rock on!
Those synth tones have to be some of the phattest in history. Keeps a brilliantly arrpeggiated groove underneath the balls simple drums and metallic guitars. Almost twenty years old this song, STILL heavy. wtf.
@Batmanshack Mate, the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel is ALL seats so unfortunately, there isn't much to do but stand there and enjoy. I saw NIN there with Bauhaus and it was one of the best shows of my life.
You 're daily doze of 1,000MG of NIN has been prescribed by musician Trent Reznor. You will begin your dose with five minutes of head banging therapy and sonic communication vibrations.
I just saw them in on 22 March in Christchurch, New Zealand. It was so good to yell along with Trent, very cathartic. They didn't play this live so I came for my fix.
@Awayze that was like in 2006 during the Beside You In Time tour. Usually the bass player is the dude on the right side of the stage wearing red (Justin Meldal-Johnsen), but for some songs he picks up a guitar instead.
+TimmyPool Justin Meldal-Johnsen Apparently also he did some production work on The Black Queen's album too. I'm sure he's done lots of stuff but that's what matters to me.
+TimmyPool Justin Meldal-Johnsen Apparently also he did some production work on The Black Queen's album too. I'm sure he's done lots of stuff but that's what matters to me.
@peoplethought : I don't think he's ruining the songs by shouting out “come on!” and “hey!” at certain points. He's just trying to interact with the audience. That's pretty much what he's trying to do. Audience interaction never hurts. Especially when you're performing in front of a crowd like that.
One caveat, Robin Finck makes this song truly awesome, both historically because he was the guitarist from Woodstock '94 and he is a beast, one of my top 3 fav guitarists. Robin is the shit and the sound that makes this song great, trust me, his Marshall JCM800 is the one mic'ed and not the bloke with the white Gibson. Robin IS the music of NIN people.
Random but ever hear the remix to outro of this on the "Fixed" album? Like 3 minutes of slow instrumentals and then it just blasts into the outro of Last "i want you to make me!..." So Awesome.
His most underrated song by a million light years
Nah that is definitely The Becoming. That’s easily his best song.
So much better live.
Thanks 👍😘🇸🇪
I covered this with my band in college, loved singing this. Its absolutely an outstanding track, with a great denouement.
Especially live, it's so much better live. As is Wish and several others. They just bring such a good vibe to them.
I can't believe he finally sang this live, I envy every member of the audience.
I saw him on the 2007 tour and he played it 2nd after 'beginning of the end'! Wasn't expecting it thats for sure!!
Heheh I will never forget it, that's for sure.
First time they played this live was in Lisbon (10/02/2007). I was there and it was my first concert.
i feel the same for years, that performance is fire
SAME!
I sang this at a karaoke once.
Wasn't able to sing anything for the rest of the session.
Damn hard song to sing.
That's so awesome!!
My favorite track off broken, they never play this live!!!
he can't reach the notes anymore… even struggling here in a lower key.
shame really as it's a great song.
You right it was not the best vocal performance. But his voice sounds a lot better in more recent performances I have see. Maybe that is one of the reasons he took the 5 year break??? Can't wait to see them in Dallas this Aug!!!

you're lucky, they hardly ever come to the UK… and when they do, they sell out in seconds.
Heard it in 08 in Chicago. Wave goodbye tour. I was front row and pretty smashed. Best concert of my life!
WHR17 If you look really closely you will see that they are playing it live here! They often play Last live.
the way trent walks up to the mic right before the lyrics come in is so badass. He also has a fantastic backing band.
HOW THE FUCK IS THE AUDIENCE SO CALM??? If Trent was so close to me I'd probably have a seizure
+dolan dak much dissapoint
+dolan dak yeah dude. i get that some of their earlier fans might be in their 40s or 50s, but take your fucking arthritis medication and MOVE
This venue has seats. You can't mosh.
kskill. well you can't mosh anyway in a NIN concert. or you can but it'd look a bit retarded
+kskill. Fuckin' great stage band!!!!
That badass stroll to the mic at 0:14! Trent you hardass!
PJ S not to mention the one at 3:56 so confident, so hot :o
The energy in a NIN show is just unbelievable. It's not even because of his presence on stage or anything like that. It's just the mix between both the music and the craziness that it causes to all of US !!!
I think I like this more than the album version omg this is amazing.
Its good, but imho it doesnt hold a candle to the original. last and gave up are my favorites off broken.
He can't quite replicate those younger Trent vocals from the album, which I liked very much.
Same. This is good. Like really good. They need to release a "live" hits album or something. And this should be prominently featured.
I think it's in a lower key
Yes it’s amazing
0:48 oh that guitar solo, it´s soo freaking good
Lol I thought u talk about Trent's thicc features, my bad
It made me grab my guitar and play it immediately!! It sounds sooooo sexy!!!!
A tribute to Queen's 'Fight from the Inside'
@@johncameron7247holy shit.... I never fucking noticed I love both of these songs.
the most metal song from NIN ;
Antony Stark checkout “burn”
From pretty much the most metal album. Trent later said he was debating whether he would add Electronics to any of the songs except for happiness in slavery. Just make it mostly guitar/bass/drums.
mainliner181 hoping to get something similar from him before he decides to call it quits
My head got lost along the way....cuz I'm a headbanger. At least it's lost to Trents magnificent music!!!
probably Somewhat Damaged is the most
I cannot believe this was not played live until 2007. This is my wake up song lmao
lol, trent's face color is equal to his pants
he always gives 110%
Equal to the album cover
That is hilarious and true
haha, i don't think some of the commenters realize just how difficult this song is to sing! might be one of the hardest in the entire NIN catologue!
I don't see why the vocals for "Last" are any more difficult than others in the catalog. It's a simple set of challenge /response set of lyrics and the vocals should reflect that. Shut up you are not worthy of NIN
What makes them difficult in your opinion?
@@Junkwave_ They're more difficult if you're trying to match the studio version. He's screaming almost the entire song at a rather high octave and the notes stay pretty high for most of the verses. “Dressed up this rotten carcass just to make it look alive”.. love that line..
Wish they played this one live more often! Such an underrated song.
I like how the background literally goes from day to night during this song
Love this single camera, one shot vid. Inspires aspiring filmographers such as myself. A lot can be done with one person, one camera, one angle.
thank you Trent, for allowing me to sing your songs a few keys lower than written ;)
I've seen NIN live 4 times and i have yet to see them play last which is one of my favorites! that crowd doesn't know how lucky they are!
Shit man Finck has such a cool voice. lol
Lololololololol
fuck yes
Showing off for his home state
That part between the end of first chorus and the start of the second verse is one of my favourite guitar parts ever.
No words! Pure energy. NIN at its best! Love it!
One of Trent's best songs! That hard riff guitar progression is amazing!
Was at this show. We about died when he played this song!
Oh my god. I’m so jealous.
His most underrated song without question
Still to date the best NIN video out there. So much raw power right there!
one of my favorites from Trent! will always be thankful for his music, as it provides an alternative to stereotypical reactions to all the bullshit that exists in this world.
So badass. Love this song.
Just more underrated Relevantmusic & theme of the times....... So many if not All-of his songs
Surreal experience.
I love these on stage videos, the energy is something else
God, I Miss n Love NIN ..the Original NIN ..Never thought those days would End, if we could just do it again ..Great 🌹 Prime years of Our Lives .Love to NIN
Sounds frickin great live
Yes!! My favorite NIN song
Brilliant song and I love this live version!
Awesome song from back in the day!!! Can't even fathom how many times I listened to this EP back in the day.
This song is fkn sick 🤟🤟🤟
The fucken POWER in this performance is a sight to fucken behold
That fuckin guitar solo after the first verse. Fuckin epic!!!

I love their sound live 💚
Best NIN EVER

Absolutely Amazing Performance 👊🏻👊🏻
4:17 I actually think Robin has a good voice, it would be interesting to see what he could do in his own band!
What do you think about his performance of Shit Mirror?
Broken and The Downward Spiral .... artistry at its best.
Those synth tones have to be some of the phattest in history. Keeps a brilliantly arrpeggiated groove underneath the balls simple drums and metallic guitars. Almost twenty years old this song, STILL heavy. wtf.

And dressing up a rotten carass to make it look alive.
This song is great
Tuned down with years but still awesome.
Goddamn yes! So much energy and intensity on the stage.
I just saw them in on 22 March in Christchurch, New Zealand.

They didn't play this live so I came for my fix.
I can't quit watching this
I can't wait to see them live this year!
This song bites so very hard x_ x
Such a simple guitar solo, yet so badass. Sometimes less is more, when it's perfectly used.

This is why I love Nine Inch Nails so much! ❤️
this song is heavy . love the riff .
Love it as always
top notch footage
I miss NIN at Holmdel. Saw so many great shows there. He always says he loves playing here.
Robin and Afro Man's Co-Vocals kick ass, in every NIN song, but man, the Co-Vocals on this are metal as FUCK
TimmyPool afro man hahahahaha
Old West Demons I can't ever remember his name xD
TimmyPool me neither lol
+TimmyPool Justin Meldal-Johnsen Apparently also he did some production work on The Black Queen's album too. I'm sure he's done lots of stuff but that's what matters to me.
