- NEW Disney MagicBand+ BRUTALLY HONEST REVIEW. We unboxed and received the new Walt Disney World Magic Band +.We also saw new Disney merchandise items at Disney Springs. We also watched the new nighttime firework show at EPCOT.

I just want to say thank you for your brutally honest review considering some Disney youtubers/influencers can come across as "Disney Shills". So much appreciated.
Also even though I haven't used them at least the Harry Potter Interactive Wands at Universal don't need to be charged and supposedly work right away (without any issues). Plus I think they look cooler too.
But yeah if I had to choose between Disney "Magicbands" or Universal's "Interactive Wands". I'd personally go with the wands.

It's amazing how different the park experience is even in the like 5-6 years since I was there last. I was already a little disappointed with how often we had to bury our face in our phones to get Fast Passes but the rest of the experience was mostly okay.
All the things you have to do now just make it seem like a stressful headache and not a relaxing trip. :(
I used mine at Epcot and it worked every time , just wave close to the statues after you feel the vibration. I bought the same orange bird band! I totally agree though about it being one more stressor to add to Disney ! Hate genie +, reservations etc etc.
When I saw it launch, I thought it was fu*kin stupid. I do like the design of the overall band… but to make this even worthwhile, Disney needed to invest in at least ten+ experiences throughout the theme parks (like they did at SWGE).
The statues are temporary so they won’t even be a feature in the next few months (they don’t count IMO) and who will be watching their wrist when watching a show? (This is a fad. Remember “Glow with the Show” for WOC? That lasted for like three months.) Sound like another gimmicky money grab.

To be fair, I am giving it the benefit of the doubt considering it was the first day. I REALLY enjoyed the Bounty Hunter game they have in Galaxy’s Edge. Granted, we were promised that three years ago when it opened. Lol

For a while Disney has been finding ways to boost sales on Battery charger with Disney play, Data Pad and now this. It’s more novelty than adding magic. They should have had the statues move instead of a sound.

I think Universal got it with their bands at Volcano Bay. Those actually work.
That trash can used to freak me out as a kid but electric umbrella had the best fried chicken on property in the late 90s so I kept going lol

I really liked your video and honesty. Yeah the magic band + sounds like it's going to be frustrating. People don't want to go to the happiest place on earth for frustration. More money for Disney's pockets and the new CEO sucks. You made me lol when you got out your car and mentioned the couple getting in on in thier car 🤣
MB+ is a fad, especially if someone is not shelling out the extra money for Genie (that used to be a free fast pass).
TIP: an Apple Watch can be used as a MB. You just don't get all the fancy talking statue stuff or be a bounty hunter

I miss "Glow with the Show". I still have my ears. I think they need to revisit that idea now that tech has caught up, and they can make the ears way less heavy and maybe expensive. I feel like they're trying to recapture that idea with that band changing colors, but, it falls short.

Awhile back I watched an Ordinary Adventures video where Kitra and Peter spent some time at Disney's Hawaiian resort. I didn't think that resort was perfect but, Kitra and Peter played a game where they walked around the resort and little magical things would happen - fairy lights would turn on, sprinklers would sprinkle, little noises, etc. I thought it was adorable and good fun. I'm shocked the magic bands don't do the same things and provide the little hints of magic that they seemed to have done pretty successfully at that resort. What a shame.
Edit to add: the game at the resort was with an iPad type device, but the concept was similar. I don't see why they can't do the same things with a band? Disney can be waaaay more creative than what they've done with the magic bands.

I always wanted to take my kids to Disney. They are at the perfect age. But not being from the USA the costs will never make it possible. Watching your videos and hearing about Disneys modern practices also cured me from going. Keep up the good work, love your content.
Disney world is absolutely amazing. He’s giving an alternative view. But there’s a reason he spends a lot of time and money there. There’s no holiday destination that even comes close.
If there was no pandemic I’d say go. But alas we are in this dystopian Disney hell. I looked at moderate level resorts and they’re all at minimum $100 more for the hotel alone than when I went in 2019. Meanwhile Universal Studios value resorts are under $100 per night
2005 was a good year to go to Disney World. I’m so great-full actually. It was truly magical. A Disney vacation now is pure madness
Dude I loved Glow with the Show. This magic band definitely feels like that’s what they’re ~trying~ to achieve with a dash more capitalism.
I have a feeling that Harmonious and Enchantment aren’t going to last very long after the 50th is over
we love harmonius. the music is beautiful and it's so nice to have the fireworks actually synced to the music (something enchantment totally fails at doing). That said, they should move those barges out of the way during the day. They are UGLY!
I got one of these on Friday and spent the day at Magic Kingdom. It was worthless until they updated it. And then the fireworks interaction was lame. Partners was no where in sight on magic kingdom.
THIS is what I want to see, brutally honest criticism instead of overly enthusiastic positives about new things. Disney enthusiasts should really know that it’s okay to be negative.

I’m already looking at phone all day and I’ve expected that but I’m not going to start playing with a magic band plus while trying to do everything there is to do in the parks.
I actually thought that Harmonious is pretty amazing. As a musician I really appreciated the arrangements.
I love how the magic band store looks as aggressive as the wand store in Harry Potter world at universal 😂😂 hahahahaha
Just another way to be distracted in the parks, I'd rather actually watch the shows and be fully present.

I like the look. Especially that orange bird one. But I'd not expect them to work. How embarrassing that the company that invented most incredible technology for themed entertainment can't activate a song from an rfid chip

Disney will have to keep the gravy train going by installing thousands of recharging stations for the MagicBand. Since practically everything in life has software, I'm glad I don't have to open the hood of the car and pound on the engine with my fist to start it, like you endlessly tapping on the MagicBand to get it to work.
You can turn off the vibration and increase the range with your phone but it's ultimately only worth one person in a party having it If any
I love Harmonious! Its better then the show which replaced Happily Ever After at MK. I really didn't like that show at all. Happily Ever After was much better then its replacement. To me.

❤️❤️❤️ strangely happy that the talking trash can is back - sorry about the magicband+ - it’s as lame as I expected it to be. It was obvious that all they would do is make a small noise I had glow with the show ears back in the day and they were heavy and uncomfortable Yes, harmonious is great. IF a you’re in the front of the crowd and IF you’re on one of those two sides but it does run some of the projections after is ends which is cool, the music is nice so it’s a good show for the few hundred people who get to see all of it every night - big miss - they should move the barges for AK and run a night projection show using them there and let the lagoon look pretty again LOL I agree who would look at their magicband when they could be watching fireworks
I think you are right it is a cheap gimmick and just another way for Disney to try to suck some more money out of you.

You can turn off vibration in settings. It best be used in Star Wars land.
I saw it in the UK area, near Rose and Crown and the view was excellent.
Went in 2018. Loved it so much we rebooked for 2019: loved it so much we rebooked (worldwide thing occured), finally got back in 2022: HATED IT!!!!!!!!
It’s a completely different (worse) experience these days.
I suspect more is coming with MB+ but we shall see… i bet the pirate game in MK will shift to MB+ eventually. And they will roll more things out. I bought MB+ on launch day for our trip in 13 days. With the preorder price, it was a bit more palatable. Agree at least based on what I’ve seen so far, the interactions seem meh. But we will check then out in person. I actually loved harmonious btw. I’ve only seen it once and i was pleasantly surprised. I don’t really care much about the interactions during the fireworks show but we shall see
Harmonious is meh. I watched it from the same spot you did, right between the big shops. But I was eating a crepe from the crepe place in the French pavilion which we got to go. That crepe? 5 stars. The moral of the story is eat during Harmonious instead of watching the show lol. Also I'm not really excited about MB+. Unless you spend hours in Batuu playing that game, and always stay for the fireworks... I just don't see the value. Love your videos, dude! Keep up the good work!

Also…do you remember My Pal Mickey or was that before your time? Cause he was awesome! Probably the first tech thing they came out with. So I do have one still and I have my glow with the show ears. Which I like just walking around at night but they’re not very comfortable. I ordered the Orange Bird Magicband+ and the Toy Story one for my bf/partner for his first trip to WDW. (We’re both in our 50’s lol)
Anyway there were supposed to do other My Pals…but they never did. I wonder if I brought him if any of the tech is still in the parks? 🤔
That would be a fun video to make bringing him in and seeing if he still works

Doubtful,sounds like you pay $35-45 for a chance to get exercise on vacation. If I’m going to wave to anyone on vacation I want it to be my server to bring me another milkshake!
it would almost seem like Disney is doing to try the iPhone thing and upgrading to a new version every year, and making you buy something new instead of updating the current version...gonna get costly.

I would save the $35+ and just carry the park pass. And why is it so important to get a bronze statue to do something, that is going to get old real quick. Maybe have a talking version to tell you when a ride is ready instead of the RGB lights glowing. Maybe tell me the time at least...or GPS pointer display to point you to the ride if you don't know WDW well...etc.

We got our son ( 12 ) one for September. My wife and I just purchased the standard kind. I think the MB+ is for kids.

Disney’s whole system is obnoxious and annoying! (This is my opinion I am not trying to sway anybody) when you go to Disney you’re on vacation, and your supposed to enjoy and unwind and appreciate your downtime on vacation. Disney just makeup new ways for us to waste more money, and something that’s more valuable our vacation time playing with our phones/ batteries/ back up batteries. What a total waste! Harmonious, I feel like they could have came up with a better name. As far as the show, I think the majority will enjoy it, including me. You know how it is, if we can "Oh & Ah" over the fireworks, we be happy. :) And as far as the magic Band, that would be a big ol' no for me.

I get what you're saying.... But please DO seem to enjoy the Bounty Hunter game. I bought a magic band +, partly because my other band is about 8 years old.... I think I'm going to recommend my wife get the magic band 2, rather than the plus.... We haven't tried mine yet; we're going down (From NC) in October.
