I used to own one and they're amazing for the price. I decided to go with a simpler setup, but if you like variety and having eighteen amps at your disposal with lots of trimmings, the Amp Academy is hard to beat.
Some great tones in that. Would love to see a video on use of the accompanying app and what other models are available . What does the Scene footswitch and toggle do?
@@stevendavidson391 you basically get 3 different pairs of presets, so you could have any combination of the 3 cleans and 3 dirty amps with any kind of parameter changes. Switchable through the toggle or for switchable, but the second footswitch also lets you access secret adjustments too like the reverb 👍
@BudgetPedalChap ah ok. It's one of those pedals that is so tweakable you need to spend time getting it set up for your particular needs. I do like the NU>X stuff...on this series they seem well thought out in terms of user interface
I love this pedal and my main gigging pedal as well for some recording. But never satisfied with default IR so I come up with my own. DR.Z and Vox amp sims are particularly well but you can't go up for half the gain it became too saturated. I hope Nux comes upnwith new firmware.
@@BudgetPedalChap One needs to upgrade the firmware and PC software to get the best sounds and use. Straight out of the box will be an immediate fail and unfair evaluation.
@d8rkn3ss2112 if it is how it ships, it is how most customers will experience it first. It's worth documenting that, even if only to serve as a reminder to update the firmware. Wait for the video to drop first, I'll take the comments then 👍
That is an awesome pedal especially for the money. Maybe a bit too much choice for me 🤔 I like MB TR and Iridium type sounds, it's my go to tbh✌️😲😀 Loved the riffage too, Im so out of practice I cant do the galloping technique these days, but you've nailed it mate👍😊
@@musoseven8218 I feel I've only just scratched the surface with this one.. I'm looking forward to hooking it up to the computer and playing with the secret options. Bless you gent, I used to be able to properly gallop and do a bit of the ol' metal playing but I've very much relaxed into the slower dad blues these days 😂 nice to know I've still got it though 👍
@@BudgetPedalChap Yep the app will probably send that pedal stratospheric, it's a remarkable piece of kit. Yes I used to be able to gallop along too (although always took a lot of concentration). Yh you've still got it👍✌️😊😀💜💜
Yes but it is more functional and its not that much more. Like what? 10 bucks? I hope IK comes out with a Tone X II in this format it would be the ulitmate plug in. I have my TX-1 combineed with the MG-30 its a pretty awesome set up. I have the Chocolate plus on the way to control both and once I figure that out Im getting the new MG300MkII
Yeah, essentially. Functionality wise, it sits somewhere between the Tonex one and the big Tonex as you can have banks of presets rather than just the one. It's got XLR out as well and a lot of the parameters can be accessed without hooking it up to the computer, which you kind of have to do with the one. The IK modelling is better, no doubt, but this one is more suitable for a gigging application.
@@BudgetPedalChap If you have an IR-2 I would love to see a comparison. I have one and Iove that thing. That pedal is the most real sounding and feeling modeller Ive ever used.
@@ultimatescalerc7151 I've not unfortunately, I could make a comparison between some of the models in this and the Tonex models. They are pretty realistic too 👍

I'll definitely be checking it out with some of my own IRs, thanks for the tip 👍
yesterday I was thinking about buying this unit, because they updated the ampsims and added 5150 😂
@@yami_garasu ooh very nice. We are taking a look at the experience straight out of the box on this one 👍

@BudgetPedalChap sure, but the unit came out in 2022.
