I've gotta say, with the legion go on performance mode with no custom tdp plugged into a dock with monitor/mouse/keyboard and I'm steady over 100 fps, and when I turn the tdp to 30 w I get 130-150 fps. Love the ally but man you really should have given the legion go a shot. I'd never go back to the ally based on performance alone, not including its versatility. I've never had cod have any problems and I've got Cold War mw2 & mw3. Idk man love the vids but I would have loved to seen your opinion on the LEGO! Keep it up!
After researching why people have been getting banned on the Asus ROG Ally for playing modern warfare 3 it seems that it's a wattage issue changing mid game. From what I'm able to tell if you are playing on battery and then you plug in your power and there's a major difference between those wattage settings it can trigger the anti-cheat and ban you.
How come activision isnt looking into this situation for real because its not fair to the innocent people account being runied just because they want to play call of duty on the rog ally.
Currently on reddit they are reporting this to the FTC to get this addressed. It might just be too low on the totem pole at the moment for Activizion. Very very annoying.@@BigBearsChannel
They can tell the difference, you can be banned and its armory crates tdp modification stuff, so don't change performance modes while running the game.

Battlenet would not let me install mw2 on my ally. It said the game was in the library but not installed. Couldn’t buy it again because Battlenet said it’s already purchased …. Steam for mw3 was seamless steam for the win

My ROG Ally recently started doing this thing where as soon as I turn it on, everything just freezes and it restarts. I can't even boot a game up. Have you had this issue ever? I tried resetting the whole dang thing from a fresh windows install, but no matter how many times I try that, it never works, even if I download a fresh copy of Windows. It was working fine until I started messing with the settings for FF7 Remake. All I did was try to raise the FPS and resolution in-game, and the whole thing started doing what I just described. Haven't had access to my Ally for a whole week. Any suggestions or leads you might know of to point me in the right direction?
I had something very similar when I was messing around with halo infinite. I set the FPS to unlocked and the game crashed, and it froze. My ally almost like it bricked it I believe the way that I fixed it was just hard, resetting it not factory resetting it. That honestly sounds like such a unfortunate situation. I wish I could help but mine was solved just by restarting. I didn't have to do anything more than that.
It does seem like the issue is coming from that changed graphic setting are you saying that you're installing a fresh windows or your factory resetting the entire device? You could try going into bios and see if there's some sort of safe start or safe boot!
@@gamersdigester I didn’t try resetting through bios yet. Honestly, I didn’t want to have to do that due to how unreliable it will be down the road. I don’t know if you know this, but once the warranty is up on the Ally, you actually can’t keep using ASUS cloud recovery to fix corrupted copies of Windows (at least that’s what another UA-camr said). If this ever happens again outside of the warranty window, I think I’d just be screwed. All I did was mess with a games settings, and being that you had a similar experience, I’m not really feeling confident with the Ally anymore. This device has had bug issues ever since I got it, but this is a bit far, especially with limited time support. I’m resetting through bios as I write this, and I think after it’s done, I’m just gonna sell this damn thing. It’s not worth it if I have to walk on eggshells worrying when the device will inflict itself with more damage from doing normal things. Update: Bios reset didn’t work. I have to send it to ASUS. Definitely selling afterwards.
I see you set it to 18 watts. Maybe I missed it, but would you have gotten better performance manually setting the tdp over 30? I already own this game on Xbox but you make me want to get it for the ALLY because 80fps on a handheld is legit
Great question! 18 watts provides a much better performance to power ratio. It is kind of hard to explain a comment so maybe I will make a video about it! Basically, the temperatures from playing at 30 watts are hurting your performance and using way more battery.
Im getting 110 pretty steady 1080 p , 6 gb vram ,30 watt to 40 boost , high fan curve keeps temps around 70 to 80c . 18 watt is the sweet spot along with 6 gb vram

This video doesn’t touch on updating the display graphics causing Modern warfare 2 not to play on your ROG. Just the basic updates within Armory and MyAsus. Which have not resolved modern warfare not playing.
when i downloaded warfare in my ally to try out call of duty warzone to test it to see how it would run before buying the full game, Then next thing you know my account got banned for no reason on the ally. I even tried contacting activison and they said i was banned and it's doing this to alot of people. The band said unautharized uses of software and i couldnt even appeal it.
so I just looked into this and it's actually the wildest thing so the reason that you get that you get banned is because the wattage changes mid game so most people will play on battery and then plug it in mid round that can trigger the anti-cheat. I might have to make another video going over this.

Then i went back out to the main screen on battlenet and looked down and thats when it said accunt banned. i was so heated because i didnt do anything, so im hoping that activision will fix this issue soon. If they do fix the problem i just wont dowload it again on my ally and will stick to playing call of duty on my playstation 5 and on my playstation new portal.

Case and point: I have been playing mw3 since the beta, never changed tdp, never unplugged it, anti lag disabled and ive avoided all the normal triggers. Banned a few days ago out of the blue for no reason different. Also most people do not know they have been banned until they go to the ban appeal page and check, otherwise you just get thrown into crappy lobbies with other shadow banned players and you have zero chance at winning unless you are super cracked and maybe a kbm player whos good at quick scoping. But otherwise you have a super high ping on the game and you see stuff like packet injection up at the top left corner frequently too. The game NEVER EVER will tell you that you are banned at all which is really crappy to let people just keep playing. this is one of the reasons people hate it so much is they think its just the game or the players but i saw a few people who though the game was just that bad and that broken only to actually go check out the account and few of them were banned lol. this is a MASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSive problem and truth be told there is not a single reason and sole reason for the bans. the ai system just is like a sensitive person around that time of the month and you can say you dont like cheetos and they start crying and block your number. Ai anti cheats are straight up horrible.

question why are you playing at 18w when your bottlenecking it. you need to run the watts at 25w. and set your fan curves to MAX as cod runs Hot. do to MW3 being fully opt running at 25w will get you into 144 to 160fps and if your dock support 30w you can get 144 to 190fps & btw you need to update your Bios to v334 make sure to update your windows in settings make sure AC is up to date and and make sure all Programs is up to date on MS app cuz there will be XB updates that will update the XB app and capture
So personally I have found the fps difference between 18 and 25 is not enough for me to justify the loud fans. If i'm not using 18 watts sometimes I will use 20. you should try it out and see how you like it!

U do have to realize cod is a cpu and gpu & ram eater. So when you run at a lower Watts you bottleneck what the Apu is capable of outputting 18 to 20w is good for games like Fortnite. AAA games like COD, assassin Creed,Spider-Man DeadSpace hogwards, SWJS, needs the 25w to 30w to out put 60fps even with FSR. When you talk about only a diff of 1 to 3% then that’s fine but when there’s a 5 to 10% diff in FPS that matters. As a pc hardcore games FPS matters. Now do to the Ally needing 25 to 30w to perform well it really do matters.

Make sure you click the toggle under the "Controller" setting that says "Controller/Keyboard" to Controller when gaming with a controller and switch it back to keyboard when obviously playing with your keyboard

Sadly yes. It can be a chore to get it all set up on a tv with the dock I use. Not sure why but I have to u plug it many times to get it perfect.

You need to make a custom fan curve at 30W. The fan will be loud but is an exchange for higher fps.
