I applied for my own Retirement visa from Australia. No problems at all, and it gives you the advantage of not needing your cash in a Thai bank (at least for the first two years). And once you have a retirement visa it's straight forward to apply for a local bank account. Definitely no need for an agent.

I am just now turning 59 years old.
I have plenty of friends that are 73 and even 83 and believe me, they get here much better care from their Thai lady than what they would receive from a care center back in their homeland.
Here you have the thai National Hospitals that would take care of you even without Health Insurance and the costs are low and you will be very surprised about this fact.
I don't worry about getting old here since I know that I will get much better care than in any other country and Thai people respect their elders.
I hope my answer helped you.

Could you please do a video about someone wanting to come and live in Thailand for say a year?
Let’s say on tourist visa (multiple entry), ED visa or even working visa if you’d be happy to teach at a school in Thailand.

You should note that if the UK Pension Dept know that you are living abroad, they freeze your pension so you don't get the annual inflation increase.
If you have 2 UK accounts in different banks, you can transfer from one to the other before you send the money to Thailand.

Hi Daz, many thanks for these retirement videos. They are so very useful and well put together. You mentioned in these videos that you food shop and do your own cooking. I have a slight concern regarding meat and fish produce from the night markets. Do you buy meat/fish from a supermarket, like the Big C? Have you made a video in one of these big supermarkets? Many thanks.

Loved the tip about lost all my money in the stock market, 555! I thought Claudio said he paid 75, 000 THB for a retirement Visa? This February I paid 24.5k for a 15 month visa and 4.5k to open a bank account. This is my third Retirement Visa; the, the first two I did myself; they are not difficult to do; however, I can get 5% interest in my home country; interest rate in Thailand is 0.5 to 1.0%, Because either way I way going to pay, I decided to have the visa agent do the work for me😁😁

The hardest thing is finding a condo to rent. No matter what country. Being there and getting around is the problem. The issues of missing all the good deals, or a great place. You can plan all you want. ( like I did) But once you are here it's totally different. There are hundreds of options. I am bouncing around Hotels in different area's of town. But the mistakes are certain to come.

Love videos like this. I plan to apply for a retirement visa when I’m there. Question: when you came on initial 60 day visa, or visa exemption, did you need an onward flight (out of Thailand). I don’t expect this is an issue for Thai immigration, more a requirement for airlines (flying out of the UK)

I've visited Pattaya many times and had a relative that lived there many years. I saw how the Thai immigration worked over a period of years and saw how crazy it was. Why would anyone tie up 800K Baht in a Thai bank just to live there and you still have to report to immigration there every 3 months. Here in Mexico I didn't have to do anything, no deposit in a bank ,no health insurance, no paying fees to an agent, none of that. They keep changing the rules in Thailand and basically if you want to retire or stay there long term you have to jump through so many hoops and tie up your money in one of their banks plus paying hundreds of dollars in fees. And God forbid if you overstay just a few days you are subject to a stiff fine and possible prison.

      Hi,
If you are planning to spend just 1 month at a time than you definitely don't need a retirement Visa and you can enter just as a tourist and don't need to waste your money on a retirement Visa.
A retirement Visa is useful for people that plan to stay longer than 6 month a year.
      Cheers
