try drilling thru a roll of the easy relesase tape on the edge so you go thru every layer with a 1 inch hole saw 3 times even around the roll(like 3oclock,7 an11,
then cut an inch beyond the half hole and youll have precut c shape tape for the bull nosing and for the top of spindles maybe the half inch hole saw for under the top hand rail now its only 1 piece of tape for the tread bull and 2 for the top youll know what to do big time saver
"Chin hair" , love it......
🤣
Very helpful, thanks. If you were priming plus 2-coats, would you remove the tape and reapply for each coat? If not would you cut the paint with an x-acto before removing the tape? Thanks for your expertise! Great video.
Thanks for the like but I'm still wondering if you'd re-tape after each coat or just leave the tape and cut the paint with an X-acto.
Hey not sure what you mean by an x-acto but I'm just going to leave my 2 cents... You want to leave the tape on as well as any paper or other protection you may have put in the stairs until the project is finished. Prepping to paint spindles like this is a long process and you do not want to spend another hour or so prepping again.
Thank you. By xacto I mean a utility knife. I ask if you would cut the paint before removing the tape because the underlying coats will be dry and sometimes the tape pulls the paint off with it once it has dried. Do you cut the paint with a knife before pulling the tape?
@@alienproductions9948 I see, you shouldn't have to if it was cut properly. Your tape shouldn't be touching the painted part of the spindle. Now it depends how long the tape has been on there but generally speaking it shouldn't be on there for more than a week or so. Don't mention it! Hope that helps.
@@frederickwagner5776 thanks again. So to be clear, you dont paint over the tape, the tape is just a guide for your brush and just in case you slip up?
Good job taping those Spindle off, not really my favorite part of painting but it's worth the effort 👍
Dude! Funny story, so eddie (helper) asks (after we finish wrapping and prepping for a 8 hours..) "how long willnit take to paint?
Me: 15 min
😭😂😂

Which sand paper we can use it for sanding ???grit
What’s the best way to sand spindles? The previous owners did a horrible job leaving streaks and drips everywhere.
I wrap my putty onife around some 220 dand paper for tight creases. And use sponge sanding pads for the rest.
Tymo ! Nice pro tips thanks for sharing
Thank you for always giving me a ton of support!
