I saw an interview with the creative director of this game and he was asked what his favorite "underrated" PlayStation game was, and the answer he gave was God Hand, so the interviewer asked if there was a God Hand Astro bot, and he just sighed and looked down with a sad look on his face.
I don't know if this is on Sony or Capcom (or both) but let the man put God Hand in his game you bastards.
The fact that so many of the series that show up in Astrobot are dead has sat in my head rent free ever since Kris tweeted about it but I'm glad it sounds like even with that lingering over its head the game is still pure fun. Also it will never not crack me up how Aloy consistently gets the "Blud thinks he's on the team" treatment.
Astrobot's reveal sent my wife through the roof with joy and she has had so much fun playing it. I also had a great time with it. Just a joyful video game

Playing the Loco Roco Stage made my heart melt, and litterally flash back to playing those games as kids. I bought them all again on PS5 because of this game, not even joking.
Got the platinums too, because I’m a freak.

Astro bot was amazing, it might be one of the best 3D platfromers I played, I love the bot cameos and I'm surprised how deep some of them are.
I was not expecting Dark Chronicle (Dark Cloud 2) to be referenced at all! For those wondering it's the bot with the green overalls and red medallion.

re: Twisted Metal. I wouldn't usually take anything David Jaffe says as like, a total truth but then there was an interview from Stephen Totilo with Asobi a few weeks ago where they confirmed leaving Twisted Metal out was a conscious choice on their part. And then from that, David Jaffe seemingly said on his own channel that he believes that stemmed from a singular person he worked with decades ago who is still at Playstation in a seemingly high enough position. That person was able to persuade Asobi to not include the franchise in any capacity.
Speaking for the Jak fans in the audience, I don't think we'd get up in arms about Jak 4 not looking like Uncharted 4, because we've seen the leaked concept art for Jak 4/Reboot that was being workshopped before TLOU, which was taking the series in a more realistic design philosophy like an Uncharted, and everyone in the fanbase collectively said "this ain't it"
Watched a friend play this. This was charming as hell, but it sucks to see all thoes IP's Sony just gonna sit on and do NOTHING with 🙃

Asobi would definitely make a great Ape Escape or even Sly. Them making Jak would be a bit odd, if only because Jak II did so bad in Japan that they stopped releasing Jak games there iirc.
Granted they definitely don't have to pull from Jak II specifically.

Not only did I enjoy the horizon level, it made me wish THAT was the spinoff and not the Lego game
I'm so full from joy and whimsy. Yum.
Maybe it's just mutual furry bias but I'm really on board with Kris' idea of Asobi taking on Sly. I think they'd come up with really interesting and unique platforming scenarios with the framework of it being a western cartoon, and it'd be cool to see them take on a game with a more robust narrative!
Also now I'm depressed we didn't get a Gravity Rush level to rep the vita that would have been SO GOOD UUUUGH
I'm confused, they didn't make a new channel for every show to get maximum algorithm juice. But hey here's a comment anyway.
And with Astrobot, there's now two games tempting me to buy a PS5...

Man. If they made a new or "new" legend of dragoon I don't care how "bad" it was I'd buy a new copy every paycheck forever.

Papering over the PS2 God of Wars with the new one and giving Aloy the prominent spot, even here the taint of Sony's executives can be felt.
I hope the team get to make more platformers and new ones at that, be they originals or resurrections of other IPs. The rare beacon of joy in the PS5's first party library.

One small gripe I have is the secret level exits. Really doesn't feel good to find a secret exit 70% of the way through a stage, meaning that I have to either ignore it and finish the level normally, or miss out on any secrets that show up later in the level.
Ultimately it's not a huge gripe, since I had to redo most of the levels anyway. But it still irks me.
Sony sure is brain dead for making this and then complaining about not having any IPs
I remember in Yathzee's review he brings up that a quarter of these IPs aren't on the PS5 in any form and the only one that is a PS5 exclusive is the demon souls remake
If you read the article and not the headline, the quote in question was a former executive specifically talking about them having a lack of original IP on streaming services. It had nothing to do with game IP at all. Remember, headlines are manipulative, don't fall for the rage bait.

No you don't understand. The only IPs that should be revived are the ones THEY like, not some other IPs. Bob even floated wanting them to move on from Astro Bot while wanting old IPs to come back which I find odd. I like Astrobot and Team Asobi. I just want to see what they do next, whatever it may be.
@@DemonLordSparda Pretty sure they're addressing the same thing I did, where Kris is just unbelievably hostile to the MediEvil IP as a whole. He's shown a weird disgust for it on Twitter and BTD within the last year for some reason and I don't get it. MediEvil may not be perfect but it does not deserve that level of hatred that Kris throws at it at every possible mention of it.
@@mugiwarajm Oh I agree. My comment was trying to highlight how odd it is that they want old IPs to come back, but are really negative about some IPs being revived. As you mentioned Kris does get pretty caustically negative when he doesn't like something. Medieval is just as deserving of revival as any other old IP.
The horizon level is the only time I disliked this game other than that perfect game no problems
