You know, politics of China aside this actually looks like a pretty solid brand, some new or tweaked ideas, reviving old rides, good clones, and while I don't know the specifics of their safety the rides at least look well built. If there's some big shift in how things operate in China and they can fully get away from the government there I wouldn't mind this company doing well and possibly having an international expansion. (Or at least a bigger one if they have a little bit already within Asia)

    • @willfe
      @willfe 3 роки тому +20

That's some astonishing optimism to think they'll "maintain US safety standards." This is the same country that looked at worker suicides via jumping from the roof and decided the best way to deal with it was to install nets around the factory buildings to catch them when they jump. Instead of, you know, treating the workers better or providing counseling/therapy. "As cheaply as possible" is the order of the day. It's just how they do things. This isn't meant as a dig against the Chinese -- just an honest assessment. Eschewing extra safety features in favor of cheaper construction costs and trusting people to be smart enough to avoid danger and perform adequate maintenance is a conscious choice they've made as a culture, and it seems to work for them. Hard to argue with results.

It's interesting that a company that does copycat rides also seems to do a lot of their own innovation. Some Chinese knockoff products are insanely derivative and very dangerous but this company shows the other side of loosening intellectual property laws. Thanks for highlighting the human rights situation in Xinjiang. The scariest thing about the camps there is how permanent they look. On the one hand, they're less visually disturbing than American child migrant detention cages, but they also represent a firm ideological commitment to completely eradicating the ethnic identity of Uyghur Muslims for the long term and on a gargantuan scale in a way that is at best a cultural genocide.

So, because of... well... a few reasons, I might as well explain the PRC.
China has always been an economic powerhouse. Since the dawn of time, it has been the source of spices, silk, and Tea. Sure it was conquered by the mongols, but until the early 1800's, no country or kingdom really wanted to conquer it (other then the Mongols)... Then in the Early 1800s, the pirate war happened. It was insignificant compared to what was to come, but it showed some major flaws in the Chinese Navy that would be exploited by the British in the Opium Wars.
By the 20th Century, China was in a bad spot. It was more or less controlled by Western Powers, its government was weak, and China really couldn't do anything. There were Rebellions, which ultimately failed... But all that changed in 1917, when the Tzardom of Russia capitulated from World War I. The Royal Family was executed, the Bolsheviks took over, and then Vladimir Lenin and Joseph Stalin created the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR). Communism found its way to China, and by the time of the Great Emu War, China was undergoing a civil war. The Democratic side almost won, but in 1937, everything changed when the Fire Nation - otherwise known as the land of the rising sun - attacked.
The Chinese Civil War was put on hold while the Japanese conquered. In 1939, World War II broke out, and China was in the midst of fighting Japan, all while the Communists were gearing up, preparing for what's to come... but that might never come if China loses... But then, a star from the west, with a star-spangled banner, rose up in anger after the Japanese attacked a certain naval base. 1942, 1943, 1944, the war was being lost by the axis forces, and China, thanks to the USSR and United States of America, was finally pushing back the Japanese. In August of 1945, two atomic bombs fell on the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, ending World War II. China celebrated, but the communist were almost ready to launch an attack.
In 1949, everything changed, as an atomic bomb exploded in Russia. The soviets had an Atomic Bomb. A Red scare began in the west, while communism began to flourish in the East. By the mid 1950's, Communists had taken over the Chinese government, North Korea was created, and the clock struck one minute till midnight... even so, there was hope for China, as the Republic of China had escaped to an island.
The 50's roll bye, and came the Vietnam 60's. The People's Republic of China (PRC) had sent troops into Vietnam to help keep communism. In 1962, the clock struck 30 seconds till midnight, in the midst of the Cuban Missile Crisis, and even though the PRC had nothing to due with it, if either side fired the first shot, the entire world - including the PRC - would feel the ripples of it.
The 1970's and 80's came to pass. President Nixon made trade deals with the PRC, only to get impeached due to Watergate... But China was picking up its industry. In 1991, the USSR finally fell, but the PRC still remained. By the year 2005, China had adopted a Capitalist-Communist system that increased its industrial power 100 fold.
There were protests, some students in Tienanmen Square wanted to bring Democracy to china, only to be met with 7.62 and 5.56 millimeter rounds fired from Avtomat Kalashnikova Assault Rifles.
In the western provences, China began sending large numbers of Jews, Christians, Muslims, and people of other non-atheistic beliefs into "Reeducation Camps". Millions would die, but this is the PRC we are talking about, with a population of over 1 Billion.
Western Companies wanted that dollar from China. They completely ignored the atrocities, for all they saw was dollar over a billion dollar signs. Google almost moved to China, but some loud and proud voices in the company stopped it at the last minute. Roblox tried to move to China, but was ridiculed by its fanbase. Lots of other companies tried to move to China. A lot were successful, but the few that failed were hurt seriously by it.
And now, we come to 2020. Every nation, company, and more or less person on Earth bows to the wills of the Chinese communist party. Our food, our clothes, it all comes from China. Countries are scared to bring the atrocities China has committed to light, out of fear that China will stop exporting oh so important Goods. Even if a country was able to break ties with China, China could just bring goods to the country through a different country - one that needs China.
And yet, information is the worst thing to be changed by China. On UA-cam, if you say anything that could be offensive to the PRC, it gets deleted within 15 seconds.
All in all, China's crimes might never be brought to light, and its peoples will continue to suffer, all because we rely to heavily on China.

Personally, I think China is in for a hard 2020s decade. A lot of the world doesn’t look at them nearly as fondly anymore. Will it change anything in the long run? Who knows. But it looks like some rocky roads ahead.

4:29 then this ride is probably more reliable lol. God those torbillions don't like to come down straight and when they come down uneven some contactors fail to connect and half your restraints don't unlock.

Thats interesting, it never crossed my mind that they may have made the solid arms for reliability reasons but that makes sense. Wonder if the Nanfang model rides better?

Wonder if anyone knows what’s going on with Six Flags New England? About half of their roller coasters say “closed for the season”. The other location near me is Six Flags Great Adventure and none of their rides say that, even though they’re both closed for covid right now

Kind’ve like how China has a knock off version of the LEGO Creator Expert Roller Coaster 10261. Based from the one I purchased, the pieces are all intact and look exactly like LEGO’s. I’ve already constructed the first half of the coaster and am now working on the second half. It appears it’s a pirated copy of LEGO and then sold as a generic product for less money. I got it through a US wholesaler company thinking I was getting the LEGO version. The only downside is that all of the 4,000+ pieces didn’t come in numbered packages which has made it very challenging in finding the pieces for each part of the coaster park. But, it’s been working out ok as I now am familiar with each piece. Good o’l China knock offs! LOL.

Those look well built, bright, and fun. I mean I’m sure a lot of this is promo footage for either Nanfang or the park they’re at, but still. And I don’t find a whole lot wrong with knocking stuff off, at least not when they do it. I’m betting it’s difficult for american companies to break into their market, and I’m betting it’s hard for them to get the resources to try something totally new and crazy.
