This was the best argument ever XD I worship this chaos of people yelling. Here is my two cents: I thought that there was some things that were sacred in the parks, but it's clear Disney feels some things are not. I don't think Disney would close Pirates and completely replace it. It makes too much money and is too much of a draw, Great Movie Ride WAS very dated, the animatronics were not the greatest, the movie scenes could have been updated, and TCM adding their name did not improve it that much other than restoring the lobby with the animated posters. The Mickey ride LOOKS cool, but agreed it should have not gone in the Chinese theatre, it should have replaced Launch Bay in the Animation Building, keeping that area themed to what it was. Hollywood Studios is a shit show right now, and any name it gets would not fit anymore, as it seems like "Florida Adventure" where Disney dumps anything they feel doesn't work in any other park. I think the Indiana Jones stunt show could be ripped out and replaced with a whole new ride or two, maybe even the Indiana Jones ride from California, or some new ride system, and it would be awesome, that show is super dated, and still "behind the scenes" themed. Anywho, next up, ELLEN!

Instead of Disney closing TGMR they should instead closed it for a major overhaul of the scenes and added more up to date classic movies with some scenes staying like Indiana Jones and Marry Poppins. Disney could have replaced Alien with a scene from the Death Star for Star Wars, kept WOZ, added a family friendly scene from the Titanic and so on and so forth. I do agree that the Mickey’s Runaway Railway was a much needed representation for the classic in the park but replacing the main ride that kick started the idea for Hollywood Studios is killing the parks roots. The new Mickey ride should have taken over the animation courtyard instead of Star Wars launch bay. Launch bay could have been implemented in Galaxy’s edge.

So as I discover all of these old deep dives into history, more specifically as I'm watching your BttF of TGMR, I get a notification on my phone "Beginning March 4, 2020, all aboard for Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway .." Sigh.

It's super sad Great Movie Ride is closing, I'll miss it and usually I can say "at least I'm excited for what's coming" but I really sadly can't for this one.

HydroThe Bro a ride themed to the new Mickey Mouse shorts on Disney Channel called Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway. I think the new cartoons are a passing trend and I personally don't like the art style used in them and can't believe that THIS is how they are replacing a beloved attraction like Great Movie Ride.

I am Sad to Loose a Classic, But I have Always felt that the One thing Disney Always needed is A Mickey Mouse Ride, and Unlike You I Love the New Aesthetic Look of the Mickey Shorts. But, yes It also has to be the best theme park rides ever. Disney still has yet to top The Harry Potter Experiences.

I'm really not that big of a fan of Mickey Mouse. They push him way too hard compared to the other characters, which I understand because he was one of the first major characters Walt Disney created, along with Oswald, and Mickey was the inspiration for everything that the company has done since his first appearance in 1928, but that doesn't excuse the fact that other characters like Donald, Minnie, Goofy, and Pluto, have existed for also a very long time. I mean Donald's first appearance was just five years later, so it's not like he isn't important, but the way Disney markets the characters. By default, Mickey is the most important and the other characters, including his significant other, Minnie, don't really matter in the grand scale. Now, I'm not against the attraction creation at all except for the placement of the attraction in the park, but Mickey by far is not my favorite character. I'm definitely in the minority of all of this, but to say that everyone must like Mickey is not true. He's not the best character in the Disney universe, though he will always be the most important, more popular, and most marketable. None of that 100% cements him as the best, and I stand by that. Sorry for the long rant. RIP GMR.

Wizard of Oz at Disney was NOT the first and only themed towards the movie. Beach Mountain NC Land of Oz is a full themed park. it was built in the 1960's and till runs today every Friday in June and one day in Aug. It takes you from beginning to end with real people through the whole movie. It use to be open daily in the early years and you walk from the farm house, into the twister to meet the munckins to the tin man, and on and on till you end up walking the yellow brick road to the great OZ him self

Mom and I were upset to see this go. I feel like Minnie and Mickey could have gone elsewhere. Not a fan of anyone kicking dogs either.

I also don't like today's Mickey Mouse designs and am not a fan of today's Hollywood Studios and feel that Chapek killed it.
