I love the fact that they can improvise so well live. They really connect with the audience, rather than just trying to reproduce the studio sound note for note.
They performed it at the Celebration Day concert at the O2 in London in 2007 with Jason doing his dad proud on the his dad’s drum kit. If you have not watched this concert, and you are a Zeppelin fan, you owe it to yourself to watch the entire two hour performance. A near perfect set....everyone was magnificent.
I was at this show during the filming of this movie...and actually got to spend time with Pagey....thanks to his girlfriend who is my friend... awesome show
Just subscribed. Helene here....In an interview around 2011 with George Stroumboulopoulos (jeez that’s a mouthful), George asked Robert: When you look back at some of those videos and photos.....do you ever say to yourself “Lord, have mercy”? Robert answered...well no; but I know allot of people who do.😏
i saw them in 75 and then in 77 sawpage and plant 4 times in the early 90's great stuff indeed try the song remains the same and the rain song in 1 listen from this concert the 2 are together on the album too -meant to be listened together-super great performance a classic for the ages
I can't recall the concert and song, but there's a Zeppelin video that starts with Robert giving someone credit and then saying that they sometimes bought, borrowed or if necessary stole songs 😂
Watching the entire movie is a must. Each band member had a fantasy sequence so it’s a bit goofy/fun there but - the concert footage is what you really wanna see. Whole Lotta Love here segues in from Heartbreaker. You’ll see what I mean when you watch the film. Too bad Jones and Bonzo got zero camera time during the theramin bit. The rhythm section was as unique as a fingerprint - as is Zeppelin was as a whole in itself. They were the ultimate musical unit.
Borrowed this and borrowed that. Notice Muddy Waters didn't sue the "Small Faces." My point being, yeah Zeppelin borrowed and was influenced by earlier artists. But how often is it no one heard of the earlier song until Zeppelin's talent brought it to light? Then, when there was money to be made, the lawsuit happened. To be honest Muddy Waters should have sued the small faces and the small faces should of sued zeppelin, And to be honest, most of the lyrics in question I could have wrote if you gave me 5 minutes. I mean it wasn't like they were some deep meaningful complicated things. This entire concert is other worldly. You should at least watch it all just for yourself. There is another version of this song off of the "How the West was Won" cd that is even better and longer than this. ua-cam.com/video/V3u5rWzmhFI/v-deo.html
I know you know their music, but if you've never seen Dazed and Confused from this show, it's one of the greatest performances ever recorded. All 28 minutes of it. Page is connecting to another realm during the last 12 minutes.

This entire concert was the best thing that ever happened!

Wow! That's amazing!
The soundwave pole is called a theremin. 🤟
Yes!! I couldn’t remember it for some reason. Good stuff.
Yep!
Amazing...best band ever! Every band did covers but nobody could do it and make it their own! Jesus you gotta love Jimmy...he tears it up!!
Absolutely, the whole music industry is full of beggars and thieves but like you say Zep made it their own - irresistible!

Plant with the ORIGINAL mic drop. You don't get better than Led Zeppelin in 1973.

Some bands have stage presence while other bands not so much. There's no denying that Zeppelin had it by the truckload..
The GOATS OF GOATS! 😎🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

The small faces & led zeppelin didn’t tour together Stevie Marriott was one of the vocalist jimmy page wanted before Robert Plant
He would be one of the only vocalists other than Plant that I can envision singing with Zeppelin. Another is Dio. There aren’t even a handful.
There's a live version of Dazed and Confused from 75 that's 42min, just audio and possibly bootlegged.

You should have a listen to Kashmir live from Knebworth 1979

Shakespeare borrowed everything and made it his own. It didn't dent his reputation.
