Net Zero is horrendously expensive, impractical and totally unnecessary. China, India and several other countries continue to build coal fired power plants for cheap reliable electricity. We export hundreds of millions of tonnes of coal each year. We need to abandon the folly of “climate action “ and simply use the most economical energy resources available.
Solar and back up power is a net high upfront cost but over time balances out and goes down. The problem is you have to have a bunch of upfront money that nobody has.
@@YIMBY-e8d so what is your excuse for the child labor and slave labor to create solar energy? What is your leader status on that? Lithium is not green nor is cobalt.

Smart countries doing just that CHINA. They make a fortune sending solar and wind to Oz and they are building reliable 24x7 power for all citizens and they get power 24x7 and cheaply. So do Russians.

Dick Smith was a guest on Macca's Sunday morning ABC radio show last week. Listener's calls were taken. A friend of Simon phoned in and put it to Dick that our national electricity system is safely in the hands, ultimately, of electrical engineers who know perfectly well what they're doing. I didn't pause to hear Dick's answer. But the one he could have given is this : The vaunted engineers tell the executives and the board rooms and the committees, and the politicians, that yes it can all be done, it isn't impossible, but... They don't get to elaborate on the 'but' because it concerns feasibility and economics. "Oh don't you worry yourself about the economics of it. Leave that part of it to us." Soon only the enormous mess and ruined landscapes from these foolish schemes will be left to us.
If these Labor stooges are suggesting that the corporations installing renewables are going to do it for cost only with no premium passed of to consumers for decades they are kidding themselves. Just look at toll roads for an example of extortion and renewables will be no different. Australians are going to end up taking care of their own energy needs as this will be the cheapest option in the future if nothing changes.
The question we should be asking is whether Matt Kean has the necessary skills to be the Chair of the Climate Change Authority. Matthew John Kean (born 16 September 1981) is a former Australian politician. Prior to this, he was the Treasurer of New South Wales in the second Perrottet ministry of New South Wales between October 2021 and March 2023.
My question is always, say we actually meet these targets which seems unlikely. What does that achieve? The use of target is a narrative switch, we want to meet the target, but there is no explanation of what hitting the target will actually do.
We need more gas and coal generation (or at least keep them maintained) as most likely nuclear won't get the nod although it should because renewables and their battery mates just won't cut it. I read a report just 5 minutes ago about a new study 450 million years ago to now study on CO2 versus temperature that shows tracking and lagging and tracking of CO2 with temperature which surely does not show CO2 drives temperature. This current direction is driving bad energy policy worldwide.
For goidness sake chris uhlman, get your unit right. A quantity of gas is mot measured in watts. Thats a unit of power. Energy is power x time. Gas is measured in joules. Same scenario for batteries. They store energy. If you want your doco to be taken seriously, facts like this are essential to get right. Without the correct units your figures are meaningless
I had to go most of the winter without heating because I couldn't afford my electricity bill. I'm a pensioner on a fixed income, and I would really like to explain to you what you can do with your green energy.
Labor's climate policies are hurting Australians.
Mismanagement is not the word for this. It is far worse than any of us can concieve.
