    The stages of metamorphism can be seen in the transformation of relatively weak shale (sedimentary rock) to slightly improved version called Slate (metamorphic rock), then with higher pressures and temperatures, this rock will turn into Schist, and with even higher pressures and temperatures it will become very strong gneiss.

    So much for teaching people how to not confuse metamorphic rocks for igneous rocks.
    "Metamorphic rocks are usually foliated" doesn't really help very much. 🤷‍♂️
