I have a small army of the super cheap floureon batteries. The one 3s pair I've had for a touch over 2 years and easily have a min of 150 cycles. Been in storage mode for 8 months roughly and not even .01 of a volt off. They all soak up way more MAH then rated and definitely get good run times. I have about 10 floureons, both 2s and 3s ranging from 3000 mah to 6200mah. 3000mah will get about 2 hours off my gen 8. The 6200 begrudgingly took 4 1/2 hours to kill. Most I've paid for a pair is about 50 bucks, 40 for the smaller capacity pairs. Not even a lazy cell throughout them all. 👍
I have two rigs I still run NiMH in. I figure as long as I'm happy with the performance and I'm getting good run times, it's a safer battery. I'm not so worried that it could burst into flames. One of those rigs is a crawler and I have never used a whole battery, I get tired of playing before the battery runs out. But my other rig I've been considering converting to LiPo because it just doesn't want to crawl, it wants to be bashed, so I'm at full throttle a lot and I only get about 15 minutes run time using the same NiMH battery I get over an hour with in my crawler.
Intend to have a better experience with my 8.4v nimh batteries than I do with the 7.2v 2s lipo. I like the "slow death" of the nimh more than I like the "sudden death" of a lipo because it makes things more predictable when I'm out on the trail.
😁👍 I still run Nimh packs like 75% of the time in my crawler trail rigs and I have lots of lipos , it really don't matter that much in a crawler with the low turn motors they use and plus the low gearing they have.. Only one advantage is the lipos are lighter and will make your truck be a little less top tippy.
Even ions less c. But cheap on a ground unit. Id buy 30amp Samsung. Weld in series. RUN till Almighty comes back Lol THIS WILL NOT WORK ON AIR TOYS DUE TO WEIGHT OFFSET
I think the best value by far in the LiPo segment is Turnigy. Super cheap and all the ones I've owned have been over the rated capacity. I have a couple 5000mah 3s packs and one 5000mah 2s that I've had for nine years that are still going strong with zero issues the whole time I've owned them. They actually started as two 5000mah 4s packs(because that was cheaper lol) but I removed a cell from each one to make the 3s packs and combined the removed cells for the 2s pack.
Im running a 1800mah 4s lipo in my trx4sport with 2280kv mamba slate motor and stock gearing. Had to make the throthle and reverse curve very kind to keep the low end precition with the sticky stock transmitter but now its both very fast and good low end on the rocks (Y)
hobbyking.com/en_us/turnigy-nano-tech-1800mah-4s-25-50c-lipo-pack.html I think i'm jusing that one. But i'm not using the stock batteri tray. This batteri got the perfect size to my car.
what do you think of the powerhobby 150c batteries? i want to know is it a true 150c -300c battery , just seem a little light for that c rating! also turnigy graphene panther?
Hi.. enjoy your vids ..may i ask a question as a newbie to Crawlers...i have a FTX outback ranger 2 .with the standard 7.2v 1500 mah batt i think 6 cell? .bout half hour run ..would like to get bit longer and a bit more get up and go .any advice ..and also the shocks seem very hard and bouncy on it ...any advise would be greatly received ..many thanks....great show..peace.
Hi, Can I use LI-ION 18650 3500MAH 11.1V LI-ION BATTERY in to Hobbywing Quicrun 1080 with 7.4v servo and 13T bruch motor? I'm not sure about the C rating. Tnx🇵🇭🇦🇺
I started with a 2s 5000mAh that is quite slow in 2nd gear for hikeing. So changed to 3s 5000mAh. I lasts for about 1.5h or apprx. 5km and 400m Elevation.
Thank you for that first-hand experience. Yes, 3s opens up options. Can take some fun lines too while hiking. And since the motor has more speed and torque, one can gear up, or down depending on preference.
Is it possible for a battery to have too high of a C rating? I am running a Hobbywing 1080 with a HH Trailmaster 21t. I have a couple of 3s batteries that I ran across with a 110c rating. Not sure if they will damage the Hobbywing or not.
What would be the best battery to use on a arrma kraton 4s? I just got it for Christmas nd havent used it as I dont knw anything about rc cars nd dont knw what battery to buy. I'm new to this rc stuff.
7600mah 2 cell Traxxas lipo on their e z charge system. Plug and play, the truck has the plug already for it. Traxxas offers an excellent warranty on their batteries. Honestly no reason to try the others IMHO. You can get a 3 cell Traxxas lipo but will have to modify the battery strape on the TRX-4.
I haven't had a warranty claim for a Traxxas battery, but Venom has an outstanding warranty for their stuff and their universal battery plug works like a charm across multiple platforms.
These systems are interesting since they make things safer and fool-proof. Spektrum has a new system too. The bad part is you get locked in a single source for batteries and chargers and they're usually more expensive.
I have a 5000 45c 7.4 2s batteries.my batteries dont last 1 hr or less.im running 1060 hobbywing.what is the problem why doesnt last longer even i do trailings?
King Ian David how heavy are you on the throttle? Is your drivetrain efficient? I run both a 2s and 3s 5200mah batteries and get well over 3 hours of run time. My son on the other hand may only see 2 hours when he uses the 5200mah battery because he’s heavier on the throttle then I am.
How the heck do you get so much runtime on the Trx-4?? I've got three, and with the exception of the Sport, both my Defender and tactical get around an hour on a 5000mah battery (doesn't matter if it's nimh, 2s lipo or 3s lipo)! Like clockwork - dead in an hour give or take 10 minutes. This includes pure trailing and only rock crawling! So frustrating - both have brushless motors and I don't destroy the throttle. By comparison, my scx10 can go for 3h minimum on the same batteries and the same trails 😱😱😱
Interesting!!! What we're doing is exactly what you see in our videos. No trail running, just crawling on rocks. So a lot of on/off/modulating. Rarely full or even half throttle. With 3s, use the throttle even less.
OMFG I know why I recognize you now... a few of your videos convinced me to get the TRX4 Sport. Been trying to figure it out and then it hit me. Still ride bikes I assume? We never met, but you may have been in my bike shop in NJ and have ridden with my fellow flip friend Oliver C. back a few years ago. Anyway, thanks for the content, holler at me if you ever need a guide in Bend Oregon.
RC Review I sold Tenafly Bicycle Workshop in ‘14 and moved to Bend, sold my TV, got off Facebook. Now I just ski, ride, and rediscovered RC after 25 yrs away because of my kids. Salamat for all these great vids! The Balay’s are part of the group that I sold the biz to. We didn’t meet cause I was always working, not riding hahaha
You can run more power, capacity and less weight all in one. I have a 4.5 oz 1300mah gens ace 3s pack i run in my rigs. Get a solid hour of run time easily. Paid 19 or 20 bucks for it too.

hello for crawlers with 2 brushed 540 motors that I recommend as battery is very low

yeah, for the same capacity, lipos are now 1/4 the size and weight. So lower and can be strategically positioned on the vehicle.
Even ions less c. But cheap on a ground unit. Id buy 30amp Samsung. Weld in series. RUN till Almighty comes back Lol THIS WILL NOT WORK ON AIR TOYS DUE TO WEIGHT OFFSET
Yes now ions are catching up up to 30 amp per. Hmmm. Also High Discharge. On trucks. Lot better LIFE OF CELL

I got the Traxxas charger+Lipo deal (2S 5800 mAh).
Next purchase will be a 3S 2200 - 2800 mAh....

yes, they will work.
1st!!!!!! Love your videos!!!! I have a TRX4 Sport and its amazing!!!
yeah, yeah!!!!!!
Trx4 got me into crawling, before that it was bash/track only.

Doesn't 3S have 50% more power, and 2S 33% less power?
cant beleve that in 3 years no one responded. but you are right, it does have 50% more power. 7,4v * 1.5 = 11.1v
😁👍 Great video , I love the SMC lipos they are priced right and are awesome!
