Fred Callaghan This is also one of the hottest cups of tea I’ve ever sipped because I’m also from Chicago, and have nothing but so much respect and love for Jarrod and Jon, they both have killer tastes in music and are awesome as people and their craft!!
i love knuckle puck but lmao they need to take a joke, if i was in a band and someone parodied my band name i would've been like "hell yeah dude" and just owned it. it's a meme that's actually made knuckle puck more popular and relevant than they were before. kanookla pook was how i actually found them, and now they're in my top three favorite bands.
The Story So Far did the right thing after the kick incident. THEY DIDN'T SAY A WORD!!! If Knuckle Puck weren't such babies (I actually love their music, they're in my top 5 favourite bands! But I just can't stand their attitude) people would've forgotten about it within a few weeks. But no...Joe had to open his mouth and get all butt hurt because no one can make fun of their music. Jared is right...they put themselves on this super high pedestal and they think they are untouchable when really they're just another band as vulnerable to jokes as any one else!
A lot of pop punk band shirts are very similar. I've seen many bands make money by making Stranger Things themed T-shirts but with their name on it but it's still fair use.
I actually met him at warped and said I wanted to go to their set and call them kanookla pook and he said sarcastically "oh yeah they love that". Lol. If you get offended easily, you just ask to be offended more. Grow thick skin.
As a follow up to that, im sure tons of fans of Jarrod including myself get called Emo or stoners or goth or whatever all the time and we all get over it
I love Knuckle Puck, Copacetic helped me through a rough time in my life and I really respect them as artists, but it's really disappointing that they can't take a stupid joke.
This is the most serious I've ever seen Jarrod be on UA-cam haha. Good interview, Jon. I'm on Jarrod's side, even though I do enjoy Knuckle Puck's music! :)
issues made a video with him spelling their band's name wrong cz they know it's just a joke, i never heard of knuckle puck before jarrod's mispronouncing band names video so he's actually promoting these bands not taking credit from their fame. :|
Legitimately love John, Jarrod and Knuckle Puck but disappointed that KP have taken it all so seriously. Kanookla Pook is the best - its totally funny and if anything is actually promoting the band. Jarrod is right that Kanookla Pook has introduced people to the band.
I never would have heard of Knuckle Puck if it wasn't for Jarrod, they should thank him, it's all in fun and clearly falls under fair use, do they not have a sense of humor?
I met them this year at warped tour and they were super chill dudes, pretty good music too, but I gotta be honest... I really freakin' want that shirt now. kek.
I love Knuckle Puck just as much as the next guy, but Nick and Joe seem to be a little too over-sensitive on this one. Their band name is stolen from The Mighty Ducks movie. I thought they would be a little more chill about it. If anything, like Jarrod said, it's just going to give them more publicity. I think the main thing is that KP has worked really hard to create something personal and Jarrod is kind of shitting on it by making it a joke. It's a good joke though. KP just needs to laugh about it because getting butthurt just makes them look worse.
The fact that they asked him to stop joking about it and then he went and made money out of making fun of their name is not cool. I hate this "it's just a prank bro" attitude sucks.
Chemy NoSurfea the whole point really is, why does it matter? the whole kanookla pook thing was never meant as slander to knuckle puck, and it certainly wasn't meant to "tear knuckle puck down". i love kp, they're one of my favorite bands of all time, but they really just need to let people have fun and make jokes. i found kp from the kanookla pook meme, if anything, kp should be pretty happy, they got a ton of fans and relevancy from the joke.
"I hoped I wouldn't have to make" you make videos on everything that blows up in the music scene lmao don't act like you weren't gonna jump all over it
just want to say knuckle puck named there band after a character (i think character) from the mighty ducks you don't see the might ducks writers getting angry
The whole modern pop punk thing going on is known to make fun of itself. It went from "defend pop-punk" to "pop-punk sucks". who gives a shit about this whole thing? Neck Deep and Real Friends joke around with it, hell even Seaway! They have a shirt that just says Fuck Seaway. I find this whole situation immature and pointless. Jarrod didn't do this to hurt anyone, hell he evens says that he enjoys KP and hopes the best for them. I guess what I'm trying to say is...pop punk sucks haha. Get over yourself and have fun. If no one is hurt or wants to hurt...whats the problem?
Stonemountboy Neck Deep on their own album said "fuck Neck Deep mate, they're shit" lmao, most bands in this scene fuck around and say things like that about themselves.
Honestly great video dude! I'm fairly new to both of your channels but I just wanted to say I really enjoy the stuff like this! Your reviews are always really well done and I enjoy checking them out even if I'm unfamiliar with an album/band you're reviewing. On this issue, I'm definitely Team Jarrod and when I saw this video pop up in my sub box I was immediately excited to hear your opinion! I was even more surprised to see Jarrod in it's awesome that you were able to do this. Keep up the good work man!
honestly i love Knuckle Puck. i dont get why they're being such tightasses. like Alonge said, some people (like me) found out abt Knuckle Puck through the original video with Kanookla Pook and really enjoyed them. it expanded their audience. I don't get it.
I think jarrod is fine, but heres the thing ive never listened to knuckle puck and the way they made this a big deal why would i listen to them? Jarrod is huge in the scene we mostly all know his jokes and its funny. We all know its a joke. If anything the way they reacted was shitty and makes me not want to listen to them not the shirt.
RandomChicas2 listened to them way before I found Jarrod's channel, yeah he's got jokes but that's about the only reason he's relevant, I mean in the music scene he just profits off of other people and not anything he's created himself, he just creates parodies of people's work, in the grand scheme of things; if the band wants you not to sell it, respect their wishes. You're profiting off of them by making a joke about their name and album. Yeah his shirt is "fair use" but he's garnerning profit off something someone else has created.
i met knuckle puck once and asked the singer if they got their brand name from The mighty ducks movie (It's knuckle puck time) and he looked at me cluelessly and I was like come on dude you know what the fuck I'm talking about. He literally refused to believe a connection between their name and the mighty ducks and i was like whatever you say dude lol. not a fan.
Fuck, so this thing is still out there huh? Let's look at it this way: if you and your band play great music and get the job done, you can get our stuff heard and get famous. But if your business is comedy, that's another different level, anyone can make a stupid video about anything funny, but Jarrod's forte is comedy, he's been the official reporter for fearless at warped for two years, he has released 3 musical productions and with more to come, all based in comedy. Is hard to get recognition out of comedy, get fame and music released just by his comedy is something I really admire. That's why all this is idiotic, there's people out there who really don't like watching other success.
I agree with everything you covered. The only thing is that it may infringe on their merch sales. Bands make shit money and their labels already fuck them with merch sales. Parody shirts are appealing. Like I personally bought a "destroy pop punk" tshirt because I liked that it went against the grain. However, your shirt still draws attention to the band. That could have been good for them but then the band reacted wrong and now are drawing more attention to your shirt and now people see them as big babies.
lol i remember before this beef was a thing. When I met Jarrod at warped in 2015 i said something about kanookla pook and he was all like oh yeah i guess they dont really like that name. or me. whatever. i thought that was so funny..that they actually care about Jarrod giving them more publicity. He never said "I hate them they suck blah blah blah..." hes literally giving them publicity. hes a comedian. this is how hes doing it and he does it with every other band
Okay... So if someone chose to buy the 'Knookla Pook' shirt, and they weren't a fan of the band, just the joke, then it's not like they'd be buying a Knuckle Puck shirt anyway. So they're not losing any money there... And if an _actual_ Knuckle Puck fan thought the joke was funny they'd likely buy the shirt, too. BUT. If they were _actually_ a fan of them, they'd buy Knuckle Puck's shirts anyway. They don't _lose_ anything. And a ton of people heard about Knuckle Puck through Jarrod, so there's that. If I were to buy Knuckle Puck merch, I'd buy their official merch, AND the Knookla Pook shirt. 'Cause guess what. IT'S A FUNNY JOKE.
I think the reason why they are upset is because they were randomly scrolling through Twitter and saw that someone was making fun of their merch. I feel like if jarrod asked them first if it was cool if he made that everything is phonetic shirt they wouldn't have been so upset.
"Knuckle Puck just chill" in description. I get "fair use" but the point is he's still making profit off THEIR band. I get why Joe would be kinda pissed. A lot of people sub to Jarrod and if he has say 7k people buy this parody shirt, thats 120 GRAND that KP doesn't get for merch that is based on them
Alejandro, yo so did they give PlayStation Royalties from their KP shirt? Pot calling the kettle black. Jarrod made money off a joke he made, something he created. Knuckle puck got free publicity and marketing off the shirt 🤷♀️ seems like a fair trade to me..
There are way worse things occuring in the world that they could be offended about, but they choose to me offended off a joke mispronunciation? Its not that deep though
i understand it was a joke completely, but why are you going to continue with it when it is obviously something that upsets others/ the people the parody is being made of.
+Sara Ruiz lmao, so everyone should give out hugs all around? No. parody and criticism is necessary otherwise we would all walk on eggshells all day long.
I agree that Knuckle Puck took it way too far, but what most people seem to be bothered about is that people will buy the parody shirt INSTEAD of the original Knuckle Puck shirt. Therefor Knuckle Puck would lose money. I don't agree with it however, but this seems to be a bigger offense to people than the actual joke? Just wondering what your thoughts on that are!
Sophie vd w. That didn't seem to be Joe's problem. Based on his twitter, it appears he literally felt it was slander. Nobody is going to buy a Kanookle Pook shirt when they actually wanted a Knuckle Puck shirt.
Sophie vd w. I honestly think if people are buying the shirt, they're buying it because they like the joke. I don't think KP would lose any money considering the person probably wasn't planning on purchasing their merch in the first place.
I would have thought that its upset them because they too have aligned themselves with the parody name and would have probably made their own shirt like that but theyre actually offended??!! LOL
Blake McConnell Exactly, fuck Weird Al. Fuck the Scary Movie series. Fuck Hopsin with the song "No Words." Yeah, fuck parodies. Fuck anyone that tries to make light of something. Fuck anyone who has an opinion that parodies are good. Their opinion doesn't matter. Lmaoooo. You and I are clearly superior because all parodies are bad, and they're clearly just trying to make a quick buck off of other people's fame, and they're definitely not trying to have fun, and make people laugh, while also being able to make money off of this fun, and other people's enjoyment. LooooooooooL!!
It's clearing hurting Joe Taylor and the rest of Knuckle Puck and I think that's something to be mindful of because you know, they created the original topic here.
+Blake McConnell it's clearly hurting them? Dude, hop off that high horse. You're the one that's based your entire look on Matt Healy of the 1975, shouldn't you be paying him royalties or something?
Everyone has been saying kunookle pook and a billion other different combos on KP's videos and on tumblr. I've kinda lost a little respect for them now. -______________-
I lost so much respect for Knuckle puck after this whole incident. I cannot listen to music if I don't like the people who makes it. There's way better pop punk band out there anyway who aren't full of themselves.
Favorite bands are 1,975 PPPPPPPPAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNIIIIIIICCCCC!!!!!!! at da disco. *Blink Eyes* One hundred eighty two. Chocolate Chunk no Mr. Captain Chunk. Four Years Strong.
Aren't jokes meant to be funny? Look man, I know he's supposedly a comedian, but he's not funny and he damages the scene, this is hardly first time he's appeared in drama. The fiasco with Hands Like Houses is a good example of Jarrod getting on people's bad sides, people he's making his career off of. I don't really get why he even exists in this space.
I was all for believing this video and thinking KP can't take a joke...and maybe they can't... but this video only tells part of the story. When you watch Jarrod's OWN VIDEO on this, you understand KP is mad partially because Jarrod is making money off Knuckle Puck's popularity. That's a legit argument, since KP fans are buying the shirt off Jarrod. This video, however, makes it just seem like KP is only mad because they "can't take a joke". misleading video, ARTV. Jon, you never once asked him about the money side of it. It's like you researched this just enough to take Jarrod's side, but didn't look into the other side. disappointing
This is possibly the funniest beef of all time, mad respect to Jarrod though, he definitely won this
Fred Callaghan This is also one of the hottest cups of tea I’ve ever sipped because I’m also from Chicago, and have nothing but so much respect and love for Jarrod and Jon, they both have killer tastes in music and are awesome as people and their craft!!

Okay, who changed all of knuckle puck's Wikipedia to Kanookla Puke?
Nick Leek They deserve it.
Sergio Martinez pls whoever is the savage pls come forward
Nick Leek a lot of people have. i've done it but it always gets changed back within like a minute xD
The Story So Far did the right thing after the kick incident. THEY DIDN'T SAY A WORD!!! If Knuckle Puck weren't such babies (I actually love their music, they're in my top 5 favourite bands! I would wear that shirt and go to one of their concerts
Danny Martinez they'd probably pull a Ronnie Radke and boot you just for wearing it.
id give you the money to buy the shirt to see that
+kobra kid i've already bought it lmao
they better expect to see thid at every show. im buying one just to wear to one of there shows.
we saw like five people wearing it when they played at the wonder years show last week lol
honestly if someone made a parody shirt out of my band I would buy that shirt and wear it.
Fuckin oath
A lot of pop punk band shirts are very similar. I've seen many bands make money by making Stranger Things themed T-shirts but with their name on it but it's still fair use.
"No one should take themselves so seriously."
-What's My Age Again, blink-182
best quote for this situation. THAT is what Jarrod should have tweeted back to Joe
Lmao I would stoked if Jarrod Alonge was making fun of my band
+cooldaniel101 same
Oml I didn't expect u too respond haha hi jon
Fuck every time I read "knuckle puck" I'm gonna think "kanukle pook"
ever since the first video of how to spell band names, I always say kanookla pook
I actually met him at warped and said I wanted to go to their set and call them kanookla pook and he said sarcastically "oh yeah they love that". Lol. If you get offended easily, you just ask to be offended more. Grow thick skin.
As a follow up to that, im sure tons of fans of Jarrod including myself get called Emo or stoners or goth or whatever all the time and we all get over it
Clay Whitfield Yeah, you’re totally right I honestly couldn’t care less!!

Waiting for KP to write a whole album about being so "hurt" over this
"everyone knows jarrod needs memes to stay relevant" FOLLOW CHODEZILLA FOR SOME GOOD SHITPOSTING
Legitimately love John, Jarrod and Knuckle Puck but disappointed that KP have taken it all so seriously. Kanookla Pook is the best - its totally funny and if anything is actually promoting the band. Jarrod is right that Kanookla Pook has introduced people to the band.

honestly the whol "take the shirt down. Now." is what my 50 year old mother is like over my facebook

knuckle puck really needs to let this go and just move on. I'm with Jarrod side.
The fact that they asked him to stop joking about it and then he went and made money out of making fun of their name is not cool. I hate this "it's just a prank bro" attitude sucks.

The only T- Shirt I'm noticing in this video is The 1975 one 😉
Amelia Healy same
Haha the Kanookla Pooks are pissed off :D
The whole modern pop punk thing going on is known to make fun of itself. It went from "defend pop-punk" to "pop-punk sucks". who gives a shit about this whole thing? yeah they are taking themeselves too seriously
Did Knucklepuck ever ask jarrod, "where's your respect."
Jarrod love memes so much lmao
I wanna wear my shirt to the KP show I'm going to soon, but I don't want to be given dirty looks so that's not happening.
mariahmatix I'm wearing mine under a flannel... 👀
mariahmatix wear it, be a savage
everything is copacelit

Buuuut now I don't want to at all.

+Jason ikr, they seem to disagree though
@Drew Biggah this is 4 years old, god damn get a life
Kanookla Pook has gone off about this before too. It's copathetic.
I literally watched to the end waiting for this whole thing to be one giant joke
i met knuckle puck once and asked the singer if they got their brand name from The mighty ducks movie (It's knuckle puck time) and he looked at me cluelessly and I was like come on dude you know what the fuck I'm talking about. He literally refused to believe a connection between their name and the mighty ducks and i was like whatever you say dude lol. not a fan.
Yoooo that AFI in the background. subbing just for that
Right on! Got that from my vinyl copy of Decemberunderground
Fuck, so this thing is still out there huh? Let's look at it this way: if you and your band play great music and get the job done, you can get our stuff heard and get famous. Famous Stars and Straps as well sue As It Is for the "Who the Fuck is Patty Walters" shirt
Didn't knuckle puck get their name from a Stick To Your Guns shirt....
DID YOU...purposely miss spell that video title...
"Kanucklé Pook." LOL. I'm giving a like just for that!
I'm buying this shirt and wearing it to there show with The Wonder Years, Real Frie.ds and more
lmao i have no interest in their music now
lol i remember before this beef was a thing. When I met Jarrod at warped in 2015 i said something about kanookla pook and he was all like oh yeah i guess they dont really like that name. or me. whatever. i thought that was so funny..that they actually care about Jarrod giving them more publicity. literally typed this while watching the video and just now realized he said everything i commented on....oops
i fucking found a poster for The Offspring in the background!!!!!
I LOVE THEM SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH
Jarrod Alonge & Fair Use VS KANOOKLA POOK
speeeeaking of infringement, credit Rob Scallon for that guitar intro (which ironically is a recreation of an existing Kendrick song)
Wish you reviewed his album "Friendville" a while back.
Slowpoke Paul
I actually don't think it is Kanookla Pook. I think it's Fuckle Fuck. Someone make that shirt.
"Fuckle Fuck
Everything is Copathetic"
i wonder where john got that dope 1975 shirt. i want
As much as I love pop punk and Knuckle Puck, the scene is probably one of the most salty ones out there. lmao!
IT'S A FUNNY JOKE.
look at Miss May 1, people mispronounced their band name FOR YEARS and they didn't say shit about it
Jon's channel gonna blow up cause of jarrod
The intro song is just so relaxing! What is the name of it?
Just Martin Rob Scallon's cover of Swimming Pools, from his 8-string Kendrick video.
I think the reason why they are upset is because they were randomly scrolling through Twitter and saw that someone was making fun of their merch. I feel like if jarrod asked them first if it was cool if he made that everything is phonetic shirt they wouldn't have been so upset.
I love the intro song? What is it?
knookle pook introduced me to knuckle puck, whose music is great.
saying that, i do believe that this drama makes them look ridiculous and it makes me think that they may not be very nice people.
i feel like Knuckle Puck are just hypocrites who can't take a really funny joke
Knuckle puck my favorite band dude
Where can I buy the shirt?
Mad respect for Jarrod.
that CHVRCHES tour poster👌
There are way worse things occuring in the world that they could be offended about, but they choose to me offended off a joke mispronunciation? Its not that deep though
I Have The Same "The 1975" Shirt! :)
i understand it was a joke completely, but why are you going to continue with it when it is obviously something that upsets others/ the people the parody is being made of.
+Sara Ruiz lmao, so everyone should give out hugs all around? No. parody and criticism is necessary otherwise we would all walk on eggshells all day long.

Are those shirts still for sale?
song in the beginning?
what's the song in the intro?
+Robert Likes Music swimming pools by Rob Scallion.
Beyond ARTV I wish it was a full version
kanooklapook you mean???
Further proof that pop punk isn't real punk.
Support people who make original content, not those who make bad parodies of it to turn a profit.
Blake McConnell By that logic, don't support Knuckle Puck because of their PlayStation shirt.
Very big difference between people who make creative parodies and people like Jarrod Alonge who have been riding the same joke since literally 2012.
I think hes thinking of landon tewers' this song sucks where he says he wants to kill every member of botdf
whats that intro song???????
Everyone has been saying kunookle pook and a billion other different combos on KP's videos and on tumblr. I've kinda lost a little respect for them now. -______________-
Can't tell if this is a joke or not?
Has anyone else realized that Jared is starting shit with a lot of people
I really don't get the so called knuckle puck 'fans' who are now boycotting the band because they 'can't take a joke'.
Nicholas Hoover "can't take a joke."*
I wish that someday you review the album "Wing" by BTS :c
They have good lyrics, I really recommended to you to check out.
Thank I love opinions not from 15 year old angsty teens
AND Nice The 1975 shirt you earned yourself a sub
i dont blame them. I'd be pretty annoyed by it too. It's not even funny
Do u have add?
I lost so much respect for Knuckle puck after this whole incident. I cannot listen to music if I don't like the people who makes it. There's way better pop punk band out there anyway who aren't full of themselves.
nice top
Favorite bands are 1,975 PPPPPPPPAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNIIIIIIICCCCC!!!!!!! at da disco. *Blink Eyes* One hundred eighty two. Chocolate Chunk no Mr. Captain Chunk. Four Years Strong.
Hey artv
Just to clarify, is this for real?
Is it just me or does this guy REALLY look like Shane Dawson?
Aren't jokes meant to be funny? Look man, I know he's supposedly a comedian, but he's not funny and he damages the scene, this is hardly first time he's appeared in drama. The fiasco with Hands Like Houses is a good example of Jarrod getting on people's bad sides, people he's making his career off of. I don't really get why he even exists in this space.
Jak Dee what happened with him and hands like houses?
Jak Dee I would like to know what happened, too.
