Can't believe Husky got to be Clive's companion in FFXVI! 🐺
That intro bit that vibes so hard from "Don't Be Afraid" from FFVIII gives me chills. Soken is such a master at paying homage to previous FF tracks while at the same time crafting something unique and new. And Husky is unparalleled at emulating him.

It feels so crazy how the FF16 OST already sounds like a classic to me. I get the same feeling as when I hear pieces from my childhood and it's like I've known the song my whole life. Many of them live rent free in my head when I'm out doing stuff.
I played 1-8 on release and 16 is already my favorite battle theme, and has a few other all-time classics. I've had the chorus riffage stuck in my head for a week.
I'm getting close to the end, and it's already my favorite OST in a FF game. I've played 1-8 on release, and the series meant a lot to me as a kid, but nothing hypes me up like seeing monsters and engaging them because the song will come on. Also, the lunar serenade makes me feel ever time, and I'm rooting for Jill.
Clive is a big stupid himbo, and while I like him, I feel for Jill and hope she gets hers before it ends. I'm at the part where we're destroying the second Mothercrystal, with Cid and Benna watching on.
Soken understands uematsu's style --- a strong memorable melody. You then build the rest of the track with the melody as the backbone.
I love that the main combat theme for 16 is a revamped theme from 14. There is a lot of it that comes directly from Eureka's theme.
I was totally thinking the same thing. Even so much that I turned them both on side by side and definitely heard the resemblances. It's amazing what Soken can do.
There's plenty songs in here that I can hear similarities to shadowbringer

The leitmotifs from "Don't be Afraid" and the Eureka theme fit well with the song, I like this battle theme!
And, of course, this rock cover is amazing 🔥
The calm, melodic part in the middle of this track always gets me. It's so good

It's FF4 and FF6 for me, this game is my favorite Final Fantasy already and I feel so lucky to live long enough to grow up with those games and then experience 16, like this is the best timeline.
That time signature play Soken did at the beginning, giving a sense of urgency, is wonderful.
Following it up by making the rest of the battle music a _waltz_ is a work of genius.
It's such a maze ! It alternates between 6/4 and 5/4 a bit randomly, super fun to play once you catch it !
I love when composers use the 5/4 time signature, like in the Mission Impossible theme. Makes the song sound urgent, and off-balance.
And Soken uses it at the start of a battle, like when you just randomly are running around and get jumped, when both the character _and_ the player might be shocked and uncertain. Those seemingly random 5/4s are you, player and character, trying to get into the rhythm. Once you do get into the rhythm, it fully goes 6/4 (or 3/4), and you enter into this waltz, further emphasizing the dance-like action combat in the game.
All this to say, props to Masayoshi Soken for his composition, and props to you for a wonderful cover.

@@ericbright1742 I never watched the TV show nor did I study it. After a quick Google search it does say it's in 5/4.
Reaching the climax of a fight after the horns do their thing in this song is one of the best rushes I've felt in a long while. This cover perfectly conveys that selfsame feeling. Wonderful job, Husky!!
Hearing the tones of so many FF ost in the 16 ost brings me such joy, and such a sense of nostalgia.

This might be a hot take, but as somebody that played all the single digit games and a little 10 and 12....this is the best battle theme they've ever done. The music in this game is just off the charts...
I've never played a Final Fantasy and wanted to get in fights because it meant I'd get to hear the chorus of the battle theme as I slapped monsters around. It's a brilliant song.

Coulda sworn I lost my eyebrows and my hair grew to ridiculous levels there for a second.
After unlocking eurika in ff14, I recognize the song from ff16. Ff16 battle theme song is a remaster version of Eurika, a Island you have to go to get Stormblood armor and weapons relics. Also after all the negative feedback about eurika, I actually love it!!

@@tyler8995 How Do I Unlock Eureka? Unlocking Eureka isn't too difficult. All you need to do is grab the quest “And We Shall Call It Eureka” from Galiena in Rhalgr's Reach after completing the Stormblood main scenario questline.

How do you think a Histoire- The Holy Empire of Sanbreque goes rock would sound? It's a little more on the gentle side I'd say.
We didn't get full power Soken for this game but he definitely delivered a few bangers across the soundtrack, and this theme will probably stick for a while

@@Huskybythegeek It would be hard to get into, also just saw this, this is the track. (Though you probably already googled it.) It's odd because it doesn't "sound the same" I just feel that way it starts and presents itself throughout the track gives me that vibe of similarity. (Hopefully that makes sense?)

When the music is so good within a single minute that I have to go unlock Eureka Anemos on my main so I can listen to that motif forever... For the record, I hated anemos when it first came out, so this is saying a lot.
