I'm so glad Bob Hansler was able to provide these kids with the knowledge they don't appreciate!
Timber Rattlesnakes are fantastic creatures, that every year we work our tails off to find, photograph, and videotape to share with the public. These snakes are magnificent and we have gained more knowledge and respect for these creatures over the past three years than we ever would have imagined.
Thank you..... good information with respect to the mink oil. Just peeled a 4 footer myself this morning.
Glad it helped 🤝🏻
Thank you, really helped a lot!
Thanks for the feedback! Glad you enjoyed and it helped!
I always give my snake a good shake😅
Extremely informative
Thank you! That was our goal with this video!
I just used this method on a timber rattler. And it absolutely ruined my skin. Do you guys have a fb so I can message you guys to ask what went wrong
Search our username on Facebook we have a page

Nice job fellas
Thank you!

Thanks for watching!
Where were you able to to find the glycerin you used to tan the skin? I’ve been looking online and am having a hard time finding pure glycerin, I just got a good sized rattlesnake last night, it’s in the freezer now but I’m gonna skin him in a few days and wanna make sure I get the glycerin and and rubbing alcohol mixture correct.
My buddy got the glycerin from Walmart or rite aid. He used a 50/50 glycerin to isopropyl alcohol mix
I have no idea where you are, tho Natural Grocers ALWAYS has vegetable glycerin. That's what i used when I skinned my 1st rattler🤩
I live in Texas and just killed my first rattlesnake. I enjoyed this video and want to tan it. What tanning solution should I use?
Thanks
I was able to tag my first snake and a copperhead this year. I did my copperhead this same way and I have it just hanging about. Did you do any drying period after it came out of the solution before oiling it again
Yep I dry it out for a few hours or until it feels like sunburned skin
What he said
How do you dry a snake skin off and when do you put the mink oil on I have a big water moccasin that’s in glycerin and alcohol right now
We dried it off in the sun for a little before applying the mink oil after we stretched it
Nice job
Thank you
I was given a dead 4 foot timber rattler. He says the snake bit itself before it died. What precautions should I take?
I can’t give you a 100% knowledgeable answer but I would say just handle it with caution and wear gloves to avoid getting any kind of fluids from the snake in any cuts in your hands
Wish I saw this sooner
Did you work on your own?
Can we when we do that sell it to sombady how whil make bage or someting else ? End if we can for how mutch we can sell snake skin if is it like yours ?
What amount of solution do you put in the jar?
A one quart mason jar filled 2/3 full is more than enough to do one of these.
Hey there, what kind of tacks did y'all use?
Any kind of small nail or tack will work as long as it has a little head that is not noticeable
@@CentralPaOutdoorsmen I am considering using narrow strips of Velcro down both sides. Don't know yet, but was trying to think of a way to not put holes in it.
What is the solution?
So how long should u wait to make sure it's reflects stop and how do u kill it with out messing up the hide
We let it in the deep freezer for about 3 days. Freezing it allows you to keep the head on when you skin it out
Can you add a video on the process to re-attach the rattle
How did you dispatch this snake, keeping the head on?
We talk about the process in the video where we catch it but we put it in a pillowcase alive and freeze it to death
@@CentralPaOutdoorsmen cruelest way to do that
How do you do it with a head on👀I just got one today
You have to dispatch the snake by freezing it in a deep freezer for at least 3 days then you are able to skin the head and body together
Where in PA are you?
We are located out of dauphin county
Do you have a link of what type of oil you use?
No link but any coconut oil or mink oil
What he said
I’m not sure the exact brand but mink oil it a common leather oil you can get it and tractor supply or any western shop
Pillow case is for a pillow
Thanks for watching! They double great for hauling snakes out of the woods!
What is the ratio of glycerine to alcohol?
50 50 use 91 % alchol
50/50
me making a taxidermy of the bitch snake my cat killed and using this as a tutorial:
Hopefully it helped lol
I’m really trying to go on a rattlesnake hunt but can’t find anywhere
Look for high elevations and rock piles
i just caught and kept my 1st one yesterday in forest county. id gladly pay you to put mine up for me. interested?
Congratulations and unfortunately we probably won’t take you up even tho we appreciate the offer. Hope you find someone who can help or use this video to do it yourself
Did you just use 70% alcohol or 91%?
I believe it was 91
How to kill and skin a rattlesnake: Don’t
Elaborate
@@CentralPaOutdoorsmen rattle snake “hunters”in PA have worked hard over the years and for a long time were the only advocates for these snakes. Advocating people to not kill them and see them for the docile impressive animal they are. True rattle snake hunters don’t kill them.
@@tannerlamb6501 I kind of see where your coming from also true dog owners don't enslave dogs to do work. You see i cant tell you how to live your life and if I say something is cruel or disgusting that doesn't make it true, subjective opinions are not objective facts. Use your tag however you would like and I will use mine how I like so long as we are bot inside the law its good.
@@jhebenthal that comparison literally doesn’t make any sense. I’m just stating the fact, a true rattle snake hunter worth any respect doesn’t kill the snakes. You can find this to be true on any rattle snake hunting forum. Rattle snake hunting tradition around here has a lot to do with respect, respect for the snakes and respect and a hunter.
@@tannerlamb6501 real rattlesnake hunters don't kill snakes, real deer hunters use archery, real archery is traditional only, real traditional is atlatl. I think our disagreement here is on your subjective definition of "real" I educate people on these wonderful animals and respect them like you wouldn't imagine however just like deer ducks bears turkeys and squirrel I am able to respect them and still dip my toe into the food chain
