    Corey is a beast on organ but that backpack makes him look as if he gotta make a run after the solo. I have to admit, I never understood the whole backpack thing. About 4 or 5 years ago, I use to see UA-cam clips of musicians wearing backpacks almost for no reason while playing. It reminds me of when dudes use to walk around holding briefcases, nothing was in it mind you, it was just a look. Saw 1 UA-cam clip of a dude playing keyboard with a straw in his mouth. Why? Fads come and go.

    Nice but but but, as a Christian you sold your rights to self show off, and said you would follow and point others to Jesus( not your talent). All that shall be consumed in the fire, with gold to see- let not your living be vain. ;-)

    • @Mrsybnvus
      @Mrsybnvus 10 років тому +1

      He's just a master @ what he does, and because of that he draws a crowd of on-lookers. Just as it was with Jesus. Now I'm not saying to worship him like a god or Thee God of our salvation but I do believe that same Anointing that raised Jesus from the dead is able to work through a musician (or any other yielded vessel) to excite the spiritually dead... And the living!

    • @CalvinLimuel
      @CalvinLimuel 10 років тому +2

      now certainly you can say that too preachers too. don't speak with too much charisma, too much shouting, too much theology, too much points, just point others to Jesus. you can tell the ushers no don't show off too much of your talent of communication and hospitality. You can tell the singers to have no solo and sing in a modest key. In fact, you don't have to wear your best suit to the church.
      Well sir you're missing the point. You point others to Jesus. which would be through your talent, and to do so you would have to have others to notice your talent as well. Glorify the Lord with your talent, with what you have, all the best of you.
      Every person has the right to worship Jesus his or her own way, if it does not offend the Bible that is. There's a time to show off, but this man right here, he's praising the Lord and blessing people.

    • @uplift56
      @uplift56 10 років тому +1

      Ursula Levy I must say, I'm rather distracted from Christ when people show too much of thier imagination through thier talent, it's carnal and they do it as if they are riding on pride at times. God doesn't want to work through the vainess of talent only, through what comes from humilty and prayer. You can do extra but God can barely transfer Himself through the stuff cause fanciness & etc, is in the way. It stinks to Him. He'll touch the lost another way.

    • @CalvinLimuel
      @CalvinLimuel 10 років тому +3

      ***** brother you remind me of those churches that still say drums are carnal, are of the devil, while the Bible lists a lot of percussive instruments. Remember in the time of King David, he instructed the church musicians to be schooled. In Middle Eastern musical tradition improvisation plays a big part you know. So who knows at that time they might had been doing it the same way this guy does. Probably King David also did a "show off" that made the evil spirit depart from Saul. Probably that's what makes people coming to church as depicted in Sister Act.
      can you also say Johann Sebastian Bach, the master harpsichordist/clavichordist/organist/composer wasn't glorifying God but instead a hindrance to God's working power because he demonstrated his impeccable virtuosity and the high degree of compositions in church? Sure he wrote secular works but look at his church music works too. Same awesomeness. People still talk about it and study it for centuries!
      Don't limit God, you can't tell Him how He should work. God work how He wants to. Unless it's not biblical, unless you can uncover conditions of people's hearts, don't control how people want to worship the Lord. How could you say vainness of talent? Are our talents vain? Aren't our talents given by God? Man I'm a musician and I want to give the best in what I do, if it's for God. And if Paul says, do everything as you do it for the Lord, then in actuality do the best in everything. Of course I have to draw the line between church and secular music. But I don't want to just use simple I-IV-VI-V for the whole song, I can arrange, I can reharm that, why not do that? I want to give my best, not saving my tools for just secular music because church music only needs I-IV-V-I. If I'm doing music for God, I want to give the best of my musicianship/techniques, I want to give the best I can do to compose/arrange/reharm/direct stuff, why not? Why lukewarm music?
      Of course we need the Holy Spirit to move. You're correct we need humility, prayer relationship, heart of worship. then when we do our best, we bless people. Just as I study Bach's music I can throw two birds with one stone, I train for better fingers coordination and compositional skills. When musicians are doing their best, people are blessed, and musicians like me can benefit from listening to them and imitate some of the good stuff I can learn, like now I'm learning organ from Dennis Montgomery III. When I play my best too, whether it's piano, bass, guitar, or drums, I bless people and the musicians at my church back home are blessed and I can hear myself when they play and they bless people they play their best.
      I hope I've opened your mind, but if not, still, may you be blessed.

      Someone playing in the Spirit doesnt need to play dull to be proven as doing such. Let him play w/his soul w/out your ignorance shunning his passionate playing. THIS is why our musicians leave the church and go where they can play passionately w/out being condemned for it.
