  • 🇵🇪 HUANCAYO, PERU - Was 12 days in Huancayo, Peru too much time to spend? Not for us! We quickly discovered worthwhile things to do in Huancayo and this city in the Peruvian Highlands put us under a spell. You could even say we fell for Huancayo, Peru!
It seems not many foreign visitors are drawn to the sights and attractions in Huancayo, Peru. Many visitors likely know about Pisco Sours, however those not traveling off the beaten path in Peru don't know about Huancayo's steamy, curious cocktail known simply as the Calientito.
Visitors here will find a lovely Gaudí-esque attraction in Huancyo: Parque de la Indentidad Huanca. Active travelers should head for Huancayo's Torre Torre which offers hikes through stunning scenery.

Fascinating town, you two keep finding better and better places.
Drifting is the only way to travel without a single doubt.

I always enjoy watching you two. I now understand how you eat as much as you do and not gain weight. All the walking you do, keeps you in great shape. Thank you both very much.🤠

Thank you, Roy! Sometimes we spend all day walking around and eating - especially here in Lima where there are so many little restaurants and so much delicious street food.

Beautiful! You, and us, get to appreciate so much more thanks to your slow travel approach. No need to rush in, check boxes and move on. You probably know Huancayo better than any foreigner. Looking forward to where you drift next!

Thank you for acknowledging and appreciating our style of travel! It's lovely around this part of Peru and we're happy to share it with you!
As we get older, the slow approach to travel seems to suit us more and more. We think back to our year-long hitchhiking trip through the US, Mexico and Central America in 2013/2014 and we wonder how on earth we were able to go at the pace we went at. Although we'll still hitch a lift these days, we'd prefer hanging out in a spot bit more and getting to know a place better.

Hi Marthe. You're very welcome. We're happy to show how beautiful Peru is. Soon we'll show more of Peruvian food, which is incredibly varied and beyond delicious. We hope you're enjoying Carnaval in Mazatlán. Thanks for watching our video Marthe 🤗🤗.

Hello. Thank yous so much for enjoying our adventures in Huancayo. We really did love this town and hope to return there some day. There's a train that goes from Lima to Huancayo (only at certain times of the year) and we would absolutely love to do this train trip some day.
Right now we're in Lima (avoiding Carnaval), and soon we'll be heading north on our trip. Alas we've only a couple of weeks left in Peru and then we cross back into Ecuador for our flight out of Quito later in March. Thank yous so much for all of your support and for enjoying our travels. 🤗🥰🤗🥰

      Thank you, Kate!
We never felt unsafe in Huancayo. We don't know how safe other travelers would feel in Huancayo - that's impossible for us to answer.
