      There sure is!! and thanks for watching. Many don't realise actually how much goes into upholstery. There are still those that think everything is a 10 minute job, it's just a bit of sewing right?

    That was a great video! Thanks! I just hammered out and welded up a new seat for my lawn mower with some steel from an old barrel. It's kind of rough looking but was surprisingly comfortable. I now need to put vinyl over the foam. What type of glue/adhesive do you use? Would it stick to painted steel? I already painted my seat pan.

    • @stitchingsteve
      @stitchingsteve  Рік тому

      Thanks for watching the video. I use a sprayable contact adhesive but you can brush it on if that's easier. If the paint is dry then should stick fine. Best of luck with the covering

    In the final step, when you went around and attached the long clip strip -- where do you purchase that? And also, is that marine vinyl you used?

    • @stitchingsteve
      @stitchingsteve  Рік тому +1

      It's called edge trim or door edge-trim and sometimes windlace (even though it isn't) depending on who labels and sells it. Not sure which country you're in but you should be to find some online. There are three sizes S,M and L. I used the large on this. The vinyl is an automotive grade

      @@janegilson1886 Try searching for pinchweld trim too. It has so many names for one product. Modern JD's are vinyl welded so you might be lucky and have an older model. Best of luck with the repairs

    What was the little fabric at the end of the stitching? Where do you buy that stuff around the edge of the seat?

    • @stitchingsteve
      @stitchingsteve  8 місяців тому

      Hey, thanks for watching!! That little bit of fabric is scrap offcuts that I use to sew on to, to stop and start each sew line. It saves holding the thread or wasting more than you need to. Lots of comments about this... Might have to make it's own video 🤔. The stuff around the edge is either called Edge trim, door trim or push on windlace. Try your local Upholster/Motor Trimmer

  • @taylorfarms279

    where do you get the edge piece? and what is it called?

    • @stitchingsteve
      @stitchingsteve  Місяць тому

      Edge trim, your local upholsterer/motor trimmer should have it or be able to help get it.

    • @stitchingsteve
      @stitchingsteve  8 місяців тому +2

      Thanks for watching! You could buy a new seat, if you can find one for a 30yr old mower. You could also set yourself up for doing jobs like this... or take it to someone who has all the gear and materials already? Plus this was for my own mower so my time and materials wasn't an issue
