These are great ideas. I have experience teaching starting with uppercase letters. But now that I'm also teaching Dutch, the school system in the Netherlands teaches lower case first because that's what we see most of when we are actually reading. Every method has its own logical reasons. Since learning is more fun while playing, make it fun and helpful for the kids with any method. (that's of course easy to do if home schooling if the school curriculum does only one way)
