    Absolutely no way would Ginger would ever do anything like that especially with Eric being one of his best friends. No way man

    While I wouldn’t suggest anyone in the Clapton/ Baker entourage would be in anyway dishonest,
    Let me tell you, I have worked in bands over years. When it
    comes to money, or needing money, loyalty goes out the window.

    If Ginger was clean then there should be no apparent reason for him stealing Eric's LP. That's the nice side. Except the world of hard drugs (and alcohol) is scary, viscous and full of low-life who expect payment.
    Ginger's drumming was immense. But his reputation goes before him, and he wasn't good with money either. Desperate addicts would sell their mother for their next fix. Ok, he was clean at the time of the theft, but who knows whether Ginger owed money, maybe a lot of money?

    How can you tell if a junky is lying? Are his lips moving? Not saying Ginger stole the guitar, but taking a junky at their word is a fool's game.

    I fully agree , Ginger loved Eric and his playing , why would Ginger jeopardise Cream too , it was Ginger’s baby -Eric was crucial to that success

    HIGHLY doubtful. The Beano burst location is known (as per Joe Bonamassa) and presumably the story. No way would Ginger jeopardize the band in those early rehearsals.

    • @Hiwatt100W1
      @Hiwatt100W1 24 дні тому +2

      Yes, I heard or read that Joe B knows the location of Eric's Beano LP. I always thought that this was dishonorable or dodgy on Bonamassa's part. Joe knows where this historic instrument is, that was stolen from a player who he ostensibly copied and admired, tells the world he knows, but he didn't tell Eric where his guitar is? Maybe I've got it wrong, but I lost a lot of admiration for Bonamassa when I heard that story. He should clarify this history...

    • @ChristopherHolmgren
      @ChristopherHolmgren 23 дні тому +1

      @@Hiwatt100W1 I do not think you heard the correct story. You'd have to find the video (twitter I believe) where Joe talks about visiting/playing the guitar. He knew all the details (some he did not reveal) and we all know Joe knows Bursts. Clapton was informed of the location and owner but for unknown reasons had no interest in getting it back. This was years ago.

    Just for anyone who doesn't know, Clapton and Ginger say that Ginger wasn't a junkie in the mid to late sixties. He was in the early sixties when he was strictly playing jazz. Ginger used over the years, but would stop often too. I don't know the truth, but that is something to consider. In the seventies Ginger became an alcoholic and he said it kicked his ass worse than heroin ever did.

  • @Hiwatt100W1
    @Hiwatt100W1 18 днів тому

    I don't think that Ginger would have done this, or more importantly, really would've needed to. Ginger was a registered heroin addict in the UK, which meant that he obtained heroin legally from a licensed pharmacy. He did not need to steal to get money for narcotics. He was, moreover, under the care of a physician specializing in addiction medicine about this time- this according to "Hellraiser", his autobiography cowritten with his daughter, Nettie.

    It's an abhorent topic really. Gingers gone and not here to defend himself. It's done. I doubt the Guitar even exists anymore. Surely it would have surfaced by now? Not a good thing to remember or attach Ginger to with so little evidence. Circumstance isn't enough. RIP Ginger Baker.

      ( for a while anyway )
      with the other two. JPJ was sensible.
      I don’t know if JPJ would have fitted the bill.
