    L Track is a great idea to attach items in the garage area, for the bed, my suggestion would be to use wood bed slats available at IKEA that you cut at the bed dimensions, you will get some suspension under the mattress and plenty of ventilation.

    One point that is important for those who may want to do something similar to what rich did, make sure you put foam neoprene or another liner between anywhere two points of metal contact each other. If you fail to line any of the 8020 with a foam liner or silicone you will get horrible rattling in your van while you drive. I copied what rich did and I'm having to redo everything and add neoprene foam everywhere to get rid of all the rattling while I drive.

    Pegboard works great to support a mattress, block heat transfer between the 8020 and mattress and still allow airflow. Home Depot etc. should sell it.

    • @Ch3699
      @Ch3699 3 роки тому

      I was going to suggest wood and then hole saw or even forstner bit a bunch for ventilation and to reduce weight while keeping structural strength. But pegboard is an easier idea! Usually not too thick but the 80/20 is a grid pattern which should be enough support.

    Great job dude, I'd use that real thin wood Luan I guess that's what it called real thin ( plywood paneling stuff's) about a 1/8" or so, not sure if you got room to do 1/8" pop rivets in that 80/20 I think that would be pretty light and look good too

    The bed I have in mind is similar to your with an additional pivot section, so that a section of the bed folds down on itself to form a seating bench, (the whole thing placed lower of course). I wonder if you looked into the max load of the pivot itself. And, not to get personal, but a 40" bed, so no second person there?

    • @RichBuilt
      @RichBuilt  3 роки тому +1

      Fits two people. I have 4 pivots and there have been no issues with deflection or over loading. Hard to tell what the limit is but so far so good

    • @RichBuilt
      @RichBuilt  2 роки тому

      I used roughly qty-(12) 8ft sticks of the 10 series aluminum extrusions. Depending on your span and weight restrictions you may want to upsize to the 15 series extrusions. 10 series are lighter and cheaper, but not as strong and don't have as many accessories that allow you to fasten together.

    Looking good! If you butt your 8020 right to the water tank and matched that width on the bluetti side, could you get 48" width in the trunk?

    • @RichBuilt
      @RichBuilt  3 роки тому +1

      I think you could get close. You just need to keep in mind not to hit the cabinets overhead when folding the bed up. The dimension was intentional so I can create a electrical closet on one side and plumbing/storage on the other.

    I like it! I've been looking into a similar setup where the middle section can be moved out of the way and didn't consider the pivot hinge with brake lever. Good idea! Can the lever be loosened all the way so you can remove the middle section of the bed platform entirely? Also, how has the 10 series been working out for you? Have you found that it's strong enough? I haven't placed my order yet and have been going back and forth between the 10 series and 15 series for my bed platform. Finally, does the L track provide enough support? Thanks!

    • @RichBuilt
      @RichBuilt  2 роки тому +1

      yup thats correct, you can remove the middle section if you like. 10 series is perfect for me, but I'm only around 160lbs. The L-track has not moved at all, it is held down by 4 bolts and locktite

    • @RichBuilt
      @RichBuilt  3 роки тому

      Hey Doug, to secure the Bluetti AC200 I used 8020 to create a frame and lock it in. Also helps to prevent easy theft of the unit. For the water storage tank, I'm using 8020 L-angles on the bottom to lock it into place against the wall. From there I used an industrial 3M adhesive called dual lock. Hope that helps
