Thank you for this video. My father jumped on Corregidor when it was liberated. He was in the 462nd Parachute Artillery Battalion attached to the 503rd RCT. Heard many stories but seeing actual videos is fantastic!!

Was there in the 90's. I could feel the anguish and death that I cried despite the tranquility on the surface.

I visited Corregidor many, many moons ago before it was open to the public and before the scrappers had vandalised the island. At the time I was a guest of Philippine Naval Intelligence and arrived at the jetty MacArthur left from aboard a WW2 PT boat.
It was a grey, pocked-marked landscape, devoid of any greenery or undergrowth and it's vistas gave both justice and honor to the carnage that took place there, and those who passed.
Many parts of the island were still restricted at that time due to unexploded ordnance and unexplored, partially collapsed tunnels.
Here and there were white crosses to mark where remains has been discovered so that they could be repatriated.
Even as a Vietnam combat veteran, I was shocked by what I saw as it was truly descriptive.
I again visited in the 80s and was saddened to see how it had become more of a Disney production than a memorial to the dead and a lesson regarding the futility of war.
To those planning a visit I would recommend reading up on it's history to put things in perspective. An interesting and moving place.

Vehicles are not allowed to enter the tunnel anymore. A well presented light and sound show is now being presented as scheduled. I was there before the lockdown in 2020.

Been to the Rock twice. Once before it was cleaned up of overgrowth and once after. First time was more impressive. Knew about the laterals, but was not aware of the vent tunnel and the storage tunnels. Quite a place.

Did a tour of Corregidor in Dec of 2018, it was a guided tour and we didn't really have much time to spend in the tunnel, but in our tour group was 8 US Marines from the Embassy, we wanted to go into the side tunnels, but we weren't allowed to :-( nice video !

goverment should fund it and make as a national museum. This would attract a lot of tourist.

I would like to visit this complex, my father was an Army medic during the siege, and was captured when the island fell. Three years as a POW held at Bilibid Prison. He was wounded while on The Rock.
