I am almost glad I’m getting too old to travel. Historically I never just booked a single cruise without booking other related travel. I am DISGUSTED that cruise lines feel free to change cruises simply in order to increase their profits. Disgusting ! Changing because of weather is desirable and reasonable, but changing capriciously stinks.
NDL-nickel and dime line. They are absolutely taking advantage of a situation and raising prices thinking that this could go on forever. They seem to forget that there was pent up demand because they bent the knee to the activists who shut them down. Then they tried to discriminate against people and said they only wanted those with anointed medical treatments to go on. They have scaled back on a lot of things, I've been on several cruises before and after the authoritarian lockdowns and it's a very noticeable difference
Same. I just let a $500 voucher go to waste. After seeing Ben & David's about the Epic and a bunch of others as well as reviews, I don't know if I care to sail with them any time soon. Used to be my preferred line. Their pricing is absurd as well.

@@sharonh2172that may well be the itinerary, but most people would say DOWN to Antarctica. But is a case of Don having a different geographical.perspective as was said.
When they sold bookings the going prices were lower and by cancelling and rebooking and current market prices means they will make more money when they start rebooking these ships. Another way to squeeze more money out of customers.
I was booked on a cruise on the Star going from Iceland to Norway (including Svalbard) in May/June next year. They cancelled that cruise on us earlier this year (said it had been chartered), refunding everything paid, and gave us a 10% future cruise discount. Problem is, I lost over $160 on that refund, because the exchange rate was different from when I paid. So, yay. Thanks NCL! You not only chartered our cruise ship out from under us, I got shafted because I have to pay for the cruise in US dollars instead of my own, making me lose money, on top of losing a cruise to a bucket list destination. Will be booking a cruise to Svalbard with another cruise line in the future… Will also NOT be booking a cruise to Antarctica (another bucket list destination) with NCL. They cancel too many trips to Antarctica for my liking.
I just did - My Panama Cruise for October 2025, that I just booked 2 days ago! Got canceled yesterday! They said it was being reposition! This seems like a re-acurring thing with NCL!
Returning your deposit on a cruise the line cancels is not a "reward". And a 10% cruise credit isn't much when you consider that prices are going up, not down (or even staying static).
Our Nove. 1, 2025 Panama Canal cruise on the NCL Jade has also been cancelled. The email said all of Jade's cruises from 10/18/25 through 2/16/26 are cancelled "as a result of redeployment. They also note a full refund and the 10 o/o FCC.
Thanks Don, for the news on NCL. I have travel NCL 9 times and enjoy all the cruises but the changes in the Last year and their decisions make me wonder what they are up too.
Thanks for your news about NCL. Sounds like a lot of repositioning going on. We will see. We're going on NCL Epic in a week's time, so I guess that might be our last NCL cruise, as we opt for Princess most of the time.
I’m weaning myself off of general cruising. It’s not as fun as it used to be. I’ll stick to group cruises, knowing the type of peeps I can relate with.
They will never get the chance to cancel us as we cancelled them (NCL) years ago😅😅!! Gosh there are so many other better cruise lines out there to choose from.
We did the Prima in April. Everything was fine. But they did some aggravating things, like stacking the loungers at 6:30 in the evening, on deck 8. Never went up to the Lido much because it was too small, so I liked hanging out on deck 8. Then every day about 1 they would block off half the observation lounge for an Art Gallery talk. It would last 3 or 4 hours. Not major gripes, but just not feeling any interest in doing another NCL cruise….
My November NCL Dawn cruise Dubai to South Africa was cancelled many months ago because o safety concerns in REd Sea but December itinerary was still available and into the new year….it is not safer so I am not surprised they were cancelled.
Why do they need to give an incentive at all in this case? These sailings are more than 6 months - almost a year from now. That's plenty of time to make an alternate plan. If this was within a month or two, then yeah people should get compensation.
@@NeedtoSpeak really and are you an expert on the fact that Viking bailed on a load of cruises about six months ago? Get real and start acting like you have a brain. Were you scheduled to cruise between India and Greece for 21 days? I doubt it. Well, I was.
If cruises are not getting booked, then repositioning to places where demand is not being met is the smart business move. So, presumably interest in South America and Africa was soft.
Most of the cruises being cancelled are late 2025 or early 2026. NCL was ahead of most of the other cruise lines in publishing 2025 and 2026 cruises. I heard that several of the voyages had become full ship charters. NCL may have decided to snap up a sure thing and not have to worry about filling up the ships. I also noticed the cancellations are on older vessels, which are often less profitable. Since a year's notice was given in most cases, doubtful that anyone had made non refundable air reservations. NCL may also be responding to how the other lines are deploying their ships as several lines just recently announced their 2026 deployment. I've booked on NCL as well as other lines. MSC has made a number of recent itinerary changes to European cruises in 2025. It doesn't get much press because relatively few North Americans take MSC.
Well Don, its because of these reports you give me that has made up my mind to never cruise again. I started in 2005 when these lines really cared about what you thought after the cruise. Now they could care less and if you dont like it stay home. I stay home and have found other ways to travel.
Totally agree with you. There are too many rude passengers on the ships now, and you can not depend on your chosen ports because the lines would rather sell your cruise to a last-minute charter.
Lets hope the insurance companies get there money back from NCL. Insurance companies are not going to sit back and pay out their customers without getting the money back from those who caused the loss.
I don't understand the big deal. I understand it sucks, but these sailings are a 6 months to a year away. That's plenty of time to make an alternate plan.
It’s not just about making an alternate plan. I had my cruise cancelled earlier this year (ship was chartered), and lost money on the refund because of the exchange rate. Not everyone is American and paying USD for USD.
2nd time with NCL cancelling 1 of our planned cruises. It was a Repo from Tampa to Philadelphia on the Jewel in 2026. I am having reservations about rebooking with them again. The FCC of 10% is not enough enticement. We got the email yesterday. I'll blame the Orange Stain for this decision by NCL.
Wow, with Norwegian moving things around the way they are the only thing missing now is….. your cruise credit is not available for this cruise sincerely, an overpriced cruise😜 yes indeed these moves clearly indicate that Norwegian is hurting bad
The ♿️room , was so dirty , smell of urine, blood drops on blanket and toilet seat . Balcony was not finished, it was not for disabled people . They did not have another room for us . They changed the vent ,full of dirt . Cleaned the carpet , painted the balcony, while we were staying there . 😷 unbelievable the had that room for sailing . Disgusting 🤢.
That would be horrible, if your planning something big and the they cancelled. If your traveling to someplace far and have to plan. 10% is not enough. Hopefully they get this worked out.
