    What portfolio can you make as a BA? You can't use company's artifacts because of conflict of interest. The concept of porfolio makes sense for website designer, webdeveloper, appliation developer and graphic designer etc. You Emal can have a portfolio which will be your youtube channel and BABlock website. You can tell the world that "my knowledge on BA speaks here". I don't think very many BA's have courses or books written.
    Please give advice for ordinary folks who are willing and motivated to do extraordinary performance. Thanks.

      You definitely can use your company's artefacts and you can do it ethically and legally if you take certain precautionary steps.
      1. Ask your clients directly, and get their formal written permission. If you ask a manager whether you can keep work for your portfolio, you may find that the manager does not have any major issues as long as you take percautionary measures.
      2. Understand you non-disclosure agreements with your clients/employers and strip out any details from the artefacts that may divulge information that would violate your non-disclosure agreement. You can do this by completely changing the subject matter and the client name on a use case, but still keep the sequences and steps (just as an example).
      Some clients and employers will not agree to it under any circumstances. You can skip those ones and focus on the ones where points 1 and 2 make sense.
      Is this guidance helpful for you to get a portfolio create for your next interview?

      @@BABLOCKS Thanks Emal for suggesting this. Yes I definitely will follow these suggestions. I think stripping out the details and changing the subject matter seems more practical to me.

      @@BABLOCKS This is exactly what I do in interviews (and also what helped me get a job recently). And if you cannot *show* the material in any way, at least you can describe what you did and the process you went through to complete those tasks/projects. *HOW* you explain your thought-process will tell the interviewer how well you know the material and also how well you can think/discuss (which is a CRITICAL aspect of being a Business Analyst).

    If I have not yet done good technical projects but:
    1. I have managed/directed a Modern United Nations ( MUN ) event of a budget of 7000 USD where 180 participants were involved from around the world.
    2. I'm the President of a Non Profit Organization which ties up with start-ups guiding and conducting workshops on Entrepreneurship, business handling.
    Can I include such projects/ positions in my Resume instead?
    What about failed Startups? ( EduTech start-up was going good until my Investor stopped funding because of Corona Pandemic). Should I include this or will this be a negative on my Resume?

    • @BABLOCKS
      @BABLOCKS  4 роки тому +3

      It's definitely beneficial for you to include these experiences on your resume to show that you have some transferrable skills. Including a failed startup should not be an issue when it comes to credibility. It may be worth while indicating why the startup failed directly on the resume.
      Including such experiences may also help to explain gaps in your resume that may show if you didn't include these.
      Employers are more likely to worry about gaps than they are about failed projects.
      Best of luck with your search.

      I agree with all the BA BLOCKS answers.
      In addition (from my point of view; 15+ years as BA and other roles), 1) even though this is not a 'direct' relationship to being a BA, it can show the interviewer your organization skills, and a proven record of coordinating such activities (which indirectly relates to being a BA, coordinating with different stakeholders).

    Is ECBA certification mandatory, if we want to enter into Business Analyst profession?

    • @BABLOCKS
      @BABLOCKS  3 роки тому

      It's not mandatory, but it can help signal to employers that you're taking the career seriously. You can become a business analyst without any certifications.

    Am facing problem in last round as business analyst..they say everything ok but also asking to estimating in 2 mins..what to answer that time.. without knowing details how would one can answer immediately.. plz help

    • @KairylIkbal
      @KairylIkbal 3 роки тому +1

      In this situation/interview-question, they are not necessarily looking for a 'correct' answer (because you have so little time to think/answer). What they are really trying to do is understand your *thought processes* and whether you can break-down a problem into parts. Then you could answer with some methods to investigate or get more details from various sources (people, online, manuals, etc).
