Dude, make a crosscut sled for those small pieces before you lose a finger.....

Not going to lie I cringed when I saw that. It’s only a matter of time

Your explanation was just fine. Congratulations. But just show better cutting practices on the tablesaw so people don’t follow what you did and lose a finger!! We want to encourage not scare people away from woodworking. Nice video!!

Hi from Canada. Hey don’t be so hard on yourself. You did great and the video had some great angle shots. So when you were marking where to cut for the T track positioning what did you align your back side of the line to? The back of the miter saw correct ? Ty and keep up the videos

I will be doing a similar project but not sure if it is necessary to place the track in line with the saw fence. Was considering placing the track an inch or two either in front of, or behind, the fence line to allow for stop blocks and hold downs. Was thinking it was just important that it be co-planar with the saw fence for accurate measurement. Great to see that no extended fence was made. Watched a video that changed my mind on making one. It explained that the only important contact point was the saw fence near the blade and that an extended fence would force even slightly warped wood to not be square at the saw blade. And, your way allows continued full use of your top for other things.

Yeah I would definitely go with no fence on the miter wings especially if your wings are mobile like mine. When everything is setup and clipped together my tracks end up being about 2.5” in front of my saw fence. If you end up putting your track in front as well just make sure your stop block is wide enough to accommodate thin material.

Hi, I have a question if you don’t mind asking. If you even remember this comment it’s been 3 years, so how did it work out for you? Where did you end up making your reference off of for the T track. Ty in advance or if anyone can answer this question: where to reference the T track positioning off of ?!

    That looks like MDF, right?
Is it absurd to cut the housing for the t guide with a circular saw instead of a router?

That would probably work fine. You just want to make sure that the 2 outside cuts are perfectly parallel to each and the right width to fit the track. You may have to do a lot of chiseling to get the bottom of the slot nice and flat as well.

absurd? There's always more than one way in woodworking.
