@@theutgardianchannel1952 Not that simple, basically in this genre of music you have to divide a bass performance into 2-3 tracks, high cut one at around 200-300, low cut another at around the same, apply different amount of comps to them, and then apply saturation to the top end of the low cut track, then cut out the junks (3-5khz) that you don't need. This album has the raw emotion of One, and the melody and passion of Altered State, it's the culmination of everything Tesseract has achieved so far. This album is absolutely phenomenal.
I love Altered State, it's the album that brought me to Tesseract and it's one of my favourite albums (top 20 certainly, probably top 10). But for me there's something really special about this album, I can't put my finger on it. Of course in the end all of this is opinion and personal preference.
I just shed a tear. As a music lover for close to 50 years I've NEVER experienced anything, even remotely, as emotionally interacting as of what TesseracT are able bring to the surface. And yes, I've taken early RUSH into consideration. It is amazing how they've been able to elevate the vocals to the same extremely high level as the rest of the band. This is as close to perfection as music ever will be.
Sverre Stroemme I'd love to know more about your musical exploration and I'm loving the way you love this music. I think it's awesome, so thought I'd let you know. Early RUSH is brilliant too. 😁
Best line of the album, it happens so quick but it's raw and simple and I love it. "The greatest thing you'll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return."
Ok, so here's my 2 cents... I accidentally discovered TesseracT with "Altered State" and I fell in love with the album. Tried their older stuff and wasn't feeling it as much as "Altered State". I simply love Ashe's voice and lyrics better than Dan's. However, I admit I decided to give this album a try, and the more I listen to it, the more I like it. I'm starting to view TesseracT like many of their long time fans... Each album should be judged on its own and not compared to other albums. Each album is a different/separate project with its own distinct sound or "flavor" and appreciate it for what it is on its own.
Mickey Buchanan I have grown to see this as well over the last 3 months of listening to them... especially after just seeing them live. So much respect.
Mickey Buchanan yeah but this new singer is waaaayyy much harder, not just a bunch wailing, although I liked it lol, Polaris indeed is absolutely amazing!!!!
I found "Altered State" by accident also. I was streaming Meshuggah radio and a song popped up. Checked it and I fell in love too! Listened to "One" and ran right back to "Altered State"! Once I played it to death I went back to "One" and fell in love. Like you said, each album is its own. Everything sounds dope at the concert thats for sure!
That voice sounded so familiar but then I realized it's because it's Daniel Tompkins, who sang the legendary song "A Dream in Static" off of the legendary album of the same name, by the legendary band Earthside. Love that guy's voice.
This might be their BEST album yet. It's 2019 and it still gives me that excitement like I had the first time I heard it. It has that vibe that's perfect for travelling, stargazing and for casual listening. This music is PERFECT!
I can NOT get over the lyrical delivery in Hexes..its absolutely stunning. also, props for the mention of Katatonia in the description..One of my favorite bands and one everyone should embrace.
This album is so rich. Theatrical moments, space voyage ereithrial tones, explosive bass groves, incredible time signature changes, overall cohesive theme, skull crushing djent, and orgasmic climaxes to send you into the void. Bravo Tesseract...Bravo!!
My favorite so far is Utopia, Phoenix, and Seven Names. Awesome album and shoutout to them for releasing it early. I honestly couldn't wait. I had chills through some songs :)
TesseracT is absolutely the best band of this era and of our generation. Every millisecond of all of their albums must be intimately savored. Breathtaking, beautiful music.
+walter white Fuck this stupid Meshuggah ripoff shit sounds like Fredrik Thordenthall buttfucked James Maynard Keenan's son and started a family band fucking garbage durrrrrrrrr. Ok fixed. inb4 hated I love TesseracT.
+mellamoignacio Its the best fuckin thing. They left it as the last song because they knew that after that climax anything else that would come afterwards would sound poor in comparsion.
This is fucking stunning, no other way to describe it. The overall progression of this album is beautifully written and the melancholic atmosphere of the soundscapes throughout throw my skin in pimples. It must be said also, Dan's vocal work has matured a lot since "One" and become rather quite stunning, he has taken off brilliantly from where Ashe left TesseracT and continuing the fresher sound the band is achieving. This really is a masterpiece!
There were many discussions on Ashe and Dan. But, did anyone notice that in spite of the vocalist changes, every fucking album has been a revelation going higher and higher. Not that they care, but Acle Kahney ,Jay Postones, James Monteith and Amos Williams thank you so much for your music!!
I'll be honest; speaking as someone who's been following TesseracT for a while, when I first listened to this, I wasn't a fan of this album. Now, it's grown on me.
I feel like it's more vocal driven than most of their other work, you've still got some nice poly rhythms and guitar work and stuff going on but the vocals are a lot more predominant than early stuff. I would go so far as to say the guitars are a little more rhythm based than before as well.
Crazy story: so my friend went into cardiac arrest the other day after a game of basketball. It was just me and him and there was no portable defibrillator around; I feared for my friends life. Then I remembered the fucking filthy groove from Dystopia and played it through my portable speakers and held them to my friends heart. Miraculously, the bass line reactivated his heart. Tesseract saved my (friends) life.
Seven Names gives me Deftones vibes, blended into this prog metal/djenty type genre... just pure pleasure for my ears. What a banger of an album. Such deep emotion on this album it's actually unbelievable.
Tourniquet brought me to tears just now and I'm listening to this band for the first time (Lauren Babic's cover brought me here.) This is one of the most beautiful albums I've ever had the pleasure to listen to. Seriously thanks for sharing it. Pretty sure this band and album will stick with me for a long time in the future.
Honest moment: I pre-ordered this album before the singles were out. Once I heard the singles, I will admit that I wasn't blown away and I was starting to have my doubts about this album. Then I come here to check out the album in its entirety and I was in awe at how much more variety the whole had to offer. I seriously can not wait for this to be on my phone!
The end of Utopia thoughhhhhhhhhholyyyyyyshhhiiiiiieeeetttttt. It's not an exaggeration to say that the existence of this album is one of my favorite things about being alive.
I cant stop listening to this album, Tourniquet is one of the most beautiful things I have ever heard, brings a tear to my eye. Its been about 15 years since I really paid any attention to metal in all honesty, the genre was sort of dead to me. I think the vocals, the lack of solos, the attention to bass and rhythm, this sound just transcends everything that was wrong with metal for me. Some kind of universal artistic beauty to it, like abstract sculpture it seems to speak a very fundamental language thats beyond any particular genre of music, or even music itself. I think any art that can shake off the trappings of the moment and resonate with you on that raw and candid a level is a rare thing to be cherished. Well done for joining Mike Patton on the 'metal can still be interesting' bench, that was a lonely looking bench in my musical world for a good while there.
When Altered State came out, I went through a pretty rough heartbreak and Resist was the track that really resonated with me at the time and it was comforting. 2 years later, new heartbreak, and coincidentally, new album, and I have to say, Seven Names touches me in the same way. Thank you TesseracT. You make such beautiful music.
Seriously, this album is without any doubts the finest example of how music can grow and evolve keeping all the elements that made me fall in love with this band, Dan, Ashe and even Elliot made each song sound unique, I honestly don't have a favorite album or singer, to me TesseracT is and always will be the soundtrack of my life. So many feelings... And emotions, the chills man... God damn this album has everything that I could ever ask for.
I think this is one of very few albums you must listen as one. I repeatedly listened to it at work when programming algorithms. It's the mixture of atmospheric parts, crazy rhythms and the mostly soft vocals that makes this album great for me.
I really apreciate that there's a full album video! I listen this album at least twice a week... And some times every morning to get energy/life motivation Thanks a lot Tesseract! See you in April in CHILE!
I cannot begin to express how great they are live. When they played Phoenix, I couldn't contain my emotions. Tears were running down my face as I sung as loud as I possibly could. They're technical masters live. Not a single beat was missed. Every note was nailed. The light show was perfectly synced. They placed in a venue that's notoriously known for having terrible sound and acoustics, from where I'm from. They even defied those odds. I forgot where I was because their sound was impeccable. I've been a fan of Tesseract for quite some time, and I admit that before my first time seeing them live, I began to listen to other bands more than them. I have listened to One, AS, and Polaris so many times and it was losing a bit of magic. After seeing them live, my love for them has never been stronger. Hearing the soaring power and emotion of each song live was something I will never forget. I'm just rambling at this point. I just came here to say that Tesseract has solidified themselves as my favorite band ever in my 26 years of living.
I sat in my chair still, covered in my blanket with my eyes closed as I let the melody resonates in my head. What a brilliant and well produced album. I honestly did not think Daniel Tompkins could front two bands and still had this level of passion. His flames burn bright. Bravo!!
TesseracT never fails to give me the chills like no other band does. It's hard to explain the feeling I get when I hear them. It's like I get a step closer to achieving eternal divinity or something, it just gives me the peace of mind I always searched for in music. Dan, Sir you bring out the best emotions in me and if you are reading this, please know that I will be forever thankful for your music. It's beautiful. It's beyond spiritual.
Jesus Christ...I really don't know what to say...or write...This is the most beautiful piece of music I heard my entire life...I am forever grateful for bringing this masterpiece to life. Serious amount of mantears were shed before, during and after hearing Polaris. PURE PERFECTION
+Michał Drobiazg the main problem in alterade state was Ashe ... Dan makes the tesseract sound more unique...and why everyone dont even mention ONE .... their best album ...the reason to linsten Tesseract ..
+Nuno Dias I must disagree. I started to listen Tesseract after hearing Altered State. It's different from Polaris in almost every possible way but still unique and beautiful. in fact, even though I love Dan and know that everything he participates in instantly turns to gold,I thought that Ashe was a better fit for Tesseract and Dan was perfect for Skyharbor. That is of course until I heard Polaris. Ashe has a beautiful voice, he is a master of harmonies and all but god damn Danny... The best part of it all is that now we have Tesseract with Dan, Eric Emery (another brilliant artist) in Skyharbor and Ashe in VFTF. I could not want anything more...well maybe except a tour with all three of those bands. that would be a dream come true:)
+Michał Drobiazg i second this. I really enjoyed Dan in SKyharbor. Blinding white chaos because it had this raw intensity to it and guiding lights because it was more progressive and more cohesive effort. but now i also like their new singer and drummer. I also love ashe's band vftf too. would really love to see all three tour together.
dan isn't tesseract's soul, but dan brought skyharbor's soul to tesseract - thanks for this perfect combination! i'll never stop listening this album...
+Christian Furrer What are you even talking about? Dan was the original singer, just as much a part of the soul of tesseract as any other. Just because people are sleeping on old tesseract and jumped on the wagon at their second record doesn't change that he's an integral part of the band.
Tesseract, like Tool is one of those bands where each song as a separate piece does not give a fraction of the same experience as listening to an album from start to finish. You get so engrossed, you do it over and over again, until you realize that it's been three months since the release of this album and you haven't moved from your place and you're a bit hungry.
I can listen to this album every day and I never get tired of it. Each time I listen, a discover a new element that makes me love this band even more. Grateful for being alive at the same time when TesseracT is making music. ♥
Its the little things like throwing you in on the upbeat at the end of Hexes that makes them so strong. The simplicity of Tesseract is the driving force in their depth.
+Brendon stacey I disagree with both you and Jody. Not that Altered State isn't better than Polaris, it is. In fact, NO album, in last who knows how many years, comes close to the perfection that is Altered State. Quite possibly the only flawless album I've ever heard. Polaris is amazing, don't get me wrong, but it doesn't touch Altered state, and here's where I disagree with Brendon, not because Dan did poorly, or that he could do better. No. Dan sang his heart out in this record, and I couldn't be more amazed and mesmerized by what he's done. In fact, I'd say Dan is the strongest Tesseract member on this album. The reason why Polaris isn't as good as Altered State is somewhat eluding me. Objectively it is brilliant, as groovy and melodic as anyone could hope for and expect from Tesseract, but it just doesn't strike the same emotional strings as Altered State does, for me mind you. This is a completely subjective and personal opinion. If Jody really likes this album best, I take that as a good news, a reassurance that Tesseract has not only kept the edge and originality they showed us before, but are obviously pushing it further!
Got to agree +allcartuner . I think they've taken the root sound of Altered State, which isn't a bad thing per se, but they've not taken it in a new direction or as far. There are a few gems like Messenger, and overall I think it finishes strongly. It just isn't the same wall to wall amazement that Altered State was (and it might be a high bar to reach again).
+allcartuner i think people just got so butthurt about them getting a different singer for altered state that they completely ignored the fact that that album was actually awesome.
+Gabi Murray I know I did. I didn't really like the Perspective EP though (still not the biggest fan of that EP), so I just kinda wrote off Altered State without giving it a chance. I've matured since then, and when this album came out I was really able to appreciate both albums' superior use of vocal melodies and musical genius. I do put Polaris as my #1 TesseracT album, but Altered State is definitely a very close #2.
I am truly fascinated by people that give this album one try and reach early conclussions. Filtering music like a fastfood service, ignoring serious musicians effort to make a record... This album rewires your fucking brain, and the more you listen and understand it, the more you find their decisions in terms of melody, rythm and estructure not only correct, but also the best ones they could have make. SuperB work, guys...

I love how he only screams one time in the entire album and it's the second to last song.
He screams at the end of Utopia and once in Messenger.
TesseracT is absolutely the best band of this era and of our generation. Every millisecond of all of their albums must be intimately savored. Breathtaking, beautiful music.
i have never seen such a positive comment section.
+walter white Seriously. Never seen this, either. It's definitely deserved, though.
+walter white Fuck this stupid Meshuggah ripoff shit sounds like Fredrik Thordenthall buttfucked James Maynard Keenan's son and started a family band fucking garbage durrrrrrrrr.
Ok fixed.
inb4 hated I love TesseracT.
+NecroSmokist i agree
+NecroSmokist Even that can be interpreted as a poorly worded compliment, with MJK and Meshuggah being such huge names in music
fuck you
I'm going through a really hard time right now and thank god for tesseract and this album .
+Aditya M The power of music is amazing. Hang in there :)
masters of not only their instruments, but their genre.
On my second listen through of this album
+Brendon stacey third for me hahahahaha
+IzhakIbDrums the albums just been on repeat for me I've lost count now hahah
hahahaha still listening!
+Brendon stacey I'm with you my friend.
On my third ;)
oh god, seven names
+mellamoignacio i cried so hard
+mellamoignacio Its the best fuckin thing. They left it as the last song because they knew that after that climax anything else that would come afterwards would sound poor in comparsion.
I love their melodic style. It's got this sentimental vibe to it.
I realized after hearing that snare that I no longer had erectile dysfunction.
This album is excellent.
Brian R 🤣🤣🤣🤙🤙
Grossly under-rated album. Can't stop listening. I think this is their best work.
this album is just so groovy, well produced- soothes the senses. They KILLED it on this one.
I'll be honest; speaking as someone who's been following TesseracT for a while, when I first listened to this, I wasn't a fan of this album. Now, it's grown on me.
the bests albums works that way
I feel like it's more vocal driven than most of their other work, you've still got some nice poly rhythms and guitar work and stuff going on but the vocals are a lot more predominant than early stuff. I would go so far as to say the guitars are a little more rhythm based than before as well.
There's a reason this band is my favorite. Absolute perfection.
They continue to evolve in such pleasant ways while continuing to give us what drew us in in the first place.
The raw emotion in Dan's voice is what makes the vocals from Tesseract so amazing, Seven Names is a perfect representation of that
Crazy story: so my friend went into cardiac arrest the other day after a game of basketball.
Love this story
Seven Names gives me Deftones vibes, blended into this prog metal/djenty type genre... just pure pleasure for my ears. What a banger of an album. Such deep emotion on this album it's actually unbelievable.
Tourniquet brought me to tears just now and I'm listening to this band for the first time (Lauren Babic's cover brought me here.) This is one of the most beautiful albums I've ever had the pleasure to listen to. Seriously thanks for sharing it. Pretty sure this band and album will stick with me for a long time in the future.
My favorite is definitely Cages. The build-up is mind-blowing...
Each song of this album is beyond the edge of infinity.
That kick drum djesus
+! for the djesus
it's actually bass synchronized with the kick drum. BOOT ok
I'm done.
THIS is ART.
Simply outstanding, magical. I can't even find appropriate words. Kudos to you, british fellas.
Happy 1 year anniversary to one of the best albums of our time!!
Hell yeah!

Mesdames et Messieurs. Daniel f***ing Tompkins.
A tiny tear fell from my eyes during the "chorus" of "Hexes".
Are these gr00ves even legal?
Thall shalt groove
They had some nice psalm mutes
barely legal grooves xxx
+Thall Tv Yeah but is it against the law tho?
"The chord is my Shepard"
Phoenix moves me to tears at times. It's just that bloody good.
I didn't even know that TesseracT released a new album for 4 months?! And here I was listening to Altered State and One repeatedly.
I've been listening to this album in an eternal loop since it was released. Has been the grooviest month in my whole life. Thank you TesseracT
God damn this album has everything that I could ever ask for.
can't get over how well survivor flows into tourniquet. My two favorite songs on this album
I think this is one of very few albums you must listen as one. I repeatedly listened to it at work when programming algorithms. It's the mixture of atmospheric parts, crazy rhythms and the mostly soft vocals that makes this album great for me.
Been listening to survival constantly for the past few days, it's phenomenal
I really apreciate that there's a full album video!
I listen this album at least twice a week... And some times every morning to get energy/life motivation
Thanks a lot Tesseract!
See you in April in CHILE!
I was supposed to leave the house an hour ago and here I am jamming this album instead.
Tesseract have invented a new style of music: "Progressive audio porn"
Bravo!!
I swear, Tourniquet is the most beautiful song on this album
Grooves, grooves everywhere....
Thank you for no 30 second ad, Kscope.
I stand corrected. Fucking k scope
+geodorff Try Adblock.
I saw this band way back with btbam. God all mighty!!! Love them!!! Will see them a 1000X's
I honestly thought that nothing would be able to beat ALTERED STATE and Skyharbor's GUIDING LIGHTS as my all time favorites but this...OMG...
+Arturo Garcia Yes! all 3 together would be mind blowing! and since they are all friends expect awesone shinanigans!
dan isn't tesseract's soul, but dan brought skyharbor's soul to tesseract - thanks for this perfect combination! i'll never stop listening this album...
+Christian Furrer What are you even talking about? Dan was the original singer, just as much a part of the soul of tesseract as any other. Just because people are sleeping on old tesseract and jumped on the wagon at their second record doesn't change that he's an integral part of the band.
+omgnuub wikipedia: difference between 'know' and 'mean'
+Christian Furrer This is exactly what I think. I think Dan's voice matured a lot with Skyharbor
Tesseract, Karnivool,Chevelle in one tour would be epic, yes.....tickets please lol
Oh good god yes
Mike Patton would also work here
Tourniquet and Utopia are truly
Transcendent
This is probably the greatest mastering job I've ever heard
Wow wow. Every aspect of this sounds phenomenal so far. Bass for days!
I'm all about that bass.

Why have I not heard of this before? 20 minutes in, and I'm already amazed!
Tesseract, like Tool is one of those bands where each song as a separate piece does not give a fraction of the same experience as listening to an album from start to finish. You get so engrossed, you do it over and over again, until you realize that it's been three months since the release of this album and you haven't moved from your place and you're a bit hungry.
tourniquet gave me instant chills. in love with this album
I can listen to this album every day and I never get tired of it. Each time I listen, a discover a new element that makes me love this band even more. Grateful for being alive at the same time when TesseracT is making music. ♥
All I can say is Wow. This band just keeps getting better and better
Its the little things like throwing you in on the upbeat at the end of Hexes that makes them so strong. The simplicity of Tesseract is the driving force in their depth.
I remember finding Concealing Fate on youtube nearly 5 years ago with only 20000 views... It's been a long way, these guys deserve all they can get.
Must have been 50 odd times I've listened to this album since they've released it. It's still amazing
BEST TesseracT album to date! AMAZING!!!
Eh I still think altered state is better.. I think dan can do much better than this as his proven with skyharbor and one
I do put Polaris as my #1 TesseracT album, but Altered State is definitely a very close #2.
lost count of how many times i've heard this album.
Saw these guys last night, never heard them before but fuck me they're one of the best live bands I've ever seen.
who's still rockin' TesseracT in 2022?
Love these guys music!
