  • A busy lifestyle makes it easy to forget your next dental appointment… or an important conference call.
So, Kia wants to help “jog” your memory about what may be in your back seat.
That’s why select Kia models come with a Rear Occupant Alert System with door monitoring.
Here is how it works…With Rear Occupant Alert activated, when you leave the vehicle you will see and hear these warnings:
An alert message to “Check rear seats” will appear on the instrument cluster…
    And a chime will sound.
This system does not actually detect objects or people in the back seat - instead, it remembers the rear doors being opened and closed, then it informs the driver that something may be in the rear seat.
Please note that the rear door open and closed history is reset after the driver turns off the ignition, gets out of the vehicle, and locks the doors remotely using the remote keyless entry system.Your vehicle’s default setting for Rear Occupant Alert may be set to on or off.
To turn on or off Rear Occupant Alert, go to the Vehicle Settings menu…
    Select Convenience…
    Then Rear Occupant Alert…
And finally, check or uncheck the box.
Be sure to check your back seat when you hear this chime (SFX). That will help to ensure that no one is left behind. And remember, this system is not a substitute for one’s attention, so always check the vehicle’s interior when you exit.
For additional information on Rear Occupant Alert with door monitoring, please refer to your Owner’s Manual, the Features & Function Guide for your vehicle or the Kia Features & Functions Videos UA-cam channel.
    Thanks for watching.
